If you are looking for a great place to enjoy beautiful weather in a huge open space, Lost Acres is the place to go! We visited on a Saturday and enjoyed the live music with a delicious wine. We were lucky enough to see the horses visit the farm next to the vineyard. There was also a local food truck but we came too late that to try them out. What we ordered: Riesling ($19.99) Antipasto plate ($16.00). Due to COVID, you must buy by bottle. The wine was fruity and fresh, and the description on the menu was spot on. The staff however wasn't too helpful about the menu. The plate came with a decent size to enjoy with 3-4 people. Parking can be tricky especially when you visit later in the day. If you are coming as a large group, I also recommend bringing your own chairs and tables. read more

Really incredible experience here! A group of friends and I stopped by here and was really surprised by how serene and peaceful the location was. I had never really been to Granby before so this was super cool. The woman behind the counter recommended an absolutely incredible bottle of wine that I'm still dreaming of to this day. It isn't easy to find a good winery in the North East but HERE IT IS! Fantastic ambiance with lots of outdoor seating, delicious charcuterie boards, large indoor seating area, and fantastic staff. Rachel gave us a thorough and informative tasting and helped us with recommendations. The wine is fantastic!! We found that the whites were really something special while the reds were a little more basic. Everything is reasonably priced and you even get to keep a glass with your wine tasting! 10/10 would recommend hanging out here with a couple bottles of wine and some good friends. read more

Like many vineyards I've been reviewing lately, I haven't been here in a few years, and I was shocked to see how much it's grown. I remember a medium sized tasting room in the middle of nowhere, today I found it to be popping! There was live music, people outdoors enjoying the wine and ambiance, and lots of people inside. It's very clean and well manicured, and there is even horse related art work tucked into the property (perhaps to compliment the living horses in the stables next door). Six bucks for 5 wines and a souvenir glass. Pretty sweet! We've been to a few vineyards, and this one had a bit of a different spin to their wine tasting. They had nine wines available today (4 whites, 3 reds, 2 fruit) and you could choose any five for your tasting. I had a Wedge White, a Riesling, a Rock Wall Red, an Old Orchard Apple, and a Salmon Brook Rose. I liked all of them but enjoyed the Wedge White (six grape varieties with a taste of citrus) and the Riesling (apple and pear) the best. Chocolates were served with the Rose ("sip, bite, sip"), which was a nice touch. Different kinds of cheese and fruit platters are sold if you want to have a bottle, a snack, and relax. The tasting room and lounge are gorgeous with all kinds of artwork on display and for sale. The Vineyard was full of activity today as they were gearing up for a big Farm to Table dinner tonight. The people at the Vineyard were very nice, the grounds are gorgeous ( I saw a few cool sculptures out there), the wines are enjoyable, and the whole afternoon was a pleasure. Really stellar vineyard. Lost Acres has some of the best white wine I've had in this fair state. I got to do a tasting with Kevin on a Friday evening. He was pretty chill and generous with his pours. I love the tree aesthetic throughout the vineyard, including their logo and cork-made tree above the shelves of wine. Sitting by the fire is such a cozy experience. You can even play chess or checkers on the coffee table. There are lots of spots to sit if you want to make it a more relaxing wine tasting experience. I would definitely go out of my way to visit again. read more

Nice little winery in Granby. Pretty location, you might even get to see some horses while you're walking in from the parking lot. On our last visit, we saw an extremely impressive cheese plate being delivered to another table. Next time! The only thing I might recommend is umbrellas or something for the patio. There is shade in the center but not on the sides of the patio, and it gets fairly hot out there in the late afternoon sun! read more

This place is great - It's truly hidden gem. Fantastic wine (we like the Wedge White and our friends the reds). What it's missing are crowds, loudness, and crazy high prices - I guess nobody is perfect:). The staff is great. Very attentive and hard working to keep the place looking good. In our recent visit, we also experienced their outstanding customer service. There is one other thing - art and events. They often have work of local artists on display - paintings, sculptures, glassware, jewelry, etc. This is a great way to support the artists and it's enjoyable to walk around to view all the artwork. We have also seen Yoga being done on the grounds and there are many events, including an upcoming comedy show. Hope this place never changes! read more

I had a small get together here for my mother's 60th birthday. Although it rained and we all got soaked, the cheese plate and anti pasto plates were absolutely delicious. Wine tasting at Lost Acres Winery is like visiting a secret winery in the woods. As you drive in the trees open up to this beautiful vineyard and horse farm. You walk into the winery and are greeted by a friendly face behind the wine bar. When you look around the room you feel like you are transported to a cottage in the woods. The fireplace in the tasting room is so inviting and the art on the walls is created by local artisans in the area. A great feel for a wine tasting. Wine tastings are $7 and include your choice of 5 wines & a complimentary tasting glass. You can choose from a wine glass with a stem or a stemless wine glass, which I thought was pretty neat. Not many wineries offer that! The tasting itself was great. Our tasting room representative was very informative and inviting. We purchased a bottle and took it outside on the deck that over looked the beautiful vineyard scenery. Needless to say it was wonderfully relaxing afternoon. My favorites wines from our tasting were the Old Orchard Apple which was like autumn in a glass! Delicious notes of apple, spice, and everything nice! The other standout was the Firehouse Red - spicy, peppery wine, with a hint of fruity flavor. We purchased a bottle of both to take home. read more

Love this vineyard, it's always busy and especially when they have a food truck on site. My new favorite is there a "blueberry wine" that has a different alcohol content than regular wine but it's made of almost 100% pressed and fermented blueberries. I literally stumbled upon this place while cutting between 189 and 179 in Granby while coming back from visiting my horse. Although I wasn't planning on an afternoon wine tasting, this place was busy enough on a Sunday afternoon that I figured I could slip in and check it out. This vineyard turns out to be a perfect mix of relaxed atmosphere with a beautiful backdrop. We ended up grabbing a bottle, ordering an antipasto plate, and kicking up our boots on the comfy wicker furniture on the deck. We were able to have such great conversations with fellow guests and owners that we ended up stayed for a few hours:). Some people brought their own picnic, others ordered plates of cheeses and antipasto. Guests milled about the lawns, visiting the grapes and nearby horses. I also liked that groups of all sorts were congregated there - college kids, first dates, family gatherings, quiet couples. So as long as they keep letting me in with my barn boots on, I might just become a regular :) read more

Last week, my girlfriend and I decided to stop by Lost Acres for a relaxing start to our weekend. Books in hand, we got there a little after lunch time. A little over a half hour away from Hartford, it's a scenic drive to North Granby. It's a small operation, and the tasting room is cozy. But overall, the space inside and out is charmingly New England. Between the 5 whites and 3 reds, we decided to try the Clemons Springs Dry. A white blend of locally-grown grapes, I enjoyed that it wasn't super dry or super sweet. I also like that you can bring your own picnic too, they offer cheese plates and antipasto plates as well if you don't feel like making anything. All Summer long and even into the Fall they also host events at the vineyard: live music, yoga classes, farmer's markets, art shows -- there is plenty going on. As with any CT Farm Winery, you can grab a passport here too if you want to participate in the wine trail. Continuing to work our way through the wineries on our 2013 CT Wine Trail passport - this was the first winery we stopped at during "Round 2". Lost Acres Vineyard is one of the newer Connecticut Vineyards and the property is gorgeous. From the well maintained and spacious lawn to the deck off the tasting room, there are ample places for people to relax with a picnic lunch (maybe by picking something up at Lost Acres Orchard down the road) and/or a glass of wine to enjoy the views of the vineyard. In addition to this being the first stop of the day, it was also the first CT winery where we were given the option of a stem-less wineglass, a great idea as we have had many "accidents" with stemmed wine glasses tipping over in the grass, as well as the option to "choose" our tasting options. Of the five wines I tasted (3 whites and 2 reds) the Wedge White was my favorite. My least favorite was the Merlot - unfiltered I think it takes a specific pallet to enjoy it. It was not my cup of tea. Pricing for bottle of wine were comparable to the other wineries we have visited thus far. As I am finding many of the wines produced in Connecticut are blends and this vineyard is no different. The only "straight" variety that is offered is their un-oaked Chardonnay - it was ok but for some reason it tasted a bit okay to me. The husband and wife who run the vineyard (and were are hosts for the tasting) were very pleasant and enthusiastic and gave us some other great factoids while we were there - such as the label is based on a local tree in Granby that is the sibling to the Charter Oak, they spent a year "perfecting" the soil before the first vines were planted, and all the wines they produce use grapes grown on the property. In addition they are also very Pro CT Agriculture and involved with the local community. On the day we were there, we were told that 10% of all sales that day were being donated to the Granby Land Trust. There are also plans later this summer to start a weekly wine and farm pairing, inviting a local farm to come and showcase their products while pairing it with one of Lost Acres wines. I've been to many vineyards in Connecticut, and Lost Acres is by far my favorite. All of their wines are great, but my favorites are the Wedge White, Clemons Springs, and Firehouse Red. Now that it's fall, I'm transitioning from Lost Acres' summery rose, convinced that there's nothing better for the cooler weather than their dry, crisp, tangy apple wine. Overall, this is one of my favorite CT vineyard. Beautiful location, fantastic cheese plates, cozy fireplace, and of course a series of good, solid wines. My company just had a function here, it's in north Granby rural area. Surprising nice places as I have no idea the wine yard is only 20 non gro my house. The places is beautiful, not quite the California wine country but quite nice for Connecticut thou. I only tried the dry white wine which is pretty good but a bit sweet for dry wine. The food were limited , there was no real meals, only appetizers such as mini pizza pieces, meat or Han on bagel chips & meatballs, which were quite tasty. It's a great place for function. We had about 75 people and the place hosted without problem. One big barn room plus a huge farmer's porch, easily house 100 people function. Not sure what type of grapes but there's lots of vines growing & the wines a made on site. The quality of wine can not compare to that of Sonoma valley, but none the less, it's good to support local business. read more

Tucked in the woods is a pretty winery that is good for a tasting, grabbing a bottle of yummy wine, or celebrating a birthday, bachelorette or graduation party. I didn't get to taste the wines because I was the designated driver, but my hubby said the wines were very good. I've had their wines in the past and we plan to visit again. read more

It's not cram-packed like most other vineyards so service is quick and you can have a conversation with your friends/family without having to shout or talk over someone. It got a little hot inside so we headed outside for a few on the deck. It was chilly but we realized it was a really nice place to hang out and drink. Suggestions they do allow you to bring snacks or charcuterie boards so we wish we knew that before hand. We will definitely be coming back here again. Dear Lost Acres: what a wonderful surprise you turned out to be. Husband and wife team run the place. Husband is the wine maker. Though not classically trained in wine-making, the husband appears to have a natural knack for wine making. Could he be the Grape Whisperer? Tastings are reasonably priced at $6 for five to six wines. $7 for a glass. Bottles range from $14-$19. We tasted three whites (two of which are estate), an apple, a rose and two reds. A surprise was an unfiltered merlot. Tastes like what you would taste at a barrel tasting. Overall, for a first full year opening, their line up was solid. A welcome surprise, indeed. The tasting room is just right, not too big and not too small. The friendly wife told us that they had done many years planning before the finally opened to the public, and I think it shows in their first year's showing. The wine maker joked that he's every husband's best kept secret. He can help plan a wife's surprise birthday party because he has a DJ and caterer ready for events. As he said: "a one stop shop". He also mentioned that they have three weddings booked for this year, too. Attached to the back of the tasting room is a lovely deck. Rather large with good shade. We sat outside in a lovely mixture of wicker and iron chairs, overlooking the hill with the vines growing, sharing a bottle of Wedge White. A friend recommended that I stop here, and I'm so glad she did! We stopped in on a Friday afternoon and there were a few people out enjoying their wine on the porch. We chose to do the wine tasting at $6/pp. The $6 tasting fee includes your choice of any 5 wines on their list of 8, and you get to keep the glass. White grapes are grown at the vineyard, and the red grapes are brought in from California to make the wine. The apples for the Apple Wine are grown about a half mile up the road at Lost Acres Orchard. They do have a cheese plate or an antipasto to go with your wine, but that's about it for the menu. I was wishing they had a few more appetizer or lunch offerings, as I enjoy food with my wine. A tip for new visitors (or my next visit), stop at the Orchard up the road first and pick up some food (a sandwich or homemade quiche) to bring down to the vineyard. Came here as part of a friend's bachelorette. Despite living in CT for many years, this is only the third vineyard I have visited. I sampled five wines on the tasting list. For the whites, I enjoyed the Riesling and for the reds I liked the merlot. We had fun taking pictures outside. However, it started raining so we weren't able to enjoy the grounds as much as I would have liked to. I'm moving to the Bay area soon and look forward to visiting Napa and Sonoma. I am glad I could check out one more CT vineyard before moving. read more

We love this vineyard. It is especially peaceful and relaxing in the fall. It's a fantastic place to unwind outside on the hillside and admire the scenery (the foliage!) ... There are so many good things about this place. Not only are most of the wines exceptional in quality, they are reasonably priced. Also, the tastings are DONE RIGHT. First and foremost, they let you CHOOSE whichever of the wines YOU want to try! That's right - they give you the list and you can choose whichever five your heart desires. Or, if you're with a special friend, you can try them all by just sharing your glass. You get to try a few extra varieties this way and a bit more wine per sample - it's a great deal! Just make sure you bring your patience! They do get very busy and often have a wait list going. Just relax on the couches, check out the art vendors, etc. It's only a few minutes anyway, but since it feels so very charming it will blow right by. read more
