I like how the shrimp fajitas also have carrots instead of just peppers and onions. The beans are flavorful and the rice is good. A little bit of guacamole they give you on the side is salty enough and has enough lime. I'll be ordering a side of guac and chips the next time. The queso fundido was my first time ordering it. A lot of it spilled out during the delivery process and that's fine. I expect it to spell if they don't put it in an airtight container, there wasn't enough cheese and it was mostly beans and chorizo. They did have little tomatoes on top and some onion chunks in it too, which gave it flavor, but it was too much beans and chorizo. I was looking for something cheesy. read more

Quickly seated with fast service! It's been awhile since I've been here and I was appreciative of how quickly service was. Spacious dining room. Good music at a very reasonable level. Overall - this place was solid. Service was phenomenal, food was pretty good, and it was clean and organized. Food ranking: Chips & salsa: 7/10 Guac: 6.5/10 Rice: 9/10 Barbacoa taco: 8/10 Steak tacos: 4.5/10 (not as flavorful and had red onion on it which was interesting). This was also my husbands rating and he notes quality was good but flavor was lacking. I recommend checking it out and doing it. It was good in my book and I'd go again! Very friendly service but like most places, they could use more help. We got chips from the bus boy. We waited awhile to get drinks, didn't see anyone again until we got our food. I came here to Los Mariachis with some of my friends to catch up. This was my first time back to the restaurant in years. The last time I was here I was physically sick after eating the food. To be fair, I am shocked that I returned, but my experience back was not as bad as I was expecting. The food was pretty good, the service was fine, and there were minimal cleanliness issues. First, the food. I ordered the steak tacos, and they kept up in flavor in comparison to other Mexican restaurants that I have tried in Southeast Wisconsin. The rice was excellent, but the beans were lacking in flavor. The chips and salsa were great -- good flavor, and not too greasy. My Rating for this Category: 4/5 Next, the service. Our waitress was quick and extremely friendly. She always had a smile on her face. Additionally, any food that my friends and I ordered came out within ten minutes tops. All of the booths were actively being washed after each guest. Our orders sent back wasn't what we ordered never brought water to our table once we received our soda never was asked for a refill. Once we left the lady chased us out to the parking lot for a tip since we did not leave one for the poor service. That was very tasteless of her to run outside telling us to leave a tip. I am a mixed race. So when my white family went there I was present and the service was much better and when my pops didn't leave a tip he did not get ran down in the lot for one. I honestly feel like I grew up at this place. Maybe not literally, but I have been coming to Los Mariachis since I was little. This used to be the second location, but now is the only location in Racine. The inside is nothing too fancy and definitely has that family owned feeling. There are some tables and chairs that could use a bit more love, but hey it's the food that matters right. Every time we're in town we always have to visit and always get the guacamole to start. Some of the other things I really love here are the chips & salsa, the fajitas and the margaritas. The drinks are strong and the food is unique. It does have an interesting blend to it and isn't 100% authentic. I personally like that, but to each their own. The service is always quick and friendly. They really made sure you are taken care of throughout your meal. My family will forever keep coming back and I'd hate to ever see this place go. read more

"Los" has been in our local restaurant rotation for around 25 years. Why? Consistently good Mexican food, freshly prepared and almost always delivered quickly. The warm chips and fresh salsa is one of the things that keeps us coming back. Over the years, the management has tweaked the menu to keep things interesting - removing some items and adding new ones. We've long been fans of the burritos (particularly Burritos El Sol) and the various combination plates. Our new fave is Tacos Del Rio (steak tacos topped with black beans and avocado). We have been coming to Los Mariachis for the past 30 years. The food and drinks are consistently good. The service is always quick and efficient. They serve good portion sizes and the prices are reasonable. The dish we almost always get is Pollo Tepic. It's a an original family creation (an amazing take on chicken fajita but so much more). This place has some good dishes but doesn't quite stack up to my little friend, who happens to be a blue Sombrero and belongs to Jose. The waitstaff was friendly and polite, along with the food arriving in a timely manner. The food, however, was mediocre/decent. I tried a new entree on their menu -- Tacos del Rio, which I enjoyed... although, I was pretty hungry. My friends both ordered vegetarian enchiladas, which they complained the vegetables tasted bland and boiled. I also want to point out the chips and salsa before our entrees arrived. They weren't anything to write home about. The salsa tasted like a tomato was simply chopped up and thrown into a bowl. The end of our meal was met with a nice surprise for my birthday, as our server gave me a complementary desert, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, hand-dipped in their special cinnamon coating, topped with whipped cream and a cherry. We were by the neighborhood and decided to try, we ordered a Carne Asada Fries, let me tell you that meat had no flavor, took 10-15 mins to take my order for drinks and another 10-15 mins for my actual order to be taken. Server Maria was in the back hiding and on her phone. We wanted to give steak another try and it was a failed, the taste was like a hibachi steak salty and too much soy sauce. I order sopes and had no taste, including my torta of carne asada. The menudo, it was ORANGE ! never had one like this and water added, no flavor. Only think that was good enough was the horchata and not even the chips. Everyone else was getting their food right away, ours was dragging. Won't be stopping by again. I've never had a problem here before. Tonight we called and ordered out for my grandmas birthday. While ordering we were very slow to make sure we got everything correct. We ordered and paid for 8 meals. The host handed us bags with 5 containers and sent us on our way. Obviously something was not correct. We checked to see what was clearly missing and had them go back and have the food we paid for made. When we got everything home orders were COMPLETELY made wrong. I ordered the combo plate with 2 chicken enchiladas and a chicken taco. One enchilada had beef, one had NO MEAT at all, and my "chicken taco" was beef and tortilla already broken. My sister also went to take a bite of her beans and ended up pulling a long strand of hair out of her mouth (her hair is above the shoulders). I will NEVER be eating here again. read more

I ordered the cheese enchiladas as a takeout. They told me fifteen minutes. Got there two minutes early. Waited five minutes for food. Took me five minutes to drive home. On opening my meal, I found the enchiladas hard and cold in the middle as if they had been sitting a long time. The rice was also cold and "crunchy"...yuck! The only thing salvageable was the beans. This place used to be our family's favorite place in Racine to eat, so we are VERY frequent customers for take out and dine-in. We love it so much so,that we have brought family and friends there and have recommended it to everyone we know!! Lately we've noticed it going down hill in service and quality but we kept going back because we know covid has brought on many new challenges. Our most recent visit, however, will now be our last. Mind you, it was not busy this day at all. We were given chips and salsa when we first sat down. Our waiter, Cristian took our order but we didn't feel he was actually listening because when he brought our drinks and food, he gave them to the wrong person and our small changes to our meals weren't executed, at all. He snatched our chip basket up (that still had a few chips in it) and didn't bother asking if we would like anymore chips and salsa. My husband ordered the steak fajitas and they were un-seasoned and very,very dry. I ordered the Pollo topic and the chicken was burnt to the texture of jerky. It is also supposed yo have a variety of veggies on the skillet (3 colors of bell peppers, onion, carrots, avocado and tomato). The only one it had was nearly an entire onion and a few pieces of avocado. When our waiter asked how everything was, I showed him how burnt ALL of the meat was and explained that I couldnt even eat it. He responded, "and what do you want me to do about it?" And then proceeded yo ask us if we were ready for the bill. We said yes. Then about 25 minutes went by before we saw him again. He brought our bill and said nothing more but walked away. We went up to the hostess to pay our bill. When she asked how everything was,my husband responded: "horrible." She responds with, "oh sorry.your total is $$$ (full charge on everything). So clearly she didn't care either. No offer to make it right at all today. I was going to let it go, but honestly,this restaraunt is very expensive for what you get. I met a friend there today for lunch. To be honest, I'd skipped this one in the past because it's not the most attractive restaurant from the exterior. But the food was very good. There was a large selection and it was all reasonably priced. The tortilla chips were fairly standard but the sauces were very good. While our waitress was pleasant, she could have been just a little more attentive (she cleared my friend's plate but not mine). The hostess though made up for it and made suggestions for the next time I come...and there will be a next time. It's nice to have good food, reasonably priced and not at a chain. I try to find these places and support them. I know it must be hard to compete, particularly with chains that have huge marketing budgets. Add to that, so many of the chains seem like Walmart with food. Racine seems to have a number of these good, independent restaurants, This one is definitely on my list for a return visit. read more
