Anyway, it was a glorious day after 3 days of good soaking rain, which we badly needed in the hill country. The food has always been top notch grade here. The service is very efficient and professional. As for the ambience, the inside is bright and well lighted but to be impressed, you have to go outside. Since it was a glorious day of bright sunshine, coolish temperature and a very friendly breeze blowing, we had a time walking around the area. The surrounding area was lush and very green after the few days of rain! We had a lovely time taking pictures. My brother in law was very surprised about the camel story behind Camp Verde. Camels were used as experimental animals to carry provisions in the 1850's. They were stationed in this area. Unfortunately, the experiment failed because the soldiers hated the camels, who had a reportedly nasty disposition and soldiers ended up with motion sickness because of the animal's unusual walking gait. If you want to visit the area, now is a good time before the summer heat gets here. FYI, if you like Christmas, the gift shop here gets an early start in October! If you like Christmas decorations like my wife, come here and shop. They really fill up the gift shop with goodies!

I did stop by the general store and enjoy the many trinkets and original finds. They even have a working post office. They used to do business with the Ft that trined camels in the 1800's for the Army. Great subject to explore for history buffs. The staff was very friendly and helpful and gave me a history lesson on the store and post office. You will not be disappointed by stopping by. Old history vibes.

It carries local canned/jarred products from around central TX. The last time I came here, I got some venison jerky. Venison is usually gamey, but when you sink your teeth into this, you'll be itching to get your hands on another bag. You get ten strips plus in a single bag, all treated with sea salt and pepper to retain the natural meat flavor. These strips come from purely grass-fed venison, giving a richer and more tender texture while keeping it as organic as possible. In the realm of beef jerky, the offering here packs tons of spice but also has that savory edge of smoked salt & pepper and that little something that sits on your tongue after the bite has passed. This jerky here is fresh and has ZERO MSGs, no preservatives, nothing but properly cured and crafted American beef jerky. The service here is everything that Central TX is all about, small town charm! Aside from the establishments convenient location and service, the prices are extremely reasonable. #supportlocal

I got a couple different kinds of jerky including honey, teriyaki, hot beef, and peppered jerky. They were all really good but the honey was the best. I was eyeing the pickles and Tom, the cashier said the peppered pickle sticks were the best so I decided to try them. They are pretty dang spicy but they pack a lot of flavor. I am a big pickle fan and I would get these again.

You find it because you are meant to. Country Mart is as simple as it gets, and that is exactly where its charm lives. I was hungry off the road and ordered a chicken quesadilla, plain chicken with bacon and jalapeños. No frills, no funny business. Just trust. The lady with me went straight for the local Tuesday special, steak fingers. I did not get one myself, and I regret that. They came out looking fresh, homemade, and exactly how steak fingers should look. Golden, honest, and made by someone who knows what they are doing. Now, the quesadilla. Crispy, packed, and clearly made with intent. This was not some lazy throw-together. This thing had heart. It had purpose. It had soul. Every bite delivered exactly what you want when you order a quesadilla in a place like this. And the sweet tea. Mate, the sweet tea. Cold, strong, and perfect. The kind of tea that reminds you where you are and why you stopped. All in all, this was a very pleasant and completely unexpected turn. Country Mart is the kind of place you remember, the kind of place you come back to, and the kind of place that deserves all the attention it can get. I'll be back.

I really had no idea what to expect but it turned into a small piece of Texas locked in time to a wonderful rustic place the oozed hill country and rustic charm. Beers were $6 a piece which was a bit of a drag but everything else was pretty in line with what you would expect. When I went their were two food trucks and Luckenbach's own kitchen where you could purchase food to eat. We tried Luckenbach's kitchen and the food was awesome. I had an excellent hamburger called "the tex" and my wife had a jalapeno cheese sausage taco. We both shared some loaded fries. Our food was ridiculously good. All day they had pretty decent live music. The lone child we had with us enjoyed the outdoor games available. There was literally something for everyone and I would highly recommend checking this off your bucket list.
