Unprofessional and egocentric, that's the only way I would describe the owner of this tattoo shop (Guido). I was just there to accompany friends that wanted to get some ink. They had done some research, called the shop and were asked to stop by as they didn't do reservations over the phone. So in we went and immediately I could sense the cockiness on Guido. Again, since it wasn't me getting the tattoo, I sat down and kept that first impression to myself, allowing my friends to discuss the tattoos. All I could here was him saying how busy he was, and arguing on the design they had in mind, basically saying how he knows better than the customer. Sure, you have experience but the customer is paying and ultimately is the one wearing the tattoo permanently so how about you let them express themselves without cutting them off. By this time my annoyance was escalating and I just wanted to get out of there. Finally, as if doing my friends a favor, he agreed to an appointment that Sunday at 3pm. 3pm, sharp, we were there. There were people on the chairs, getting work done, and another one waiting. Hmmm, I thought they had agreed on a time a date but guess that didn't matter to them. They just asked us to come back in about 45 minutes because, and I quote "we got some walk-ins". How unprofessional to ignore an appointment, of not one but two people and act like is not a big deal. Trying to stay positive, my friends asked if they could at least see the sketches while they waited, the answer "no, I'm busy, come back later". If it wasn't for the $60 cash deposit they had to put down to "secure" the appointment, I think (and hope) my friends would have walked away and not gone back, but we killed some time and came back as we had been told. And guess what... there was someone new at the chair. Seriously?!!? Then said it would be another 15 - 20 minutes. When we said we were done and the tattoos will not happen, Guido just shrugged and said "oh, so I can work on these walk-ins then". No eye contact, no apology, no care at all. Horrible way to run a business! And they kept the $60... Shameful! read more

I drove 3 hours from where I live because I wanted to get a cover-up on a tattoo. I talked to Pablo and he is a very positive and patient tattoo artist that had a creative idea on how to cover-up my old tattoo. I saw what Pablo wanted to put on my cover up and it looks beautiful. If I could give these guys 6 stars, I would gladly. This review is the one I've been waiting to write from my adventures in Santa Fe. My Mom and I took a Mother/Daughter trip for her birthday recently and wanted to commemorate the trip and her 70 years on the planet. I had a tattoo done quite recently that I wanted to cover so I began my research of artists long before our scheduled trip. Yelp reviews and photos of Owen and Guido's work on their Instagram account eventually got me to a solid decision. Mom and I visited the shop on the day we got into town to be sure we could get an appointment with them before the week was over. We found the gem of a shop, perfectly understated and just off the beaten path. The space is very cool, comfortable and has a great vibe (vibe being very important in Santa Fe). We were greeted by Owen and I was really glad to see that he was there. We booked our appointments back to back with him. We had the option of going with a visiting artist - but since we wanted matching/similar designs - Owen carved out two spots for us so he could do them both. This proved to be such an awesome thing - as I truly believe we would not be nearly as thrilled if they were done by different hands. My Mom being a tattoo virgin at 70, was extremely nervous. Owen put her right at ease and gently reminded her to breathe . His confidence, ability and overall presence was so palpable. I would have trusted him putting just about anything on me - but wanted to keep it low-profile, Mom status. The work he did on my cover-up was totally flawless and absolutely more amazing than I had anticipated. He covered it seamlessly and spent great time working on detail and using white/black to blend it all. I had expected a really opaque piece on my arm due to covering something else - but he nailed it. My Mom is equally pleased with the trio of feathers he put on her back, they look gorgeous and absolutely appropriate for a seasoned, yet spunky woman like herself. I cannot recommend Lost Tattoo and Owen Lostetter enough. I will be back for sure. xo read more

I always get tattooed when I travel. After looking at a few shops and talking to a few of the artists in town, I went with Lost Cowboy. Owen ended up doing my tattoo, while Guido freehanded a skull on my girlfriends arm. Both artists were superb, accommodating and incredibly talented. I told Owen I wanted a cactus with a moon and a skull; he was patient with me as I asked him to change two minor things on his drawing and was very professional. I appreciate artists who are calm and willing to redraw things, as I know it's not ideal to be given a vague description and then have to tweak things. After a difficult year for personal reasons, I knew I wanted a (2nd) tattoo. While flying from LAX to ALB, I noticed a young couple with beautiful tattoo art. Owen told me he had a shop in Santa Fe which was my destination for a few days. What luck! The Lost Cowboy Tattoo & Gallery was the perfect capper to my SF getaway. Owners Owen & Guido even knew the artist who gave me my first tattoo 20+ years ago so maybe it was a little more than luck. Guido gave me a graceful spiral design tat on my forearm. I've been drawn to this design for years. I love it! We spent practically the entire hour talking about HBO's The Young Pope. Great! The shop is clean & in a great downtown location. Pricing is competitive. Parking is challenging so not knowing how long I'd be there as a walk-in, I opted for a $5 parking lot on Grant & Johnson Streets. Their service was extremely unprofessional. I contacted the owners in advanced since I live out of town. My dad and I went out of our way to schedule an appointment with the two main artists and let them pick the time. When we showed up for our appointment they had taken two walk-ins ahead of us and sent us away, they wouldn't even show us our designs. We came back an hour later and they were talking to more walk-ins. Considering we were required to give them a $60 down payment for an appointment we were really frustrated. They told us, for the second time, to wait another hour so we decided we did not want to be tattooed by such unfriendly people. This was an incredibly frustrating experience and I have never received such poor service especially since we made an appointment. We ended up losing $60 and wasted a good portion of our day waiting around for tattoos we did not get. read more

Pablo didn't write down the correct date or time. I drove to Santa Fe excited for ink and was asked to come back tomorrow. seeing as how I have a job and told him I couldn't on Saturday in the email, I asked if I could get my deposit back. pablo said I was technically canceling my appointment! Everyone I've met in Lost Cowboy has been great. All the visiting artists that have dropped in, Guido, Bud, Pablo, and especially Owen have been true professionals. The entire vibe is unlike any other shop I've gotten work in; they are true artists. Owen completed my entire lower left leg sleeve with his take on American traditional. It was a phenomenal experience getting to design pieces with him and have him put his touches on individual artwork. The entire leg is cohesive with each element bring portfolio-quality work. I had no issues driving up from Albuquerque for the opportunity to have one of Lost Cowboy's amazing artists work on me. If you have good taste for great quality, Owen is what you've been looking for. Atmosphere you have to search for, table side manner with the patience of a monk, creativity far beyond flash recreations, and unmatched application of tattoos are all hallmarks of Lost Cowboy, especially Owen.
