No cell service so my husband started hiking up toward North San Juan. Several very kind locals stopped to check on me and then a Highway Patrol unit stopped a couple of minutes later (he had seen my husband). Could not locate our AAA cards but he asked his dispatcher to contact them for us and they indicated a 45 minute wait. Pleasant surprise - more like 15 minutes. The Sierra Transportation truck (AAA) pulled up and Bill then started loading. Our extra long truck just fit. Doug (Owner) and Bill spoke when we made it to NSJ and it was decided they could take us all the way home. Bill was very friendly and we were so glad to deal with such a great company!

The Mexican place has limited hours. I haven't tried it yet, but when I do, I will write a review. The convenience store and the gas is open 24 hours. There is a post office here, but there is no counter service. It's primarily. P.O. Box and mail pick up by local residents. They do have a 24 hour mail drop, with pick up in the early morning. The convenience store is nice. It's clean, and the people are friendly. I like the decorations in the store. It has your usual. Beer, wine, food, snack, snacks, sundries, and it also has a small hardware section, which a good amount is winter gear. It has a small but nice souvenir section as well. Prices are pretty typical on some items, and then on others, they are a bit higher. I got an amazing beef jerky, and the price was reasonable for what I got They do sell chains in the winter time, but believe me, you are going to pay for them. There's plenty of parking, including truck and RV parking. There's also a popular snow park in the winter time. The elephant in the room, is, of course, the gas prices. You are pretty much in the middle of nowhere, with only a few gas stations in the immediate area, so you are definitely going to pay for gas. The best thing to do is fill up in Sacramento, Auburn, or Reno. The gas in Colfax and Truckee is a bit higher, but still well below what they charge here. I like this store. I will be back. I told him to call the police, didn't happen at first, he came around and told me to leave, I wouldn't and told him to call the police. Finally he did. Police came, took me out front to talk. Told him my story. This Nick guy looks high, under the influence of alcohol, or party's. He looks like s--t. Told the officer this. Then the officer asked me if I have been drinking? Asked why, he said he smelt alcohol. My blood pressure rises. I told him, I haven't had a drink in nineteen years. Bottom line, I was told not to go back to Quick Stop as Nick dosen't want me there. He's only worked 1 1/2 months. Supported this business 25 years and now can't go back because of this employee, Nick. I hope who owns this business contacts me. I lived in GV since 1964.
