I thought I'd written an update. I guess not, so here goes. For starters, this place is temporarily closed for renovations/re-branding; it will re-open, probably with a different name but same ownership. Next, the wife was really Jones-ing for fajitas the last time we were up this way, so I caved and went back. I still find the credit card surcharge to be completely obnoxious, but I've come to accept that this is how restaurants and many retailers operate up here; it's just part of the hospitality/retail culture. Given the thin margins many places up here operate on, I can forgive the impulse, though I still contend the idea that it costs less to handle cash is fallacious. Food was much better this time. We both got steak fajitas, which we weren't too sure about at first but got better as the ingredients stewed in their juices. Service was much more uniformly pleasant as well. The tequila selection shrank though, and I'm not surprised about that. There seems to be a limited market for higher-end tequilas up here. read more

Went in there yesterday to get 8 steak tacos with cilantro an onion.. I was told the total would be $46 an some change. When I made mention about using a card to pay it went up to $49.. I asked for a couple extra sauces he literally told me I'm gonna have to charge you for them.... Maybe if you got the money to blow on Mexican food that isn't even that good be my guest. Found this place randomly passing through town. Shockingly good food for a small town that seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Good service and great food. So this place looks like a hole in the wall place you might just drive on by. But we heard the food was good so we tried it. The inside wasn't cool. They did have an extra AC unit going to help but it was warm. We sat outside which was nice. Looked to me like they were understaffed. Anyway, we got excellent service. Food came out fast. I love Mexican food and I have to say this was some of the best I've ever had. It's way out of my normal route to go anywhere but wow, I am going to go here again. read more

I had the fiercest craving for some Mexican food after hiking at Devil's Lake. We were headed up north and about to stop into a Kwik Trip for some dinner since we didn't think we would be able to find anywhere else to stop. Luckily, we passed this restaurant, and the red "open" sign was on. The waitress didn't turn the OPEN sign off until about 20 mins after we were seated and served. We did a U-turn and headed in to ask if they were still serving food. Online it said the restaurant closed at 9pm. We arrived at 8:50 pm and were kindly told we could take a seat and order food. The place was surprisingly busy. Looked like lots of people enjoying margs with friends on a Friday night. We were promptly helped and provided with menus and complimentary chips and salsa. Our waiter didn't know a lot of answers to questions - things like what types of hot sauce do you have - but he was quick to find out answers. The food hit the spot. Wasn't incredible but was served nice and hot and a good size portion. It was kind of on the bland side but that beats being too salty! A nice bonus of this place is the décor. It is bright with a lot of authentic Mexican artifacts and artwork everywhere. Really well done; you can tell a lot of thought and effort went into the ambience. It is kind of on the smaller size, but the town is very small so unless everyone is trying to get a table here you shouldn't have an issue. A drawback was all the floor fans they had on. It makes sense that these would be going if they had cooling issues during the day but it was just too cold for our liking. Also, I am unsure if they take reservations. read more

This Mexican Restaurant is muy bueno! The space and the food makes me happy, their food is muy delicioso! I definitely enjoyed their nachos, enchiladas, and carne asada. First time visiting and it was good. Not great, but good. Got seated, order taken, and food all within about 20 minutes. That was really quick. Chips and salsa were good. I ordered a taco salad and while it tasted good, it had very minimal lettuce and the rest was all meat. I expect more lettuce when I order a salad. read more

My first time here as well as my wife. Her daughter, however, had been there once before and raved about it. I'm not a authority on mexican food. I'm more of a meat and potatoes kind of guy. So my poor wife rarely gets to have her mexican food. But they had many items on the menu that were not real spicy or just veggies. Our dinners came fast and were quite good! I chose more conservative menu items and they were nice. The ladies chose the wild mexican stuff and really enjoyed it. The pitcher of margaritas that we enjoyed was excellent. Our server was excellent and patiently explained everything that we questioned. No small deal either! I have forgotten all of the spanish that i learned in high school and college! Use it or lose it they say. All in all, a nice dining experience. The place was clean. And it was quiet, mostly since we were there mid afternoon. I know Covid caused problems but watering down your cheese dip won't fix it. Neither will raising prices for a lower quality meal. The sign on the door about the service fee added to card payment is also off putting. I was a big fan but now, not so much. It would be easier to justify spending my money there if the servers were nicer but that is not really up to basic standards either. I hope you get it together. read more

Was in town on business for a couple days and this very small town has minimal dining options. I passed this restaurant on my morning commute and decided to try it for dinner. So glad I did! The Mexican food here is excellent, better than any I've found in my hometown of Green Bay. I had a shredded beef chimichanga. The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The rice and beans were fresh and very flavorful. The chips are authentic restaurant style and delicious. Now if only they would open a location in Green Bay! read more

Their coffee machine was broken so i got iced tea instead and they don't serve the corn which is a bit strange for Mexican place. We passed this restaurant so many times while in this town and decided to give it a shot, finally. It is spacious and inviting, clean, Mexican themed decor similar to any Chicago place. The corn chips were freshly made and there were plenty, served with your traditional salsa and home made ranch based pink sauce that was very tasty. Taco salads are deep with plenty of chicken and/or ground beef. Not a bad option for deep in the woods middle of Wisconsin town, population under 2,000. read more

We've been here a couple of times. The first time we ate here, we both ordered items with the standard ground beef option. This was the worst idea i could have done. The meat was so bland that I was drowning my food in the salsa to get flavor on my plate! Then, we refused to give the place a second try for a LONG TIME. We flipped a coin one day (yes, that's how I make some of my very important decisions) and Jose's (heads) was flipped. We were both very hesitant to give it another try, but had to because of the coin flip. I'm glad we did. We both knew our mistake from the previous trip and decided to order items that were not ground beef. I got the chicken nachos and my lunch date got a combo plate (chicken and bean options). The second meal here was WAY BETTER than the first time. More flavor in the food and it didn't leave a lackluster feeling on me. We will be back. read more

We've checked our receipts and each time something is missing,it's still charged and on our receipt. They apologized and offered me something else but really do they think I would eat anything here considering what happened. No thank you. This place was just ok, I had the Yolanda enchiladas. The chicken had a decent flavor. The chips and salsa were just like any other Mexican restaurant. The service was fine. The place was empty except for one person at the bar. The big deterrent here was just the crappy appearance of the inside. The people literally put laminate wood flooring over the top of carpet. I only know that due to the giant gaps in the flooring and we could see the carpet the laid over. The chairs had all been sponge painted very poorly. The floor was dirty and didn't look like it had been cleaned in a LONG time. Just nothing exciting here. If I was back in this area I would not come back to eat here.
