Church! Yes! This place is awesome. We had a great time just walking around and taking in all the decorations and attention to detail. We especially loved that the wall tapestries were actually their beer labels -- such a fun way to lean into the religious theme. The historic building adds a lot of charm, complete with church pews where you can sit, sip a beer, and look toward their "altar." There's also a nice outdoor seating area that's perfect for enjoying good weather with a drink. They offer food options outside, though we didn't try any. The beers were crisp and fresh, and we especially enjoyed the IPA. Overall, we really liked this spot, but with so many breweries in town, we're not sure we'd make a special trip back. read more

Came here for the first time before Padres game after being told to check it out. The main inside area is of a church. It has a lot of nice little details and touches to it. I ultimately tried their double IPA. The cost for the beers were pretty nice, especially with its location close to the park and other activities. There is an area to order food that typically has American style food, such as burgers, hotdog, nachos, and more. Think I found a new favorite church in SD! Came to buy gifts for my brother in law who is a beer enthusiast. He knew which beer to look for and I asked the bartender for certain sours, Belgians, and other selections. Ended up doing a taste test and walked out buying 5+ bottles to bring back home. The ambiance is chill, set up like an old style Belgian Abbey, and not crowded. Pet friendly too! Definitely will be back. Glad they opened more spots throughout the county. read more

The indoors offers such a beeeauutiful church vibe, down to the old creaky pews you can sit at. The people who come in and sit around are so friendly and will strike up a convo with anyone that comes through. I'm the craft beer snob in the family so what I say goes and this place offers unique taps to give a go BUT they also offer even MORE types to try in cans. We've brought a few home in the past and my partner enjoys them. I had been familiar with The Lost Abbey for many years as I'm a beer geek, but I hadn't had a chance to visit any of the taprooms until this past November. My wife and I came here for some drinks before dinner and it was a decent stop overall. The venue itself is very nice as it's an old deconsecrated church and it fits well with the brand of the beer. Service was good and we had a flight of 4 beers, all of which were decent. The downside is that their bottles of beer to go are way too expensive and you can get beer that is just as good for half the price at other breweries. It's a nice place overall, but ended up not being our favorite brewery stop in San Diego. read more

Amusing that The Lost Abbey was on one of my "lost" breweries where the information about the brewery and beer experience was deemed lost by me due to a destroyed phone. Thankfully while sorting through my brewery notes many of the "lost" breweries were found and details of my experiences with them. It's amusing because of the word "lost" being so frequent during this chapter of my brewery adventures. For The Lost Abbey we had a sour beer known as the Red Poppy Ale, a Red Flanders style beer. This was a fun beer and Abbey beers are always a treat and usually are very unique. Flavor features with this sour, tartness, sweetness (not too much though) and cherry. A very good beer and one well worth seeking out from this brewery! read more

Cute place! My husband and I walked over here and each had a delicious beer. The bartender was incredibly friendly and helpful with suggestions. I love the old church and the beer names- I had the "Jesus Mary and Joseph". We would've loved to have more drinks, but we were starting to feel pretty dehydrated from our flight and all the walking and lack of water. I must say, the local pups sure love this place, too! All the ones that came in with their owners popped their front paws on the counter to ask for their dog treat- so cute! read more

Old abandoned church that has been remodeled and spruced up into microbrewery tasting room? Yes please, and let's all thank the Lawd! Upon entry you're welcomed by Geezus and the Lawd. The interior's religious motifs, architecture, repurposed pews, and tapestries all sync up perfectly to reflect the old church. The customer service could stand to improve dramatically. The beer was fine. The aesthetic was interesting and seemed to be inviting until you get inside. Three people behind the bar and it took at least five minutes for someone to come over and just say hello. There were four people total in the entire establishment. Boo do better. read more

Love the ambiance here - the taproom is inside a church building that was saved from becoming condos like just about everywhere around it. Plenty of their Belgian beers on tap to choose from. I loved their Lost and Found dubbel and they also had a spiced pumpkin ale, Avante Gourwhen we went that was delicious. Bartenders were very friendly. You can sit inside and watch the game or sit outside on the deck or the connected decomposed granite space with tables and umbrellas for a sunny day in front of the Doggo Gus food container. Order their delicious hot dogs and sides from any seat with the QR codes and walk over to the window for pickup. This place in the East Village was walking distance from our hotel at the Gaslamp Quarter. Can't wait to go back and try more beer. Came here with a friend after the Padres game to grab a drink. We were downtown a few days before and wanted to check out this place, but didn't get the chance. I'm glad we came back because it was really awesome to see this old church transformed into a brewery. We got a flight to share and I got the Kharisma Verde which was a hard green tea with mango. My friend (who actually likes beer) got stouts for the rest of our flight. Overall the drinks at The Lost Abbey were decent, I'm not a huge beer drinker so I did enjoy my drink. I even had a couple sips of the stouts. I think this is a neat concept with great seating inside and outside and definitely worth a drop in if you're in the area. read more

I love this addition to the neighborhood! They are still finishing up construction on what will be an awesome patio. The outdoor space already includes a deck with some seating and there is more seating inside. They are calling this location "The Church by The Lost Abbey" which seems fitting since the building used to be a Presbyterian church in the early 1900s. They have a great selection of their beers on tap and currently one offering for non-beer drinkers but I imagine they all will rotate. I'm looking forward to having another nice casual spot with a ton of outdoor seating in the neighborhood. read more
