Small Meadery attached to a beer garden/pizza stand that you can take to drink with your food. Mead is strong so I prefer you get the 2 ounce tasters so you can try multiple. I got a blueberry, strawberry and a tropical mead to try. All of them were very good, not too dry.

I had no idea what a meter was, but I'm so glad we tried. This is a neat little establishment with a very cozy tasting room. We tried the flight which is an array of taste and flavors. This is tucked into a really neat place with another brewery next to it and options for food like pizza and outdoor seating as well. Just a really neat place to try. We're locals, but I hadn't found this until recently and it's just such a cool place to hang out.

This is one of my favorite meaderies, sweet, balanced and bursting with different notes and they always have new meads in rotation. The mead selection is diverse, from traditional to innovative flavors that are high quality. Located in The Garten, they share space with a brewery, a winery, and a pizza place. When I stop by, I usually order their curated mead flight that I share with my hubby because some of their meads are very strong. We have tried almost all their meads here, it's hard to choose a favorite. The staff was pleasant and very knowledgeable. Parking here is limited, but with stopping in.

Cooool spot inside the Garten. More on the chill side of things if you're tired of the craziness of the outside. Cool decor and nice employees. Loved their sampler of meads- that way you dont have to commit to one flavor. This was great as a first time because we didn't know what we'd like. Mead always get compared to wine, but in my opinion, it's nothing like it. It's a lot thicker first of all and some of these meads are up to 15% in alcohol volume. I know there are sweet wines, but nothing compared to a mead which is basically honey based. With that said, we looved the, I want to say, 80% of the mead samples we got. The menu rotates so this menu for the flight may differ from the one they're currently offering. Our flight came with: Prickly Paloma, Disco Nap, OB Sesh, Malum, Wolf V & Banshee Part II. The sampler comes with pretty good pours too. Would come back to try different meads now that we know what it is!

Staff is awesome! So friendly! Drinks are delicious! We had our pizza delivered to the meadery which was really convenient.

Great Mead! Located in a low key spot in Linda Vista is Lost Cause Meadery. This place is within a community restaurant setup with other food/beer joints in the same communal spot. Lost Cause is located in the far right (with signs pointing to where its at) almost situated like a speakeasy. The interior is fairly large with numerous kegs of (mead?) within. I've never seen the tasting room get too busy with a line so getting serviced by one of the bartenders is never too difficult. They have quite a few options to choose from in terms of mead with varying flavor profiles/price. You can do a flight of mead to try some of their array, or you can do a free "splash" of usual one of two of the meads before you have to go for a 2oz pour. Those 2oz pours go for $5-6 each which honestly is a bit of a scam for how little you get, regardless of how expensive mead could be. The meads will vary a lot from flavor to flavor so I definitely recommend trying ones you feel are the most interesting, I picked up a growler size ($5 for their growlers which you can use to get more in the future, plus whatever the price of the mead) of Pie Felicia which is a more sweet berry blend of their mead. I usually recommend picking up one you like in whatever size you prefer as they seem to change out flavors fairly often so the one you enjoy may no longer be on tap. I don't think you'll find too many mead places in San Diego, let alone one that tastes as good as this place. While the prices can surely jerk a tear or two from you, I believe it's worth it if you find a mead you enjoy to share with yourself, or others (mostly yourself).

For those who aren't familiar or have even considered mead as an alternative to your traditional beverage stops, Lost Cause has to be an exception or first time addition to your list. It's a nice change of pace from the bubbly booze that is seltzer, kombucha, and beer hidden away in a very cool little plaza in an industrial location. I've been here a few times for a short time at the meadery but one can easily spend an entire afternoon here. A bit crowded and lacking in seating but the service is always friendly and more than happy to help you learn about what's good on the menu! I tried the Party Favor cocktail and it was pleasantly better than I'd expect!

Staff is friendly, the drinks were so good, and the value was amazing! We were originally sitting in the Garten, which was bustling with music and energy, but wanted to sit away from the noise after having some pizza from Pizza Cassette. So we went inside Lost Cause and sat in their patio seating tucked away on the side of the business. The music the business was playing was low enough to carry on a conversation and filled with my favorite 90s and 2000s jams. Loved visiting this place and will definitely be back!

Anyone want to grab drinks at the Gärten? A place to grab beer, wine, mead, and pizza while listening to live music. Pizza kind of hits the spot but only if you like thin crust. But I'll go for the drinks and vibes. I tried lost cause meadery with a friend. Of course I had to try the mead flight since it's my first time trying mead. Honestly half of it was a bit too syrup like for my taste, but I got a mead with yuzu in it was the best sweet light and citrus to have on a hot day. I even bought a bottle to take home

Great spot! Ashley and Ashley were wonderful! Very chill vibes and great music selection to add to the great drinks.

My first exposure to Lost Cause was through a bottle of their mead at a friend's house, and it was so delicious. I was excited to find out that it was brewed locally and that they had a tasting room right here in SD. Last weekend I finally got a chance to check the meadery out, and it was great! They've got a large outdoor area shared with Cassette Pizza and Oddish Wine. Which means you can get good food and more drinks to go with your drinks. There's also a smaller patio out back for just Lost Cause. And the whole place is dog friendly. The mead itself was super delicious. I think of mead as being sweet and honey flavored, and the Oregon variety is that. But they also had varieties with all kinds of fruit and berry and herb flavors. Ranging from meh to amazing, but definitely plenty of options for people who aren't interested in a classic mead flavor. I also love that they have tasters and flights so you can try more. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is the opaque pricing. They list a range of prices for tasters and glasses, but don't show how much each variety costs. Which means you don't find out what you're paying until they ring up your total. Not cool. Please don't make the prices a mystery!

My friends and I came here for my birthday, and we ordered three flights to share, with our favorite being the "Pie Fellicia." We ended up buying two bottles to go and shared them with my family back in Vegas. I will definitely be back!

This time around, it was just the 3 of us, to chat over some wine and apps. Had their April featured Pinot, which was amazing (had 2 glasses). It's good to keep in mind that they only sell their flatbreads on certain days and unfortunately, they didn't serve it when we went. So, instead we had the crostinis, which is perfect if you want a little bit of everything, but not sure what to get. My friend got the chicken Caesar wrap, and it was a lot bigger than expected. As far as the ambience, there's seating all around the bar that's located in the middle. So it's convenient to just walk up to the bar to place your order. Servers and bartenders were friendly and quick. Overall this is a great laid-back place for small or large groups.

First, I still really enjoy the Carruth Wine Garden. It is nice to have an outdoor space to drink wine right in the center of the city. In general there plenty of parking ,and it is dog friendly. As far as the wine, it is very good. I like some more than others. More recently, I have enjoyed the Unicorn Red Blend ( a longtime favorite) and the Syrah. I love that it is dog friendly, inside and out. My dog loves going there and she makes friends each time. A change that they made recently is that the main garden area is now child-free, which was a positive change in my options, as it had gotten a bit chaotic in the past with children not being very well supervised. The still have a family-friendly outdoor space. In the past, there was always live music when I came. I was there most recently on a Saturday evening and was disappointed that there was no music. Also, the prices have gone up ($18 per glass). Unfortunately, I found the pours to be somewhat inadequate, though it depended which staff member was pouring the wine. They do not allow for outside food, and only make certain dishes certain days of the week, which unfortunately doesn't allow for many options if you are hungry. Water is readily available inside and outside. All in all, it is a lovely place with good wine to come with friends and your 4-legged friends. It has gotten a bit pricey, and I do wish we could bring out own snacks, but I still enjoy going and am sure that I will be back.
