First time in this place. I ordered a shrimp taco and carnitas taco. I like how meaty both tacos are. Carnitas has great chucks and the shrimps are countless. It feels like, most if the places I've had shrimp tacos, they only have 2 pieces of shrimps. Maybe how they pack tacos? Or maybe because shrimp is expensive. But Los Metates shrimp tacos come with lots of it. Flavor was amazing too. Very friendly staff. Service was amazing. The place is not too big but you can feel the home inside. read more

Los Metates is a hole in the wall taqueria. They have a few dine in tables and a fresh salsa bar. It's my go to spot when I don't feel like driving to Taqueria Cancun. However, the burritos here can be a hit or miss sometimes. Came here last night for dinner and ordered a regular grilled chicken burrito. It was portioned just right. The chicken wasn't dry and was seasoned well. Chips are included with your order. The employees here are friendly and efficient. read more

I have never gone back to the salsa bar so often in ANY mexican restaurant! 3 times it was so awesome! tomatoes, garlic, chills, onions, just the perfect blend of spices. i could not believe how good it was. and the burrito i ordered was very good as well. the carnitas was braised just right and crispy on the outside. the beans and rice were perfectly cooked. Los Metates is an unassuming taqueria located in Daly City with decent food. I came in to get a takeout dinner on a weeknight, and while I loved the friendly service, I found the food to be somewhat average. First, I had the veggie burrito, which came with grilled carrots, zucchini, peppers, and onions, along with rice and beans (I also added guacamole). The burrito was a little bit lacking in flavor, but the bigger problem was that the fillings were way too wet and the burrito wasn't wrapped very neatly, which made a little bit of a mess. Second, I also ordered the grilled chicken burrito, which was a lot more flavorful, but the fillings were again a little bit too wet. The restaurant also has a salsa bar, from which I took plenty of pico de gallo and salsas, but nothing here was really all that impressive. Overall, this was a decent place to grab a quick bite to eat for a fairly good value. The restaurant is also relatively clean and might be nice to sit at, but the food was average and not particularly memorable to me. read more

We came in on Saturday for dinner and had a good meal. They only about 6 tables as it is a smaller place. They have a good variety of items on the menu and the flavor was good. I had the carne asada plate and my husband had the grilled fish plate. The rice and beans had good flavor. The mild salsas were a little spicy but were still good. read more

5 STAR CUSTOMER SERVICE 5 STAR FOOD Today my boss decided to buy her staff some food. We all agreed for some shrimp burritos since it's Good Friday. I picked up the food and went back to work. As we were eating we noticed that 3 of the burritos were carne asada. That was a bummer since they couldn't eat meat today and the food was just going to go to waste. I checked the receipt and it showed 3 super burritos. I wasn't overcharged so no big deal. I called Los Metates and explained that they had my order wrong and I asked if I can bring back the burritos to get the correct ones. The lady was very apologetic and said they were going to make 3 super burritos and have it delivered to us and that we can keep the other 3 carne asada burritos. I believe the owner delivered our burritos and was still apologetic for the confusion. This is why I will continue to eat here. Came to check the place out for lunch since it's near by , was really in the mood for tacos . When I came in to pay the man cooking the tacos had no gloves on and literally opened the fridge where they had meat ( looked like it was there for a couple of days ) as he grabbed it he put his whole hand ( with no gloves ) in it grabbed the mean and put it on the counter to place to to cook after words ! Wtf ! I was shocked being that I was paying and was able to see it ! Afterwards I'm looking at him and he doesn't even wash his hands ! Hi literally puts his hands under water for a second and continues cooking while whip in his nose ! The grosses thing I have ever witness . What's a burrito without meat? I have no idea but definitely not a veggie burrito but that's what I got at this joint when I ordered a SUPER STEAK BURRITO and a Regular Chicken Burrito for my love. Both my burritos came with everything else except the MEAT!! All these pictures of chunky portions of protein couldn't have come from this restaurant. Has to of been doctored from other places. Not only was the meat was non existent, the whole sha-bang was overly salty. So if you're looking for a veggie wannabe burrito, high blood pressure, and a flare up of gout, then is the place for you. Beans, rice and meat and one piece of avocado? Are you kidding me??? The other Burrito had some rice, beans, cilantro and avocado. Last time I checked a super burrito had beans, rice, meat, CHEESE, PICO DE GALLO, LETTUCE, and SOUR CREAM. This has to be one of the worse places to buy a burrito. Got charged for a $9.50 super burrito and was given a lame half assed regular burrito. Will I come back? Yes to get my money back? Will I come back to eat here? Heck No! What I didn't like was the apparent obsession with lemons. Lemon wedge came with tacos and quesadillas which is whatever because that's optional, but why are the guacamole and ceviche made with lemon juice rather than the typical lime juice? Finding parking is extremely difficult in this semi-industrial area of Daly City, across the street from City Toyota dealership. Most people drive to the other side of the freeway for In-n-Out Burger, instead. At the time, there were only 4 customers inside including me. Service is great, super friendly cashier girl was welcoming to both newcomers and regulars. Nicer than most taquerias I go to in SF. But the food was only okay. Only a few meats were available (no tongue meat, although listed on menu) that day. The 2 burritos we got were made to order, but had a cold exterior (wasn't steam heated), and the carnitas meat was dry. They must give their chickens sensual Oil of Olay body massages followed by a nice chicken jus bubble bath and a full on swedish massage rub-a-dub down. Not bad actually! This place is just the best, came here today and man the price was such a great deal. I could not resist the flavor that the place comes with. It tastes better than your average run of the mill Mexican food. The location is near a lot of shopping and companies which makes it a good place to take a break before heading to work. It reminds me of the local taqueria that is down the street from my university and down the street from my house. The portions at this place is off the charts. I almost could not finish my order. They have really tasty drinks that will make you want some seconds.
