The food was good. Notable standouts were a well seasoned burger and the bacon cheese fries. We got the creamy Italian chicken which was a weekend special, it was tasty and cooked right but the sides weren't amazing. The mashed potatoes tasted instant and the Brussels sprouts were boiled rather than roasted, personally found them gross. Another positive were the drinks - they had Sierra Nevada beer and my craft cocktail, the raspberry mule, was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. We sat on the bar side and the bartender was quick to help us. Waters were never empty and the food came out in a timely manner. We found it very affordable - 2 drinks, an appetizer and entrees came to $46, it was reasonable. This place is an eclectic mix of out of towners and locals, it is homie and has a lot to look at on the walls. Bring a coat! The AC was jumping. Overall really enjoyed it!

Way better then I expected. Great food , friendly staff. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The room was like going back in time . It was awesome. If you want to really get away from everything. They don't have WIFI in the room so you can put your phone down and relax. If you need to go on Facebook they have WIFI at the restaurant. Go there. I'll definitely go back.

Nope --not All Welcome Here. They have proven to be discriminatory multiple times now regarding my fully trained service dog.

4/16/19 -- Harassed - again. Same server as last go 'round. I come in for lunch. Me and my service dog. Again, Tisha (Sp?) Loudly and in middle of dining room dramatically exclaims that "she cannot have this!" I said what? A service dog for my disabilities? She says I have to show her a certificate. I AGAIN today-calmly tell her there is No federal or WV state certification system. Therefore, no letter or certificate. I then told her she can verify what I'm saying on Justice department ADA section of their website, under Title 3. She says she cannot "do this". So a man comes over to ask me "What can I get you?" No giving me his name. No hello or smile. No apologies. No offering to tell me the days special, which is the discounted burgers on Tuesdays. Which is what I came for. I Had To Ask for it. Told him (very calmly, straight face, quiet voice, and no bad words) this is third time she's given me a hard time. Today she wouldn't even serve me. I said I'm thinking of a lawyer. He then said "come on...."-- like I'm out of line - therefore totally dismissing the fact that I've had to deal with this Multiple Times here. I now know she's scared of dogs, but she'd Never said that before today. All she needed to do was ask another server to take my table. And we'd have had no problem. I'd understand that. **Mind you, my dog was sitting and/or laying the Entire Time we were there, and never made a peep.** and I Always sit in a corner so we are out of the way of foot traffic. My order of med. rare burger came out well done. But I was starving and mentally exhausted at this point, so I ate half. He didn't come by to check on me until I'd pushed plate away half eaten. Then he comes by to ask how I'm doing. Really? I just got a box. It was my pups dinner. Thennnnn I think he was trying to be friendly. But still no apology or future resolution. When he brought the bill, He asked her name, age, etc. but by then I was so upset I was in tears on the inside. Anyone in Lost River that knows me knows I'm a good and very, very easygoing person. My entire life has been Flipped Upside Down in the past year due to medical issues. I had28 years 'on the job' and had to suddenly stop working. Forever. So the last thing is a hard time or an uneducated, loud, and highly embarrassing encounter. I get bill, go to front to pay with cash. It's Tisha at register. She won't look right at me, didn't say "thanks for coming, or sorry for my fear of dogs"(which I total get)- "I should have just gotten you another server from the start", nothing. Then she gives me change in increments I cannot tip from. I Had to ask for $1's The thing that hurts most and kills me is I really like the place. And usually the food. Been coming here 15 years, since 2004. The man even acknowledged he "knew who I was." That made me feel worse. To know me, and still go through this? And now that I'm officially disabled (3 different diseases and conditions for F sake). and need a dog, I get discriminated against? Great feeling of community LRGrill.... PS- Their new sign saying they welcome "Everyone" is Not Accurate. Not at all. Not if you have disabilities they don't "get" or understand. Lost River Grill, Maybe find some online training for yourselves and staffers? On YouTube? Or better yet, Justice.gov. Or even go on WVs website and read up on the white cane law. K? And I also have a local business, and have referred- on average, 50 families a year to your establishment. No more. -------------- --------------

This place was very friendly and had great food! The bar tender was always willing to try and make our drink requests. We ate dinner twice and picked up breakfast once (no fresh fruit available) . They have outside seating that was screened in. It is not dog friendly, however. There are a few different rooms to choose from for seating and the place is clean and nicely decorated. Oh and I don't like wings, but they're wings have changed my life! So good!

The specials are available on their website. Here's the full menu, as of 9/30/18

I love this place. I usually go once each time I'm in LRV. The menu is ambitious, so stick to tried and true (eg meatloaf) for the best results.

A group of 16 of us booked for the weekend and I honestly can't think of enough great things to say. Seriously, everything about this place was AMAZING! I organized the trip, so I got to work with one of the owners, Jesse, to get everything set up. He was helpful, responsive, accommodating, and really kind. I organize a lot for my friends and myself, and this was one of the easiest. Upon arrival we were checked in by the other owner, Gary, who immediately made us feel like we were at home. He gave us a wonderful tour of the property and told us everything we needed to know for a wonderful stay. This property is nestled in the hills of WV and the views are STUNNING! Every space and room is beautifully appointed, really leaning into the upscale rustic vibe you'd expect in a mountain retreat. So many beautiful nooks and crannies to sit and read or play games or just nap. The pool and hot tub are gorgeous and Logan at the pool bar will take amazing care of you! They provide a complimentary breakfast of freshly cooked eggs, meats, and biscuits/scones. The lunch and dinner menus are varied and everything we had was delicious. Our servers, Rain (spelling ??) and Angie were stellar and the ambience was just perfect. Every single one of us left feeling refreshed and we were all sad to leave. Do yourself a favor and make the trek out to Lost River and treat yourself. This place is amazing and I'm already planning my next trip here with my partner.

A winding road through a rocky valley with a mountain stream that flows to the Lost River. Then you turn into the Guesthouse and the stunning main building and cute cabins are so perfectly placed on the property with lovely landscaping. Walk into the main lobby to be greeted by Gary, one of the owners. He was super pleasant and took us on a tour of the property pointing out the dining room, bar, pool (although it was still closed for winter), hot tub and sauna, gym, multiple media rooms, game rooms and lounge areas, and then our room in the Hobson Cabin. The room was well appointed and clean. The shower was beautiful and had great water pressure and temperature. The balcony had wonderful views of the parks close by. A country breakfast is served daily at 9 and is a great start to the day. The dining room is open in the evening for drinks and dinner with a menu for anyone! Gary and Jesse are always close by if you ever need anything and make you feel most welcome. We can't wait to visit again in the summer so we can make full use of the pool and enjoy some nearby hiking!

Just moments before we were going to walk to dinner at The Inn at Little Washington, it started to pour torrentially. The owner of the Gay Street Inn offered to drive us so that we would not get soaked walking. It was such a nice thing to do, and we really appreciated the thoughtfulness. It was very reasonably priced and it looked great in pictures. The whole area was nice and quiet but since you're further from the bigger inn it was nearly silent (especially at night). We pulled up in front and there were plenty of spots a little after check in time (3pm). We were struggling to pull up the door code at first but we were let in (I believe by Drew) and welcomed us into their B&B and our room. The room was pretty spacious for the two of us and it was beautifully decorated. It had anything we really needed for the one night. We booked the Bed & Breakfast rate which included breakfast the next morning (sadly we missed it) and two cocktails that we picked the day prior in our mini fridge. We enjoyed both of those and loved that it included mixers if we wanted. The extra drinks were much appreciated as well. The bed felt a little weird for me and got a little sore but my girlfriend seemed to like it. Check out was pretty simple. We basically just had to leave the key and walk out. Drew and Deb really made things easy for us and everything was seamless. If we ever did come back, I would love to stay again.

As I mentioned in the cons, lots of people stay here weeks on end like I did. However, the first room I was in was on the highway side and extremely loud. Secondly, my bed and pillows smelled so bad it kept me up at night wondering why. Then I remembered they don't change linens often enough when you're there more than a few days daily. Obviously I was smelling some other persons funk. Ewww. Thankfully, when I expressed my concerns, the staff went right to management and I was able to switch rooms! My new room was much cleaner smelling and I didn't hear the noise from the highway! The breakfast that's provided is adequate, but none of the bakery items- bread, English muffins, bagels were brought in daily. They would be hard and stale. The hot items- eggs, potatoes and either bacon or sausage was pretty good, I'd rather have something else. They did offer some fruit- bananas and occasionally apples. There is a coffee station with hot water for tea. The hot water thing was slow to pour, not very hot and more often than not, empty. Ending on a positive note! Nicole, Steven, Perry and Kevin were excellent!! They were why my stay was bearable! They definitely were professional and always willing to help with anything!! Kudos to all of you!!
