My wife and I came in this restaurant and I immediately purchased a 3 dollar soda to be able to use their restroom. As I entered the bathroom; the owner Silvestre Torres yelled at me "only one gets to use the bathroom." When I came out, he would not allow my wife to also use the restroom unless as he yelled out, she bought a "3 dollar drink". He was leaning on the window outside yelling inside to us bWe were flabbergasted at his horrible treatment so decided to leave. He continued to yell at us as we left. I tried to take his photo but he turned around and wouldn't show his face. The other employees were sympathetic to us. They seemed embarrassed by behavior. No one was dining in the restaurant which is not surprising considering how he treated us. The restaurants around us were very busy. Shameful treatment by this person. read more

This place is a must visit during Taco Tuesdays. You can get 10 tacos for $10 and they never skimp on the meat! We love their carnitas and el pastor, but really you can't go wrong with anything here. The tacos also come with a healthy helping of limes, sliced radishes, cucumbers, and red onions that help change up the texture and add refreshing breaks between mouthfuls of perfectly cooked meats. Also be sure to try both of their sauces! The red is my personal choice because spicy, but amazingly smoky. This place gets overlooked by the adjacent cheese steak institutions, but deserve just as much recognition for their amazing tacos! read more

I tried out their 10 for $10 Tuesday special today. It's 10 tacos with either carnitas, pastor, or pollo. You have to get all 10 of the same meat; topped with onions, cilantro, and lime. We got 10 pollo with toppings on the side. It included a cup of a mild green sauce and an orange hot sauce. I really liked the green sauce. The hot sauce was spicy, but a little salty. The service was ok. The wait for the food was over a hour with a restaurant that had about three other tables. The food didn't wow me I got the chicken flautas. It was served with beans and they didn't have any flavor they seem very old. The flautas had so much lettuce and it was very unnecessary. I went on Tuesday for their 10 for $10. You're able to get mixes of 5 so I got their al pastor, beef, pollo, and tripe tacos. They don't skimp on meat and it's double tortilla. You walk by Taquitos de Puebla on an ordinary day and don't think much of it. It looks like your typical South Philly Mexican food place, like any other. The inside isn't much to look at, with limited decorations and an open kitchen, but this is a hidden gem of South Philly. On the weekends the place has karaoke until late in the evening with a lively crowd that heartily enjoys the BYO option the place offers. It is sometimes loud but it is also lively with singing and a great community. Although they recently raised their prices, the food on my list for top Mexican food around. My favorite: the chicken tortas. A torta is a sandwich. It is a seriously GIANT sandwich. Half of one of these things will fill you up in a serious way. The chicken tortas are made with fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, two different kind of cheese, jalepeno, mayo, avocado, onion, and probably a lot more ingredients. I can't overstate how awesome these sandwiches are. You absolutely have to try them. It takes these guys a little while to prepare the food but that's because the food is so awesome. If you eat in, they serve chips and salsa while you wait. Be careful, the salsa is hot! I have also tried the cactus salad, burritos, tacos, and more from Taquitos de Puebla. All are very good. I'm only rating 3 stars because the agua de Jamaica and Horchata is good and my bf really enjoyed his cemita or whatever that thing he ate was. Super filling and the chorizo is to die for. The salsas and chorizo is definitely on the spicer so if you're not into that I'd recommend the beef, my friend say she enjoyed it. I'm a pain in the Asian assss. I hate peppers. I ordered my shrimp fajitas and asked if they could replace peppers for mushroom for me: (meaning change their whole recipe) guess what? They did it!!!!!!! I gobbled the whole thing down like a fat turkey. Not many places will do that for you because mushroom cost is so much more than peppers and onions. Super happy. One of a zillion taquerias in the Italian Market area. Overall, this one is far from my favorite and probably on par with Plaza Garibaldi (Garibaldi might be a bit better actually). I have had good luck with their namesake dish (chicken taquitos) as well as some of the more exotic tacos (lengua), as well as al pastor and chorizo. Al pastor is pretty good here. But they won't be unseating Mole Poblano, Tamalex, or El Jarocho (not great for pastor, but good for all other tacos) by any means. Fine if in the area and a Philly Classic, but nothing that great. read more

This is one of my go-to Mexican places. It's only a block away from my apartment, which helps. 1. The soup here is delicious. It's worth it just for the soup. 2. I like the quesadillas. They are stocked full of your filings and Oaxacan cheese. 3. The burritos are really where it's at. 4. They have an awesome super spicy red salsa they serve with the burritos. 5. I stumbled across this place on a whim wandering around Passyunk Square on a Sunday morning and am so happy I did! I ordered the Alambre al Paiso and was in pineapple cheesy pork heaven. Please try it! They have a spit for the al pastor! Their cemitas, and portions in general, are huge. They were good, but I was too distracted by the alambre to give them the appropriate attention. Wow, what an amazing find! We were in the area with some friends having drinks, and saw this gem on the corner. Now being that we used to live in Phoenix, we're VERY into good Mexican food and this spot was exactly like the places we used to frequent on the West coast. We decided to split a few things. We went with the pastor nachos, the milanesa (breaded steak) torta and the taquito appetizer. The torta was awesome, exactly what I'm used to getting at these joints. The taquitos were the best part of the meal, VERY crispy and served with a healthy portion of guacamole and the nachos were piled high with beans, cheese, meat, pico de gallo and jalapenos. All total, the bill was just over $25! Definitely recommend checking it out for some very authentic Mexican food. read more

I had the tacos de costilla and they were really good. The meat was very tender and it had an amazing crust on the edges of it. The tacos al pastor were as good if not better. The meat was juicy and tasted as if it had been marinating overnight! The sauces were really spicy I think too spicy, but the tacos were good enough to be a standalone dish. The cemita was also very tasty. As soon as I bit into it a rush of flavors flooded my taste buds the steak was also very nice and required very little effort to chew. I spent the day in Philadelphia August 15, 2020. While my sister and friends ate at Geno's, I had to search for a vegan meal. I went into this place. That it was hot inside was an understatement. My problem with this place is that it had tons of flies flying everywhere and the workers used NO gloves to prepare meals. This is disgusting. Stayed long enough to grab a menu so I can write this review. The Department of Heath definitely needs to go and check this place. Don't eat here. I am a very hard please for Mexican food,this place is one of my favorites! We got the tacos Al Pastor and the Torta, both under $10! The Torta was jam packed with everything delicious, 2 types of cheese, jalapeno, breaded beef, fried beans, lettuce, tomato, avocado.. Its making me full just thinking about it. You have to be really hungry, or determined to eat the entire thing it was huge! The tacos are $8 for 3 and they are jam packed as well with 2 tortillas per taco, and they are the regular tortillas not the baby sized one you get at El Vez. Everything was tasty even the salsa and chips they give you while you are waiting. Would recommend it here anytime you are in the mood for some authentic Mexican, and you feel like you stepped into Mexico for 2 blocks as well. read more

I'm sad to report that these people would not let my 4 year old use their bathroom, "Costumers Only." If that's the kind of service they give to a toddler what type of work ethic must they have in the back?
