We stopped in here after checking in to the Fairway Forest Resort. It is in the same plaza on Highway 64E and we were waiting for the others in our party to arrive, so we figured we'd have a quick drink while waiting. We saw they had food too, mostly tapas style; but pretty extensive, so we ordered a few appetizers to share as well. We ordered the edamame which had truffle salt and soy sauce spices. It was a little messy, but really good, and a great deal at $7. We also ordered the bacon-wrapped scallops, ($15). There was a sweet Thai bourbon sauce on those; and the reviews were mixed. My sister thought they were too sweet and my daughter's boyfriend and my husband thought they were delicious! Although they do have a full bar; we only ordered beer & wine. The two wines ordered at the table were Old Soul Pinot Noir and a Sauvignon Blanc. Again prices were good at $7. Three of us had beer; Miller Lite & Michelob Ultra for just a few bucks each. Our visit was at 5:30 on a Friday and the place was just starting to fill up. They had limited seating due to the covid pandemic and there were tables, high tops, the bar area plus a patio. It was chilly on our visit, but there was a group on the patio taking advantage of the cool weather with the tower heater. There only appeared to be 2 employees out front; the bartender & one server.....they both did their best to keep up with orders as the place became busier and busier. Location is now on Hwy 64 near Sapphire Valley in a mountain style strip center. This location has a large bar area and also table seating. The menu is sports bar with sliders, appetizers and such. We indulged on wine, pesto chicken flatbread, artichoke garlic bruschetta , buffalo chicken flatbread and fried okra. Very friendly and accommodating owner. He also owns Table 64 two doors down (has separate kitchen) which is more sophisticated dining. Ironically, we wanted quiet dining and the pub was our choice rather than Table 64. read more

Was very pleased with this find. You feel like you're out in the middle of nowhere and happen on a great tapas-style menu. I started with portabella caprese. Heirloom tomatoes and fresh mozzarella inside a portabella cap with basil and balsamic glaze. Followed with nice ribs dish then the molten lava cake. Nice array of wines and beers. The tapas menu here is da bomb! We ordered the grilled cheese roll ups and Mexican street corn (and some wine of course). The grilled cheese roll ups had 10/10 "mouth feel" aka just crispy enough on the outside with gooey cheese on the inside and dipped in the tomato soup was just perfect. The Mexican street corn was tasty and we were amazed at how much lime flavor was in this corn. So good! We will be returning for Tater Tot Nachos before the end of our trip. Mmmmm. read more

Only stumbled on this place because Mica's was closed for a private party. Didn't realize it was even here. The name is deceiving because "Lounge " and "good food" are usually mutually exclusive. But they serve tapas plates here (along with the beer and wine). And there many tempting selections on the menu. I tried the fried chicken sliders served on King's Hawaiian bread. It came with Cole slaw or fries. I had the slaw (called "badass" on the menu). For $8 it was well worth it. The tacos that other diners had looked pretty tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sophia had the chicken pesto flatbread. She usually doesn't finish her food, but tonight she ate it all. "Delicious", she claimed. The place has a nice comfy feel about it. They are only open in the evenings. We will be back! read more

This cozy little pub in the Sapphire Valley resort is a great place to unwind after a day of exploring the mountains of North Carolina. With good grub and a warm interior, it was the perfect spot for our family to recharge after a busy day on the ski slope. Their chicken wings, tacos and sliders were all terrific, as was their service and wine selection. My only gripe was their underwhelming selection of craft brews. With all the great breweries in western N.C., it would've been nice to have more than just one local brew (Wicked Weed's Pernicious) on tap. Still, Cork & Barrel mostly got the job done. read more

Worst meal I've had here in 2 months.the food was horribly dried out and not fresh. Went in with the girlfriend around 5:40 on a Saturday for a drink before dinner reservations across the street. First of all, this is hidden well in the Mountains of NC with scenic view and winding roads along the way. The drive here alone could be a fun day trip for anyone. The bar had about 4-5 guests while we were there and they were all clearly locals and regulars. The bartender knew everyone by name and was familiar with their wants and Needs. Although we only Stopped for a drink, everyone who ordered food had things that looked creative and smelled delicious. A really laid back and cool place to enjoy a few pints and some amazing tapas. We've been coming here for a few years during our bi-annual NC mountain trips. I've tried and would recommend the pork belly, Philly cheese steak egg rolls, and the wings with blueberry compote. Everything is fresh and tastes amazing. The staff is friendly but not over bearing but johnny on the spot when it's time to refresh your drink or bring more food. Overall this is one on the best places to go in the area. read more

Some friends took us for a late dinner as everything else in the area had closed. I was more than a little hesitant about eating at what is primarily a bar, but those fears were quickly laid to rest. On the recommendation of my friend I had the Kobe beef sliders with fries. MELT in your mouth wonderful! The fries were large spiral cuts that looked funky and tasted great. Our table had the Sunburst Trout Dip, and Fried Okra for appetizers and each was tasty, but the trout dip was a favorite hands down. We had the smoked trout dip, pork rinds and lacquered pork belly. Fabulous! I'm a fan of smoked mullet dip from our trips to Crystal River FL so was curious about the Smoked Trout. What a great concept! But execution is everything. We arrived around 6:30 on a Sunday. The place was full of couples who obviously lived in the area, which just added to the ambiance. Our waiter met us quickly and took our initial order. But then it got weird. He would not come back to our table, constantly ignoring us for new arrivals. No check-ins, updates, etc. Basically we had to tackle the bartender and tell her what we wanted to order. This went on for over 90 minutes. Finally we asked for our bill and the waiter apologized, saying they had to send a chef home. Really? You couldn't tell us this when it happen? Guess we caught them on a bad night. But why were we singled out for no service? Both of us were in the biz so we treat servers well. The owner needs to have a protocol for damage control. Hopefully this was an aberration. read more

There were a few people standing outside who stopped conversation to stare at us; we smiled at them and they turned away.
