Their pool doesn't have a strong chlorine smell and I like how its not completely closed off. The tent is well ventilated and I like how they open the vinyl on hot days. My son feels comfortable and safe. Sandie has always been very helpful since my first interaction with her. She even offered a tour of the facility and a trial swim before we can commit. Unfortunately, constant coach changes meant our younger daughter never learned to swim despite two years of lessons -- every time progress was made, a new instructor reset the process. When we finally found a coach who worked for both girls, the school switched them without any discussion. When we raised concerns, the person running the school (Maggie) was dismissive and condescending rather than willing to listen. We also dealt with frequent last-minute cancellations (Sandy expecting immediate response last minute ). The coaches themselves were often great, but management's poor communication made it impossible to continue. Get all commitments in writing before enrolling.

There are a few things that I wish were different. Because the group classes are 3 kids to 1 instructor, each kid is only getting about 10 minutes of working time. The rest of the time they are sitting in the steps while the instructor works with the other kids. Secondly, it does seem like the instructor turn around is high. My son has gone through 3 instructors in as many months. It also would be helpful if we knew when/how often they are tested for advancement. I initially thought it was once a month, but I don't think that's the case. If they tested the last week of the month on a monthly basis would be nice. Third, and the one that bugs me the most is they don't enforce their "No shoes on the pool deck" policy. It's a great rule, but not great if it's not enforced. Every class parents come into the shower area with their street shoes on. I'm sorry, but for the safety of the kids (and adults adhering to the policy) shoes should be taken off. It is so gross to imagine what is in the bottom of their shoes and my kid and I are walking all over that in wet, bare feet. And it's not like people don't know or that the signs are hidden. The signs are posted on the door leading to the shower and pool area. Other than that, the instructors are nice, but for the price it's a little steep, especially if I'm paying for 30 minutes and only getting 10 minutes of instructional time. I like the convenience of its proximity to where I live, but I may start looking for a different swim school .

But this experience completely changed that. A huge part of that is thanks to Kelly, the owner. She is incredibly patient, calm, and intuitive as a coach. She meets you exactly where you are, never rushes the process, and somehow knows exactly how to help you push past fear without feeling overwhelmed. The environment is supportive, encouraging, and completely judgment-free--something that makes all the difference when you're learning as an adult. If you've ever been hesitant or afraid of the water, I can honestly say this place can help you overcome it. Exceptional facility, outstanding coaches. Grateful doesn't even begin to cover it. We had…read moresuch a great experience with Farnsworth from beginning sign-up to Izzy getting her tadpole report card and lollipop. ;) Coming into The swim school early June, Izzy was very scared of the water and would not put her face in at all. She cried the first lesson and wanted to get out of the pool. Jaynie and the teachers are very patient with the kids , but also know how to keep them in the water through the crying to get them to a more comfortable place. I love their approach and how they focused on technique first (big arms, blowing bubbles, strong kicks), and progressed to teaching a little more each day. Leena was Izzy's instructor for 2 of the sessions and I was blown away by what she could do by the end! She was able to go under, touch the bottom of the pool, hold her breath for a few seconds at a time, jump in and go under, and float on her back for a few seconds. Izzy gained a lot of confidence in her swimming this summer. She told me each day she was excited to go in, get rings and put her head under. Most all of this is to Leena's credit. She is so positive and engaging, and is really great at building trust and swim technique. She may not know how to swim alone yet, but by next summer I'm sure she will be able to! ;) Thank you Farnham!

It'll really come together, I'm sure, when the pool deck gets redone this coming winter. Our cabana club was a bright spot of exercise and fun during the pandemic -- they worked so hard to make sure members could get some safe pool time in all season, even extended the season! It made a world of difference, especially for our boys. We're happy to continue our membership here and enjoy long summer days with friends by the pool!

Because of COVID, we didn't use the pool at all this past summer (2020), but that was a matter of personal choice. I simply wasn't comfortable with being around other people any more than was absolutely necessary. The management did a great job of instituting a reservation system and keeping things as safe as possible for those that were a little less risk-averse, though.
