Service is superb here. Staff really friendly. Popped in for lunch. The portion sizes are huge. You get fries and salad or soup. Plus they give you warm freshly baked bread which was delicious. Pro: Two stars because the onion rings are epic. Con: We ordered two ribeye steaks medium rare, and one came out rare in some spots and was so grisly that I couldn't even cut it and the other was well done. Why do the green beans taste fishy? Bleh. We only ended up here because The Lodge was closed. Probably a tourist trap. I told them about the issue, even though I felt awful about it since I haven't seen my dad in a long time, and they didn't even bother removing it from the bill that he paid. Ugh. New to the area, decided to give it a try. When we pulled into the parking lot, we were a little leery as it had a rehab Country Kitchen vibe. Looks are deceiving. The food was wonderful! Stopped here for lunch. Had gyros, a fruit salad plate, and a chicken sandwich. Sandwiches came with soup, fries, and a roll. Everything was very good. Staff was very nice and the bathrooms were clean. The menu was very large and made us laugh, but great for those with limited vision. read more

Bob's Burgers Fans - one of the characters on the show works here! For this style of restaurant, a family style place with a nice variety, 4 Stars. The turkey club was very good but if you are sensitive to a lot of mayo, you should get it on the side. The steak sandwich was good too. The fries are ridiculously good, nice and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Sandwiches come with choose of soup, they had chicken noodle and minestrone, both good. You also get a nice big homemade roll. We missed the cinnamon rolls, they were all out but the time we got there. Bathrooms are ok, a little on the grungy side, what you'd expect from a nice Kwik Trip. We'll be back to try the cinnamon rolls! read more

We came into the restaurant yesterday morning, we are locals and have enjoyed many meals at the castle. to us it is the only and best place in Mauston to get a sit-down meal. The price is always rite, the food is delicious, and the service is great. I had a plate of the biscuits and gravy; it is done the way it should be done. It seems like it should be easy but as one of my favorite breakfast meals it is surprising how so many places get it wrong, but that is the castle doing food the rite way for the past 30 years. This is a place you need to get into for breakfast, plenty of food (You never leave hungry) and a great selection to choose from. The owners are hands on, I have never been in the Castle and not seem at least one of the brothers working the grill or overseeing the operation. and no matter how busy they will always take the time to see how you are doing and make sure your meal was to your satisfaction. We were seated and promptly ignored by the only waitress and host or whomever he was and who chose to cash out all the tickets and continue to seat people regardless . The last straw was him taking the drink orders of the table next to us that was seated at least ten minutes after we were. I can only imagine how long the food service would have taken.
