It's ok .... Not thrilled about the food, I don't like the tortillas they use for the tacos they are too thick and big. Food could be tastier, is very average. I'm Mexican so I am picky about my Mexican food. The ambience is good and the grocery store they have is nice full of Latin candy and products. So far this is my favorite go to spot for authentic Mexican food! One of my fears about moving out of California was leaving being great food.. but I don't even have to worry about it with Los Primo's! This is a little Taqueria located next to Kroger- you can also purchase traditional sweet bread and meat, and popular Mexican staples for the kitchen. Their menu is also extremely simple. They have tacos, a few dishes and soup. My favorite tacos are Pastor, Lenga and Chicken Fajita. Service is quick... you walk in to tell the kitchen what you want, then walk to the front of the store to pay. You can stay to eat if you'd like, otherwise we usually pick up to go or order through Ubereats. read more

Authentic taqueria! They have amazing food including the carnitas and rice and beans. They also have a Mexican goods store attached to the taqueria. The staff is also very kind and patient with those who don't speak Spanish. And they always treat me very nicely when I attempt to use poor Spanish to order. Best Carnitas Tacos I have had in the US. I can not believe I have taken six years to review this gem. Ok to those who know me I am a authentic Mexican taco enthusiast, seeking them out in search of the tacos that can rival those which for me I have only eaten in Mexico. Los primos is a small Mexican grocery store with a lot of goodies ranging from nopales, hot sauce varieties, piñatas and even Mexican over the counter meds. The bakery is very good in the morning when the bread is freshly baked. Ok now for the main event- the food. You know a place is good when it's full everyday with local Mexican workers grabbing lunch on their break. While the menu is extensive I stick to the carnitas tacos, which are the best I have ever had in the US. My preference is SURTIDA which is a mix of meat and fatty content. For those who prefer lean meat (like my family) that's an option as well. Each tacos is huge and the equivalent of two tacos any where else. Any as any taco aficionado will tell you, the hot sauce is critical. Their sauces do not disappoint if you like heat. Suggestion would be to add a bottled Mexican soft drink as your beverage to complete the experience. My family has eaten everything from the chicken, pork and beef dishes which are served with rice amd beans; as well as the soups. We love it all. read more

These are some of the best tacos I've had in the Nashville area, hands down. They're way cheaper than the fancy places (looking at you Bartaco and Bakersfield) and just as good. You won't find the high-falutin' options here, and it's seriously like a grocery-store-meets-cafeteria ambiance. It's 99% construction workers grabbing a delicious meal. You walk in, get in line for food, load up on fixins, then pay at the register. Just keep it moving. Knowing a bit of Spanish helps. I got three different tacos plus rice, and every. single. one. was delicious. I still think about them and salivate. Los Primos has ZERO frills. You don't come here for the ambiance; it sits in the strip mall with Goodwill and Dollar General. You come here for the food. Some of my coworkers have had some bubbly tummies after eating here, because there's some grease involved. But a few of us maintain that it's worth it because it's delicious, just tougher on sensitive tummies that can't handle the goods. read more

This is for AUTHENTIC Mexican food. If you're expecting white queso and chips/salsa this is not the place for you. This is REAL Mexican food, not the American version so many are used to. The food is good, not amazing. But it is one of the few places around that is very authentic. You know it is, because the patrons are mostly Mexicans. It offers the variety of actual Mexican cooking. (I wish they had chorizo tacos). As someone who lived in Mexico, I can attest this is the REAL THING! The tables are VERY close together and the atmosphere is cramped and not welcoming. For this reason, we choose to get take-out. If someone were to laugh, cough, or sneeze, it most assuredly would hit most of the tables since they are so close together. However, the line does move quickly and the service is very quick. My only real complaint besides the table situation is that a lot of the meat is very fatty. This is normal for Mexican cooking, but since this is not in Mexico, I wish they would take the time to remove the hunks of fatty pieces from the meat. They will prevent me from ordering more variety. read more

Talk to any Hispanic in Franklin and you'll find Los Primos wins their applause for food every time. The proof is in the long line of hungry construction men during their lunch rush. Another good sign is the predominantly Spanish speaking employees there. I immediately knew I was in good hands. I've only ever had their tacos at $2.99 each but you can get a combo plate with rice and beans. Many seem to rave about their tortas. Three to four tacos fills my husband up, as they are very generous with fillings. I typically go for two. Al pastor, carnitas, and barbacoa are our favorites. Pre-covid they used to have an amazing salsa bar and pickled veggies. Hopefully it returns. This is as ethnic and cultured as it can get in Franklin, but take this market/taco place and put it in Mexico and you'll never know the difference. I am from Arizona and always looking for a place to eat that reminds me of home! Not only do they have great pan dulce but the food was equally as great!!! I had a carne Asada torta and they had a salsa bar with all the fixings! The bread was smashed panini style but still the same fresh bread from the bakery I'm used too! I was walking past Lost Primos shortly after a visit to Mexico. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Mexican breads through the window. I had to check it out. Now we have a reliable source for tropical fruits and Mexican snacks from the grocery side of Los Primos. In addition to the bakery and the groceries, they have fresh meats and a restaurant. The smell of the restaurant and the crowd even late in the afternoon meant we had to try the tacos. They taste awesome, the portions are generous, and the price is right. Everything was fresh. The food is highly authentic - probably the most authentic in Franklin. Inside Los Primos, you'll feel like you're in Mexico. The staff is friendly, and although Spanish is the default language inside (did I mention how authentic it is?), they all speak English. read more

We wandered in about 2 years ago when Los Primos was in another smaller, older location about 100 feet from where they are now in the Goodwill shopping center in 96 HWY in Franklin. This is our Mexican food place of choice. A grocery-bakery with hot prepared foods. We take a stash home for a feast. You can also eat in at the grocery store. Many more tables now available. Our go-to take out: 3-inch stack of piping hot tortillas - warmed on the griddle -pork Al Pastor -barbacoa -lengua -tamales -deep fried jalapeños -grilled chicken quarters -a wheel of queso fresco from the fridge -freshly chopped cilantro and onions and pico de gallo and roasted pepper salsa Sometimes it feels like a little struggle with communication but that's mostly me. These folks work very hard to get you what you need and fast and hot. On your way out, pick up some fresh jalapeños and tomatillos to make your own salsa verde (it couldn't be easier to do--truly--cut, roast 40 mins with onions and garlic, then throw all in blender--voila--season to taste. Delicious). Pick up a stack of corn tortillas to finish out your leftovers and for breakfast eggs. Also pick up crazy sugary good Jaritos--pineapple, tamarindo, strawberry, ahhh. And don't forget the paletas. Cool, fruity and cheap Popsicles. A great end to fatty, spicy tacos. My boys love Bubu Lubus chocolate bars that we discovered there. The food here is always hot, fresh, delicious, and I suspect made by an Abuelita somewhere in the back. read more

What can I say. Best dang tacos in Greater Nashville area! They use fresh corn tortillas, which are delicious. I work in the area so it is convenient for me, but it's worth a drive to get some tacos! The fresh topping bar is always stocked with fresh cut cilantro, onions, lettuce, limes, pico, cucumber, pickled habanero onions and sauces. The red hot sauce is killer! They also have Sandwiches which are to die for. The Cubana is delicious and HUGE! They usually have a few drinks to choose from too, Horchata is standard and others are rotated. Leave your bbq at home, you're not in Tennessee anymore. As a native Californian, Mexican food is my blood. Los Primos Carniceria unapologetically brings Mexico to an affluent suburb of Nashville. Hidden in a run-of-the-mill shopping center adjacent to a Kroger's, you won't find this place unless you know what you are looking for. Since the day I moved here, that was exactly what I wanted to find. I was so refreshed when I walked in to see chicharrones, Mexican bread, and a BIG POT OF CARNITAS bubbling in the back. After countless uninspired restaurants, I finally found my haven. Every single offering at the Taqueria screams authenticity from the fresh corn tortillas, rotisserie chicken, vibrant salsa, and homemade horchata. Even with all of this, the carnitas is the star. Displayed prominently in the open kitchen, the giant pot of pork shoulder delivers the goods fresh all day. If carnitas is not your thing, Los Primos will serve up some prime carne asada or rotisserie chicken to make your tummy happy. For salsa, they offer the basics and do them right: the verde is delightfully mild and tangy, the roja is fierce and complex, the avocado sauce is pleasantly creamy but still spicy, and the pico de gallo has the perfect tomato/jalepeno ratio. Words cannot describe how insanely happy I am to have found this gem. My mission is for all of Nashville to get on board so I don't have to leave every other wannabe restaurant sad for their patrons that just don't know any better. Even the uninspired restaurants in California are miles away from how bad some of these Tennessee places are, and it needs to stop. Today was our first visit to Los Primos Taqueria! The pozole rojo was incredible with a rich broth, fall-apart, melt-in-your-mouth pork and tender hominy. To top the pozole, they include crunchy tostadas, freshly chopped onion and cilantro. Perfection. The tacos al pastor were excellent as well. Delicious chunks of meat nestled in two warm, corn tortillas..we added onion and cilantro that is provided on there extensive condiment bar. Authentic Mexican food that is obviously made with love.
