Ordered a pork and plantain burrito for pickup today. I walked into an entirely empty restaurant at 4 PM. The coolest feature of the place are the recycled church pews. They create booths around the tables that are adorned with nothing other than 1-2 hot sauce bottles each. My order was produced quickly. That's about all I can say that was good. The burrito was filled with grease and pork fat, and it had NO plantains. Could not finish it because it was unappetizing. I wish I could get my money back. read more

Ordered for the first time via delivery to work. Ordered placed via their website. Delivery was timely. Food is fresh and delicious. I ordered the shrimp tacos that are flavorful and delicious. However, I wish each regular sized double corn soft tortilla had 3 pieces of shrimp. 2 medium sized shrimp on each taco is not very filling. There's more tortilla than shrimp. THEY HAVE NO MARGARITAS!!! We were there today and they had no idea why I thought they had alcohol. We told the server there was a note from the owner on Yelp that they now have a full bar and lots of margarita pictures. Well, apparently they do not. What they do have is great food though, so there's that. We had chips and salsa and the salsa was fresh and spicy, which we loved! We then shared steak and shrimp fajitas, which were also good. The steak was a bit overcooked for my liking but the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Fresh veggies, pinto beans, pico, sour cream, guac, etc. The tortillas also tasted freshly made. I personally have attended this establishment several times in the past month. Their food is quite delicious. Particularly, I can speak on the chicken tacos which are very juicy and crunchy at the same time! The environment inside is great and beautiful -- they often have popular songs playing or songs that fit the theme of the season! This is an excellent place to take your kids or really anyone. I consider myself lucky to be able to eat here as often as I do! Additionally the service is excellent-- there is often one person running the table service and considering this, they do truly an amazing job! Surprisingly I saw a review quite negative towards this establishment posted my someone of the name of Ludwig. All of the ingredients were there but it just didn't work for me at all. Shrimp tacos had way to much onion & cilantro. Easy enough to deal with when silverware is provided. Filling and good just nothing special. Music was great. Salsa bottles on the tables should be wiped clean. I can't deny the great reviews from others. I've ordered food from this location a few times, it's not my first choice for mexican food but sometimes my first (or second) choice isn't available... Yesterday happened to be one of those days. Despite my delivery coming pretty quickly, my food arrived already cold, my order of plantains were severely dry and overcooked and seemed to have been reheated on more than one occasion, the nachos looked like a bowl of dog food and the steak tacos were completely lacking flavor (despite being drowned in onions in cilantro). I would have been willing to overlook all of this as just a bad choice on my behalf and kept this review to myself had I not almost broken a tooth when biting into one of the tacos. Upon spitting out the offending morsel of food I was completely disgusted to find a piece of metal IN MY TACO. I have no idea what this is from or why someone would continue to assemble and serve a taco with a large piece of hard metal enclosed. We ordered here for lunch bc one of my colleagues was buying. This wasn't my first choice by a long shot but who am I to turn down some free food? I'm somewhat tempted to share a half-eaten pizza slice on the sidewalk corner with the pigeons should one cross my path. Anecdotes from friends (when I say friends, I mean friend) indicate this place may or may not include "metal piece" in their ingredients list. Nevertheless, hanger overtook me that faithful Friday afternoon and against my better judgment, I participated in the order. Word on the street is that the guac burrito is to fucking die. Also, there's an option to have it served completely drenched in a sauce of your choice (red, green, or mole...not that I know what any of those options mean). Bc of #diet2018 I went with the next best thing of taco bowl with veggies and obviously, a side of guac. The food finally came. My taco "salad"s physical appearance was not exactly appealing but I was fucking starving to death so dug in. This place is the same style of Mexican as Taco Bell however Taco Bell does it better. The veggie component of the taco salad was nothing to write home about, I actually was unsure about the boundaries of different ingredients because it was all like one mush of shit on top of a thin layer of refried beans that was more like a paste, all overlying a substance I could visually identify as rice. The fried taco shell was delicious as is anything that is fried, especially carbs. The one saving grace of this shit was the guac which was delicious but how do you fuck up guac? Anyways, it was cheap and a ton of fucking food. I was full for HOURS. I was actually too full to even run when I left work and had to wait a while, I was STILL full at that point. Cramps galore. I was pretty meh about this place until precisely 22 hours after consumption when the events that unfolded inside my lower GI tract could accurately be equated with hurricane maria rolling over puerto rico. I was one step away from needing IV fluids to maintain my intravascular volume status. I can't say for sure that this place was the culprit because none of my colleagues were sick to my knowledge but the timeline is right. Still laughing at the taco "salad" I got from here (in a good way!) Ordered from UberEats a grilled shrimp salad in the edible taco bowl, chicken flautas, and a Jarrito of course. The flautas were good, but not nearly as good as Rosy's Taco Bar. The salad was something else, though. I had went into the night planning on eating somewhat healthy, expecting a nice bed of roughage with a protein on top, and what I got was a soccer ball sized foil package containing a steamy, crunchy edible taco bowl, clearly fresh out of the oven, filled to the brim with gorgeous, plump jumbo shrimp with grill marks and about a cup and a half of mixed Mexican shredded cheese...oh, and some shredded lettuce buried somewhere underneath all of that. If you're looking for a Sweetgreen salad, this ain't it chief. But one cheesy shrimpy bite atop a crunchy section of taco bowl and you won't care. read more

We've ordered food from here a few times. It's been okay depending on what you get. This last time we ate there we decided to dine in since we saw they serve margaritas. We decided to stay since we were hungry. The food was not good. The salsa and chips they brought to our table was clearly store bought. The salsa was basically Valentina hot sauce with a crap ton of diced up Cilantro stirred in it. It was obvious it was Valentina hot sauce because they had a bottle on the table and then a whole wall of full of jars of the stuff next to the dining area. I even tasted a dash of it and it tasted the same as the salsa minus the heavy cilantro. My pork carnitas were okay. Nothing special. My husband got pork nachos and the toppings were basically pork, onions, shredded cheese, and a ton of jalapeños you get out a jar. The chips were again your basic store bought chips that broke as you picked them up. He did not like the nachos. We could have made the exact meal at home. I'm shocked by some of the reviews for this place. 5 stars? A lot of reviews have mention green enchiladas or burritos with red sauce or green sauce. I've had these here before and they are okay. Honestly I don't know what's up with these other ratings. This place is authentic asf and with that comes maybe slightly slower service but if you've ever traveled abroad you understand this. While I ordered green sauce, there was barely any sauce on the dish, instead just a GIANT plop of sour cream, which kinda took away from the flavor. Couldn't even find the green sauce for the first half of my bites. Fitting in the platter, the rice and beans portion was pretty small too, also covered in sour cream. The WORST Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten from! Let me start off by saying that the food is poorly made. I ordered the steak quesadilla and my steak was unseasoned & my tortilla was extremely wet & soggy, I also requested peppers and onions & they left those out. I added a side of guacamole (that they charge $4 for & the size is extremely small) & my guacamole was NOT fresh at all & had a very weird smell to it. When the delivery driver showed up with my food I noticed how dirty the delivery bag was. I should have done my homework and checked with Yelp reviews first. I live down the street, but was walking from center city (round 2:00 PM), and REALLY needed to use the bathroom (don't judge me, we have all been there), I went in and asked to use to the bathroom, (yes I DID tell them It was urgent), and they said, customers only. I would have understood if it was packed, or had any people already in there, but it was so empty, you could imagine tumble weeds rolling by. I appreciate places like this because it is local and right in the neighborhood. If you're around the area, you can walk to it and get good food. The place is creatively decorated to make you feel like you left the U.S. and traveled somewhere else in Mexico perhaps. It is on the pricey side for Mexican food. But I enjoyed the pork soft taco a lot. Dessert however was disappointing when I ordered their fried ice cream, which was not fried at all. Instead the ice cream was covered with corn flakes. The corn flakes became soggy and tasteless. I would come back once in awhile, but I prefer Don Memo in Upper Darby instead. Also, this place needs a new sign because the sign that is up said it is a grocery store. This made me confused when I walked by. My friend didn't know it was a restaurant and was surprised when I recommenced that we try the place out. read more

After waiting over an hour for my food I reached out but never got through to anyone. I tried to reach out to UBEREats and they had to cancel the order for me. I've had good and not so good experiences with the takeout at Tres Jalapenos. I've ordered the avocado salad 3 times so far and never has it come with cheese. Note that the menu says it comes with "fresh cheese". I've even asked for there to be extra cheese and still none at all. Tonight I asked for the dressing on the side so my left overs wouldn't be soggy the next day. And I received no dressing on the salad or on the side at all (and of course no cheese). So now I'm eating a dry salad. I have had their taco salad which is very good and do recommend. Their nachos are very good as well. read more
