We've been driving by this place for years (at least 25 years) and finally decided to stop in last night, and I'm glad we did. We were greeted right away by the owner and seated in a comfortable booth in the back. The space offers a nice mix of tables, booths, and bar seating. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the start. After we ordered, she brought out a basket of biscuits, three for the two of us, which was a bit curious, but no complaints here. The second basket came soon after the first. They were light, slightly sweet, and really good. For my entrée, I went with the Louisiana Bayou Shrimp with Crawfish with a side of corn. Wow, great flavor with just the right amount of kick, and they didn't skimp on the shrimp or crawfish. Portion size was spot on. My wife kept it a bit more traditional with the Southern Fried Chicken Salad, which was fresh and very well done. Safe to say, we won't wait another 30 years to come back. I've already got my eye on the blueberry cobbler next time. If you live in Franklin, don't make the same mistake we did, give this place a try sooner rather than later. Cheers! read more

Was in the area this past weekend. Did some research on this establishment and decided to try it out. So glad I did- The food is excellent and very tasty. The presentation and amount per serving was amazing. Would highly recommend either the pork chops or the apricot chicken. I've really grown to appreciate Franklin Chop House for what it is: a restaurant that serves clean, honest food the way it used to be done. There's nothing "nouveau" or overly bougie about it, just thoughtful cooking and a creative menu of classic dishes with subtle twists. Today I had the Hickory Grilled Chicken Salad, and it was excellent. The chicken wasn't artificially smoked, it was actually grilled using hickory, which gave it a real, natural flavor. The salad came with mixed greens, cubed cucumbers, cubed tomatoes, and shredded mozzarella. The greens were crisp, cold, and clearly fresh, and the chicken was perfectly grilled. You can tell the kitchen puts real effort into preparation, and it shows on the plate. From what I've experienced, that same level of care goes into all their dishes. They still keep a chalkboard of daily specials, which feels like a welcome throwback to the way restaurants used to operate. It's a bit of a trip back in time- in the best possible way. Erin was our server tonight and she was a class act. Professional, attentive, and she clearly knew how to take care of guests. Had a chance to try this local favorite and was not disappointed. Our server was great! We asked for some entree suggestions and she gave several based off of her knowledge of the dishes. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip that is topped with Parmesan cheese. It was delicious. I had the ribeye and my wife had the lemon herb chicken. Both were cooked perfectly and the steak tasted like I grilled it myself! They offer complimentary rolls and the butter is out of this world. The menu is full of choices and they offer daily specials that are advertised on a large board. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner and experience and will be back. I've eaten at the Franklin Chop House many, many times over the last 20 years, and it has always been very good. Tonight I got the pot roast which is always delicious, and was tonight. But, sadly, the Strawberry Cobbler was .... terrible. It was basically a square of vanilla cake with what seemed like strawberry jam/preserves poured around it. It tasted heavily of preservatives and artificial flavor, not at all like anything made from fresh strawberries. The little scoop of vanilla ice cream was good, but the cobbler was a complete waste of money. Had I been dining in instead of take out, I would have sent it back after one bite. read more

A staple in Franklin, owned by a local and been around for years. Food is fantastic! Service is wonderful! Atmosphere reminds me of the Cheers show from the 80's. It's a friendly place where you may see some of the same people, and you always feel welcome. I go here, when I'm not hungry for any particular thing. I can't say enough about how well we were treated. I had dinner salad and wife had ribeye steak. Steak was very grisly. A manager noticed her having problems cutting it and checked on us. A very good local spot for family dining. It isn't fancy, but homey and inviting; a staple for locals. The Cancun Salad is my wife's fave: a "taco salad" gone wild. Just try to eat it all! Food was just mediocre, I expected better. Sent my 1/2" thin, undercooked and overly fatty rib eye back because literally 1/2 of it was inedible. Too much grizzle. I never complain about food but I just had to.. A good rib eye is supposed to be about 1-1.5" thick. They gave me another steak but not much better. There is ample parking and the restaurant is very accessible. The facilities are clean, comfortable and conducive to conversations. The staff is friendly and professional. This is a really solid, locally owned place. Food is good and the service is excellent. My favorite thing is that they grill over hickory. Imparts such a delicious smoke flavor. A Franklin institution--it seems that everyone wants to go there for lunch. The service is friendly, efficient, prompt. Prices are fair. The interior is dated but comfortable. No on is rushing you out. The food is above average but not great. The rattlesnake pasta--which could use more kick--is my go-to. Franklin Chop house was a pleasant surprise. It's a staple in Franklin for locals, so I had to try it out while I was in town. It wasn't too busy when we arrived and we were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and checked on us throughout our whole experience. She made sure our glasses stayed full and any extra dishes were cleared right away. She brought us biscuits and butter to start us off. Those biscuits were highly addictive, I ended up eating them all I didn't mean to - I just couldn't stop. I ordered sweet tea and the blackened chicken Alfredo. Let me tell you, that blackened chicken Alfredo was so delicious. It came with garlic toast. I basically licked my plate clean. That's how good it was. The blackened chicken was seasoned to perfection and cooked just right. The alfredo was very creamy and packed with flavors. It's reasonably priced for the amount of food that you get, and they have lunch specials and different daily specials . They keep their restaurant clean, and the inside of their restaurant is decorated kind of old school with the history of Franklin as part of their decor. There is plenty of parking and is easy to find with it being off of a main road. Overall, it was a good experience, and if I'm in this area again, I am putting it on my stop by list. read more

My wife and I stopped there for lunch. We were seated promptly and our server came over within seconds of us sitting down. He took our drink order and was extremely polite and professional. We got our drinks and we both ordered the ham and turkey sandwich on French bread. It was a decent sandwich, the bread could have been toasted a little more, it was a little soggy to eat but it tasted fine. The restaurant was very clean, well lit and had a very cozy vibe to it. I absolutely love the food and service here! It's top notch! The food is made fresh and comes out pretty quickly. I have eaten here several times and have been pleased . The medallion beef pieces and chicken tenders are so juicy and flavorful. The servers are attentive, friendly, and very patient. You even get free servings of drop biscuits with butter. The Mac and cheese isn't anything special. I enjoyed the green beans and mashed potatoes dishes. The only con I would say is that I wish the biscuits were not so crumbly and that the butter was more soft serve. Unfortunately I cannot remember his name but he was very friendly and polite. He would come over several times to check on us and our meals. We've live in Mid Tn for almost 20 years and have never visited The Franklin Chop House, not for any particular reason, just wasn't on the radar. We have seriously been missing out! We came in for an early dinner a couple weeks ago and we loved it. The atmosphere is welcoming and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. The prices were very reasonable, I had the Prime Rib special and my wife chose the sirloin. Both cuts of meat were flavorful and tender, and the sides were also very good. We were in town for the Pumpkin fest and stopped on our way home. With no idea what to expect we walked in and it was surprisingly dated. It reminded me of a Big Boy restaurant in my hometown.
