Chips and Salsa on the patio overlooking the Falls
    Wayne R.

We went here right after the lunch crowd so we probably got one of the best seats at the tall tables by the railing overlooking the water falls. My Mom and I had great service. We ordered and I had Carnitas w Rice and beans. My Carnitas was so fatty that by time I cleaned the fat off I had filled the side dish that the tortillas wrapped in foil came on. I never send food back, ever. But, this day I did. She totally understood . She asked me if I wanted to try ig again and I have had this happen before at El Jerecho in Brevard. So, I remembered the Pancho Special from memory so I asked for that. It came out perfectly. Grilled shrimp and grilled chicken with cheese over rice and beans on the side w some tortillas. My Mom had their Taco Salad and it was fairly small. I think they should have gone up to a bigger size flour tortilla to make the bowl. The salad waz okay. Not much lettuce at all. And it only came with their mild Taco Bell flavored sauce. They did'nt have any Ranch or other dressings that day. They have a large menu and a lot of people dining here but if this restaurant wasn't in that beautiful location I don't think that it would make it. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants around these days and You have to put out a great product if You're wanting people to return. I've made Carnitas many times and I would know if I was giving fat to one of my friends or family. The Chef wasn't so busy as to miss this. He or she did'nt care about what They're serving out to the customers. I hardly ever give 3 stars out of 5 but I even talked to my Mom who eats out a lot and she thought 3 was adequate also I will try this place again when I go to my Dr in Toxaway again and give them another try Mexican is my favorite food

Surprisingly, exceeded expectations as I've mostly just discounted Americanized Mexican cuisine as not worth the stop. My rellenos were cooked perfectly, whilst my wife's enchiladas were your typical run of the mill you can find anywhere. Chips and salsa were fresh so that's a bonus that not every spot offers and quite tasty too. Rice n beans were definitely delish and the ambiance was on point. Offer charro beans by the warm fireplace and we may have a 5 star winner!

Service was mediocre, the only thing that saved them was the milanesa chicken torta and the micheladas, the margaritas need help and also they need ac.

The BEST Mexican food I've had in a long time! This restaurant is situated off 64 with a beautiful view of the waterfall in Toxaway. Everyone gets complimentary (and yummy) chips and salsa for the table. We started with a small order of the Chori queso, which was very good!! if anyone is wondering, the small size queso was plenty for our table of three adults (one of us did not dig in much but we definitely had leftover). I had the pineapple meal, which is on the menu as Pina vaquero and it was absolutely divine! I love that it came with shrimp, chicken and chorizo, as well as vegetables mixed in and with a side of beans and rice. The side of beans and rice was delicious, very authentic. Mama recommends the Pollo Loco and my stepdad had the chimichanga which he has every time they visit Los Vaqueros. They have a lot of options for the little ones including corn dog and chicken tenders (my toddler is so picky so he didn't touch anything we ordered him). I found the wine to be a great deal. Some were offered by the glass but the cab and a few others were priced based on half bottles so I got the Louis Martini Cabernet and it was perfect. If I lived closer I would be a regular customer!

We were here the weekend of Valentine's Day. We loved the food! From the complementary chips and salsa, to our main dish, everything tasted fresh and delicious. Service was fast and friendly. Ambiance is really nice, we were seated by the window with a beautiful view of the outdoor.

The service is friendly, the prices are low, but most importantly, the food is delicious! The mild salsa on the table was some of the best ever. I ordered the arroz con pollo and paid only $1 extra for veggies added in (broccoli, zucchini, peppers, onions, and tomatoes) and it put the taste over the top! And my order still was under $10! The kids meals were very reasonable (less than $5 each) and a good portion of yummy food. My husband had the fajitas, and was impressed by how much meat was there, instead of just fluffing it up with tons of onions like some places do. We all ate well and were pleased with our meals. I can't wait to get back to Rosman and eat here again! Check it out :D

We saw they had food too, mostly tapas style; but pretty extensive, so we ordered a few appetizers to share as well. We ordered the edamame which had truffle salt and soy sauce spices. It was a little messy, but really good, and a great deal at $7. We also ordered the bacon-wrapped scallops, ($15). There was a sweet Thai bourbon sauce on those; and the reviews were mixed. My sister thought they were too sweet and my daughter's boyfriend and my husband thought they were delicious! Although they do have a full bar; we only ordered beer & wine. The two wines ordered at the table were Old Soul Pinot Noir and a Sauvignon Blanc. Again prices were good at $7. Three of us had beer; Miller Lite & Michelob Ultra for just a few bucks each. Our visit was at 5:30 on a Friday and the place was just starting to fill up. They had limited seating due to the covid pandemic and there were tables, high tops, the bar area plus a patio. It was chilly on our visit, but there was a group on the patio taking advantage of the cool weather with the tower heater. There only appeared to be 2 employees out front; the bartender & one server.....they both did their best to keep up with orders as the place became busier and busier. I really liked this place & it has a great location right on the main highway. The prices were good and there were many options for eating and drinking with very affordable prices.

I suppose I should have written this review a year ago, but after what happened this week, I knew I…read morehad to finally share it. The first time I visited this restaurant last year, I was immediately impressed. The salsa was fantastic, and the quality and freshness of the ingredients in the spinach and mushroom quesadilla and chili rellenos really stood out to me. I went home and talked about the food so much that I was determined to bring my then-fiancé here so he could experience it for himself. We got married two months ago and for his birthday this week, the timing finally worked out--and, of course, everything was just as delicious as I remembered. The food was wonderful, but what really stood out was the service. Our waitress was fantastic, and the other staff members continuously checked on us, chatted with us, and made us feel genuinely welcome. There is a warmth and friendliness to this restaurant that you can feel almost immediately. It feels less like you are simply eating at a restaurant and more like you are being welcomed into a community. Then, in the middle of dinner, I realized I couldn't find my wedding ring. Because apparently, I enjoy adding a little excitement to an otherwise perfectly pleasant birthday dinner. At first, I assumed I had left it at home or perhaps accidentally dropped it down the drain. It had been a little loose, so I was worried but figured there had to be a reasonable explanation. I still couldn't find it and even called the restaurant back to see if someone had found it. The next morning, however, I suddenly remembered exactly what had happened: I had dropped some salsa on my wedding ring during dinner. When I wiped it off with a napkin, the ring must have slipped off and gone into the napkins. At this point, I had one thought, "Oh no, I know exactly where my wedding ring is and what I'm going to have to do to find it." I called the restaurant, and they had already looked for it the night before. When I came in that morning, they let me search the restaurant myself. When I couldn't find it, I asked if I could look through the trash. I came prepared--with gloves, waterproof shoes, a mask, and extra trash bags--because I was fully prepared to dig through it myself. Basically, I looked like I was preparing for a very low-budget episode of Dirty Jobs: Wedding Edition. (If you're wondering where my husband is in all this, I'm super stubborn and left him while he was in the middle of getting ready to come with me because I didn't want him to dig through trash on his birthday.) But George, the owner, and his daughter, Hilda, absolutely insisted that George would look for it instead. So we went out to the dumpster, and George climbed in and began going through massive bags of trash filled with everyone's discarded food, napkins, and everything else from the night's dinner service. He went through one bag. Then another. Then a third. By the third bag, we were getting close to accepting that the ring was simply gone. And then we saw it. MY WEDDING RING! After three enormous bags of restaurant garbage, my tiny wedding band was sitting there like it had been on a bender and was finally ready to come home. I was obviously thrilled to have my ring back, but honestly, that isn't even the part of this story that means the most to me. What I am most excited about is being able to tell people about the kind of people who own and work at this restaurant. This is what genuine customer service looks like. More than that, it is genuine kindness. There aren't many people who would willingly climb into a dumpster and dig through three enormous bags of garbage for someone else's tiny wedding band, especially when there was no guarantee we would ever find it. George and Hilda didn't have to do that. They could have simply let me look through the trash myself and wished me luck. Instead, they went completely out of their way to help me. In a world where it can sometimes feel like the internet is determined to convince us that people are terrible, experiences like this remind me that there are still so many good people who will help someone simply because they can. So yes, I am grateful to have my wedding ring back. But I am even more grateful to have a story about a restaurant owner who was willing to climb into a dumpster to help a customer find hers. I am incredibly grateful to George, Hilda, and everyone at this restaurant--not just for helping me find my ring, but for reminding me what a welcoming, caring community can look like. That is the kind of place this is. The food is delicious. The service is wonderful. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. And apparently, if you accidentally throw your wedding ring away with your napkin, they will literally help you retrieve it from the depths of the dumpster. I will absolutely continue coming here, and I will continue telling everyone I know to come here, too. I just may be a little more careful with my wedding ring next time.
