Last minute lake day with the family. I haven't been to lost lake in years it was well spent! We found a nice spot away from the crowd because it does get pretty packed and we prefer to be secluded. A lot of people come here to fish and camp too. The water is always cold, it's too cold for my liking but if you go at the highest peak of summer especially here in Fresno it reaches the triple digits. I think that would be the best time to come! My son did not like the water it took him awhile to adjust. Entrance fee is $5 for those who don't know! Restrooms available and there's also a playground for the kids which I thought was really cool! Please I advise to be careful swimming. Those currents are pretty strong. Lost lake gives me so much childhood memories!!!! We used to come here all the time as kids in the summer from afternoon till it got dark. I miss those days. But now we get to make new memories with our little ones! I'm glad the water wasn't as high as other years. There was one year it was flooded! Like the area with the rocks and trees where it's more shallow, the water was high af like up to the benches where u eat. I used to love exploring that area and walking through the water and trees and finding spots we called a "jacuzzi" cus it was a hole with rocks around it with the water flowing. The water is freezing cold like ice bucket challenge cold!! It takes some getting used to but it's easier to get in when it's hot af out!!! Over 100 degrees weather is the perfect weather to get into this kind of water. There's plenty of benches and you can bbq there. Theres even a walking trail. Used to come there with my half sister and her man to go fishing when we were kids. I just love it, it's so nostalgic! read more

Overall great place, we love just coming to fish and enjoy the peace (we always stay more down by the camping side). The water is always cold and refreshing! This was the first time we ever had a family come and actually invade our space; it was absolutely horrible, they were rude, literally walked around our sun shade, slightly pushed our floaty out of the way and just sat down. I told them to please watch out for our fishing gear and the mother responded with "yeah." When my husband came back down the river he was shocked but we were outnumbered (they had a father, mother, two teenage boys, one teenage girl and two children) so keeping our comments was the smarter option. This is the first time that has ever happened and hopefully it won't happen again. Just be aware but overall I absolutely recommend this place! read more

It's a good place to spend time with friends/family. $5 for entrance fee and the place was loaded with people. This place definitely needs more attention and fixation. The City should invest a bit of their money to make some arrangements, parking, bathrooms, shades, easy access to water. The river/lake was very very cold on the Sunday afternoon in 116F. If it's a hot day, I recommend be there by no later than 9-10 am to get the best spot for yourself. read more

It's not as beautiful as Woodward imho but it was a solid choice for a church outing and a taste of nature. They've got an area with covered seating and we cooked up some delicious Huevos rancheros together and had a good time. We saw a ranger roaming around so it seems the grounds are cared for. So fun! This place is a hidden gem. Lots of little "nooks" to set up camp for the day. It is VERY crowded (at least on Saturday when we went), but if you go on the "trail," it's nice. I'd say my only complaints are (1) For a $5 parking fee, they're not maintaining the area. The trash is overflowing and the bathrooms are just gross (2) The trail isn't super clearly marked...or at least the one that we found. Other than that, it's a beautiful place! read more

I didn't even know this park existed and I have lived here pretty much most of my life. It was really easy to find, lots of parking spots in different areas, we came here early in the morning, so it was pretty empty and nice for us to take family pictures. There were many trails we could have taken, we did take one and it was clean and clear, there was some graffiti on some of the huge rocks, but nothing to bad, I guess it is known as a party place for teens, which I didn't know that also, but can see why. The river/lake is really pretty too. We came here during the fall, but it would be nice to see in the spring time the greenery and flowers and such. I would totally come back here to venture more, it was a great little getaway for our photo session. read more

When you dont have much to do in city, This is good place to escape out, This park has $5 entry fee but if you admire nature, It's worth the drive and entrance fee, Once at backside, you can find enough sitting spots near San Joaquin river, The river bed is very quiet throughout the park except at the end where it uproars near the end. You can also do BBQ as they have 4 working pits but washroom is in a terrible situation, forget about the soap, they dont even have running water. Pretty cool little getaway to walk around. We saw people bbqing and swimming. We took our dog on the nature trail and had fun. We found a secluded spot along the water and just listened to nature. Nice place to hang out, fish and so on. It was very clean. Very little trash. No broken glass. Guy that checked us in was super friendly. It was only 5 bucks. I didn't see the inside of the restrooms. Idk if they are okay or gross. There was a lot of graffiti on the trees, rocks and picnic benches because some people are idiots. It looks like there is some kind of program in place and they have people doing community service by picking up garbage or something. Looks like they have nice campgrounds. read more

We went upto the mountains hoping to find a day use area that was open. Couldn't really find anything due to Covid so we decided to check out Lost Lake. It is very sad because it really could be a very beautiful place and had a beautiful river running by. There are lots of nice picnic tables too. But there was trash EVERYWHERE!!! All the trash cans were overflowing and trash was blowing all over. We picked up an entire bag full of beer bottles. There was only one bathroom open and it was filthy. I feel like the park would be better if they got rid of the small trash cans and just had dumpsters. The one dumpster they had was overflowing too. It could be a nice place if they just cleaned it up a little or if people would pick up after themselves. read more

This park is really beautiful. There's a campground at the end of the road that doesn't have hookups but looks like a great place to rest near the city. I've spent time here on a very hot day enjoying the shade and water, fall time is gorgeous and planning to hike nature trail soon. Highly recommend! read more

Best time to go is during the week there is Hardly anyone there it's like having a whole lake to yourself just the way I like it there's a nature trail and lizards in the restroom which was neat for the kids we took a net from the dollar store and caught fish and released them my kids aren't patient enough to use fishing poles lol $5 to get in and a get back drop for pictures read more

You would think me biased about Lost Lake Park since I live just a couple miles away. I say it gives me a better outlook to the park. Recently, I have been unimpressed with the park as it can be pretty messy. Bathroom maintenance certainly can be improved upon. There is no lack of shade at least on those summer days. In the winter, the place is not so busy except for the occasional fisherman. If I have anything positive to say about the park...it IS a relaxing place to be, and during the summer, can be a nice way to break the heat. Be careful of the river...it's ICE cold and on occasion, the current can be strong. I tend to enjoy walking to the park rather than walking through it. On a side-note: The park shouldn't have to pick up lazy people's junk. Please pick up after yourselves to help keep the park clean for future guests. Walking over to put things in the trash is not asking a lot. read more

The 100+ acre low maintenance park is in four populated parts, each a separate experience. 1) The large shady green grassy lawn and picnic area next to the river. 2) The two open mostly unshaded lost lake (deep pond) areas. 3) The less shady quasi-lawn and camping area sorta next to the river on the east end of the park. 4) The wilderness trail and river area at the west end in three parts: A) a short trail loop with signs pointing at nature stuff, etc. B) the start of a miles-long river trail. C) a metal covered group BBQ area on an ungroomed hill. There are also unpopulated areas, including wild river bottom oakland and field, and dense, brushy wild riverside reminiscent of the pre-dam days. I love it, but only go in very early spring to avoid maxheat, any crowds, and hopefully fees. ...when perhaps it's still too chilly in the mountains. I agree, if you want a tuttie-fruity or spiffy mall-like experience, please go to Yosemite or back to Fresno where you will hopefully be out of my way...and don't let me catch you free-lunch whining about taxes & big govt! read more

My wife and I were out for a drive through the mountains and we stopped in to use the restrooms here and the park is beautiful. Lots of parking and nice views. The restrooms were clean and the park attendants were very polite and friendly. Lots of birds and small wildlife scurrying around. Picnic tables and BBQ areas were close by and conveniently located. read more

What a beautiful river with trees growing alongside it! It was gorgeous at sunset with the golden light and moving water. There are lots of picnic tables scattered throughout. On a weeknight there was just the right amount of other guests - not crowded but not deserted. Unfortunately there is some litter around the park - that's more on other visitors than the park itself. There are grills available to cook out, and several bathrooms (although I didn't personally use either of those things.) Its so close to Fresno, but a quiet beautiful place in nature. read more

I love going to this place , it's only 14 min from my house and feels like we are outside Fresno. My son loves getting in the shallow area of water and sitting on big rocks. It's so peaceful, calm and serene. We like eating lunch at the picnic table by the water. Entrance fee $5 is well worth it. I'd rather come here and pay $5 than going to Woodward Park and pay the same fee. Plenty of parking areas, it's never too crowded even on the weekends. read more

This review is specifically for the newly revamped Lost Lake Campground adjacent to the day use park itself. Fresno County has done a terrific job morphing a formerly rundown campground into a really nice County Park which reopened late 2017. The interior roadways are all paved as are the campsites. Many of the sites can handle RVs up to 36-feet long. There is no electricity at the sites nor is there electricity in the bathrooms which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. Portable generators are allowed at certain times of the day. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean but have no showers.The trees are beautiful and could provide nice shade during the hotter times of the year. Each site has a large picnic table and a fire ring. There is a permanent camp host to collect the overnight fees, answer questions and provide an additional level of security. There are 42 sites, a few of which have a view of the river. Even without the river view the setting is so peaceful. There is a dump station available at a competitive price. Think it is $20 but well worth it. The price for a site is $25 per night with significant discounts for disabled veterans and senior citizens. It is important to note that this campground, while contiguous to the day use part of the park, is off limits to day use folks. This is a very nice Fresno County campground read more

I love this campground. The water is fresh, and ice cold! It cost 5 bucks to get in. If you love nature this is a good place to go. they have picnic tables, We actually had my grandsons bday party here we set up a canopy right by the river and rented some tubes and there is this area of the river that flows into the wading area. not the nicest of parks but it has its perks. they stock the fish reguarly here. although they arnt huge it makes for a fun day. its nice to launch a kayak from here. good place to go have a bbq and relax with the family. its nice because the stuck up people dont really come out there so the vibe is always fun and friendly!! read more
