The restaurant started out just so-so -- equivalent of 2-3 stars. It has greatly improved. Great food. comparably 'reasonable prices.

I only have a few things to say , I've been here a few times and the food when I went on 5/18/23 was awful. It was luke warm, I ordered a dish with cheese on top and it came with almost no cheese. I explained to the waitress this was supposed to come with cheese and had almost no cheese on it at all. I asked could I have some more cheese on it she said sure and brought me a cup of cheese. She never told me she was going to charge me but when my bill came she charged me $4 for the cheese that they lacked to put on my food. The service was awful the waitress never came back but once after she gave us our food. I asked her to remove the cheese that she charged me for but she wouldn't claiming the manager says no because I asked for it, yes I asked for it after I explained my meal was supposed to have it on it and I shouldn't get charged for it but she refused to remove the charge. After 5 mins of discussions this lady she finally removed it but not until she charged my dad for the wrong Bill then claimed to remove the wrong charge then charge him again for the correct bill. Over all the service , food and everything was awful. 1/10 would not recommend! Will not be back here! read more

Just an overnight in Front Royal -- found this place not far from the Hilton. Very good house salad with chicken. Wife enjoyed her chicken quesadillas. They were out of Chardonnay, so I ordered Rosé -- and to my surprise (not delight) it was dark and sweet. The server was accommodating and replaced it with Chablis (guess they don't know it's Chardonnay) that was very good. read more

Stopped here for dinner after a weekend get away in DC with my husband. It was the perfect half way point for us. I order the Potrillo's; which is their ribeye cooked with sweet peppers and onion, refried beans, and rice. I ordered corn tortillas instead of the tortillas for personal preference. I also ordered sides of queso and sour cream which my husband and I shared. He ordered a huge chicken burrito that was covered in queso and salsa verde. We ordered a top shelf margarita on the rocks and a pinta colada. The drinks were perfect. The service was outstanding. We will definitely come back. read more

Yum!! I had the Burrito Grande and it was quite delicious! So fresh and lots of flavor. My family and I got take out and was still hot when it got home. The food is good. That being said..... I got a to go order on Sunday 06/14/2020. I always pay with a credit card and give the tip in cash. When I checked my bank today, the bank has a larger amount then the receipt in my hand says. Looks like the waiter, Ernesto, decided the tip I handed him in cash wasn't good enough so he took it upon himself to add some more money on my card. Not cool Ernesto, or Los Portillos. I had heard great things about Jalisco, so we decided to pull off and eat dinner on our way south because we had to stop at the Front Royal exit to get fuel anyway. We then realized that Jalisco is somewhere in downtown Front Royal while Los Potrillos happens to be right there in the shopping center off the interstate. So LP's it was! They stuck us in a very cold little corner by a window. The place is super drafty. I could feel the wind coming in through the window and hitting me on the back of the head. I eventually crammed into the other side of the booth. The chips and salsa are pretty good, and they are generous with refills. The place is astoundingly cheap. It's a great value on drinks and food for what you get. However, even though the amount of food you get is pretty large, the quality is lower than many Mexican places. In fact, we even found a bone in the shredded chicken. The "spinach enchiladas" had only a few leaves of fresh spinach on top, nothing in the filling. The rice seemed pretty microwavable, or at least old. The meats were well-marinated and cooked to perfection. Overall, the meal was decent, good but not great. The service was VERY slow for a Mexican joint, as was getting the check. It's a solid three stars, nothing more. Although it was OK, I doubt I'll ever go back. When I do want dinner off that exit of the interstate, I'll probably go for something a little faster next time like McAlister's, Roy Rogers or perhaps try the Asian place that's located here as well. read more

The place had authentic Mexican music coming out of the old speakers and the lighting was pretty dark, but that didn't really bother me. I didn't really expect much out of a local restaurant in the middle of nowhere, but when the food came out, everything was well above par. I ordered a Fajita dish alongside an Arroz con Pollo dish. The steak was well cooked and the vegetables tasted really fresh. The chicken was well seasoned and the rice was amazing. I would definitely swing by one more time if I took another trip.
