Food is amazing service always great. Best brisket I've had in a long time. It's all good.

I found myself over at Bellevue for dinner, 2 hours before my hockey game. I wanted quality food but not super carb heavy but also not something that could potentially wreck my stomach. After all, can you imagine having digestive problems while playing hockey? I love barbecue so I thought I'd try this place. I walked in and it wasn't at all busy at 5:32. However when I finished my order, the line was out the door. I asked the cashier what was good and the manager (maybe owner) walked over and I asked him. I wanted ribs or brisket, but needed a 2nd opinion. He said he would choose brisket because theirs is USDA Prime and he would put it against any other barbecue restaurant in Tennessee. Those are some bold words. So I ordered the brisket platter (fatty portion) with green beans and cinnamon baked apples. What I received was 3 good sized portions (1/2 pound) of fatty brisket. The meat was tender, melt in your mouth without an overbearing amount of fat clumped together. The bark was salty and very peppery. It was actually good enough to eat without a sauce. Speaking of, there was only one sauce on the table, so I used that. It was a sweet sauce, definitely honey-based but not overly sweet like other honey-based sauces I've had in the past. The thing is I love everything honey-related, so I would definitely buy this to take home. It was so good, I was scavenging for brisket fibers on my plate. So I praised the brisket but I think the shocker was the green beans. These were hands down, the best green beans I've ever had...ever. Salty, tender, peppery, with chunks of meat and fat, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Who would have thought that a side could be that good? Last but not least, the Cinnamon Baked Apples. I love baked/fried apples. Something about the tart and sweetness brings me back every time. The apples were soft, but not mushy. I would have liked them to be a little more tender and more slices of apples. I think there was more sauce than apples but nevertheless, they were great. Overall I'm glad I visited Honeyfire for the first time. I'm here often (near Bellevue) so I'll definitely be coming back again and again. read more

We were trying to decide where to eat in Assembly Hall and as we walked by HoneyFire the smell drew us in. The pulled pork sandwich was tender and I enjoyed their sauce. The smoked chicken was seasoned really well. I didn't care for the Mac and cheese but I didn't expect much when I saw it was queso Mac and cheese. Fantastic! I don't love bbq but we stopped here on our way out of town. The burger was delicious, fresh, hot, not smokey. Flat fries were unique and good! On a road trip for spring break my family and I were passing through Nashville around dinner time. Even though it was a little out of the way, HoneyFire BBQ's menu and pictures of their food impressed us, so we detoured for dinner. I got a three meat plate (smoked sausage and a double order of ribs) with queso mac and cheese and sweet corn pudding, my wife got the queso brisket appetizer, one kid got the turkey club salad, and the other got kids popcorn chicken with baked cinnamon apples. We also ordered honey flat fries and wings with their honey dry rub to share. All of the food was great. The ribs were moist, even though I only got them with dry rub, and the sausage was good quality. My wife and son that shared some of the items that had queso on them thought it had a little too much heat, but it was perfect as far as I was concerned, particularly on the mac and cheese. They don't have cornbread, which is sad, but the sweet corn pudding was good alternative. I liked the sweet rub on the wings and wish I had bought a bottle or two before we left. The kids both liked their salad and popcorn chicken. We sat outside on a perfect night in the low 60's. The vibe is modern and relaxed with good rock and classic rock playing, a few unobtrusive TVs so you can catch a game, but it doesn't feel like a sports bar. There's even a full bar in the back with a strong bourbon selection, so whiskey fans will be very happy here. Now for the food: I can only speak to the brisket because it's the only thing I ever order; it's that good! The brisket plate is outstanding (you can choose fatty or lean, but the fatty is best), and the sides are all solid. The brisket tacos are another must-try. As for sides, the cole slaw is creamy, fresh, and classic. The cold pimento macaroni is a fun twist and absolutely delicious. But my favorite side by far is the bourbon baked beans, made with three types of beans, bacon, and BBQ sauce. They've got a unique flavor with just the right kick of heat. So good! The BBQ sauce is house-made and really different. It's dark, tangy, with a sticky touch of honey sweetness. I'd happily buy bottles of it if they sold it. And I think they do. I'm not sure how I first heard about honey fire barbecue, but man I am glad that I went there. My friends and I went out for lunch and I'll try different versions of the pick two meat platters. Between us we tried the brisket pulled pork, sausage, and chicken. The sausage was by far the best meat available although all of them were really good. The sides were also delicious. We had some of the best beans I've ever had, incredible corn, pudding, and banana pudding with Nutter butters that rocked our world. The coleslaw was all right, and the mac & cheese was good as well. It was a Saturday afternoon during lunch. There was a lot of people there and the line did get long at some points. I'dI liked that there was both an outdoor and indoor seating area as there were a lot of kids inside. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. Part of me is really glad that it is in Bellmead and part of me is really sad as I'd love to eat here more often, but my waistline would prefer I didn't. My barbecue resume goes back a solid 20+ years and I've enjoyed watching the Nashville community grow with places like Martin's barbecue joint, porker, and the granddaddy of all Nashville barbecue: Jack's! All of that to say I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to Q, especially with my travels to Memphis over the years, rounding out my resume. So, imagine my surprise when just a few miles from my house here in Bellevue I learned of honey fire barbecue. My initial reaction was skepticism, but after many trips, both dining in and taking out it is one of our favorite go to places, especially for their wings. Their barbecue is solid, but what differentiates honey fire is, for us, is their smoked wings with their own dry rub seasoning. And, here's the kicker, they have a wonderful selection of whiskeys you can enjoy while sitting at the bar eating your wings. The staff is very knowledgeable on their bourbons and whiskeys. my one criticism would be. They often are out of some of the more exotic and I'd like to see them stay on top of that a little bit better as they've been out the last couple times. If they don't have a better process for maintaining inventory, then they need to keep their menus Updated, as my wife called out a couple the last time we were there, and they were out of both of them. I don't think it's just bad timing. In terms of ambience, I would rate it good tofair. Can get a little bit cold and loud due to the concrete floors, etc., but on the positive side they have nice outdoor seating options when the weather permits. As a Californian, I wasn't sure how my opinion on authentic BBQ would hold up, but my first experience with Tennessee BBQ set the bar. After a nearly 4-hour flight and not eating all day, I wasted no time in finding a place on Yelp. I ordered the Par Four, which included brisket, sausage, ribs, and turkey, along with a salad, a few sides, and, of course, banana pudding. I drove about 40 minutes from my hotel to the restaurant, and let me tell you, I would have gladly driven over two hours for this BBQ. The quality is unparalleled compared to anything I've had back in California--it's like comparing fine dining to a diner. The food was so good that I couldn't finish it all in one sitting and found myself waking up at 3:30 am to enjoy the leftovers, which were just as delicious, if not more so. This experience has earned a solid 5/5 on my quest for great BBQ. Next on my list is some Nashville hot chicken and a fried catfish sandwich. Pretty decent bbq. Coming from living in Texas it's better than most places but TX is still king. Went with the brisket plate. Brisket had a nice bark that was seasoned well and the brisket slices had nice fattiness to it. The brisket itself was surprisingly a little dry though it looked really moist and glistened. The bbq sauce wasn't too sweet and thick and complimented it well. The Cole slaw was very lightly dressed, a little too light for my liking. The cornbread was great as it had a nice corn taste and texture and was moist.
