I've gone back and forth about writing this review because I really do want to support local businesses, especially ones that serve families in our community. Unfortunately, after my last three experiences selling at Lots for Tots in Falmouth, I feel like I need to share my feedback. I have repeatedly had interactions with the same employee (I'm not sure if she is in a management role) that have left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. She has consistently come across as dismissive and condescending, and instead of feeling like a valued customer, I have felt like I was inconveniencing her. During my most recent visit to sell, she was spelling my last name incorrectly. I gently corrected her, and her response was to snap back and roll her eyes. It was a small interaction, but the tone and attitude made me feel embarrassed and unwelcome. I also wasn't greeted or thanked during my visit. I completely understand that everyone has difficult days, but after multiple experiences like this, I hope this feedback can be an opportunity to reflect on the customer experience. I would love to continue supporting a local children's resale store, but I hope future customers are met with the warmth and kindness they deserve! read more

Good for buying for the most part, shoes are always very overpriced. Selling is very difficult, I brought five bags and they only wanted 6 things and gave me $5... which each item was for sale for more than that. read more

*I hope the manager reads these reviews* I cannot imagine we will be visiting again. After 3 years of lots of grace and patience with THEIR customer service, I cannot see a reason to continue to give them slack on this front. It's their job. I do not need to support a business that doesn't care well for the customers or kids. Later Lots for Tots. Hope you have a workplace revival and pull the stick out of you bums. You're missing out on a great opportunity to be a fun place. Bummer for you. Often grumpy customers leave poor reviews without giving it time. Well I'll tell you what, I have been visiting this location for 3 years. Selling and buying. Unfortunately, I have yet to have a resounding positive experience even once. Customer service: as a kids store, I expect it to be kid friendly and friendly in general. Unfortunately no. Maybe they hire people with RBF but woof walking in feels like a glare fest- very unwelcoming. And if there are kids with you- forget about it. Cold shoulder. I thought the reviews were exaggerating on this- nope. Not one bit. I don't know one mom who feels comfortable and welcome to bring her kids in there- to a kids resale store! YIKES. Despite this I 9/10 times have brought my kids in- I'm the kind paying customer with well behaved kids. I don't walk in there and feel like I want to buy anything bc of how disturbed the environment feels. Selling: it's like they're mad you're there bringing them product for them to make money off of. It's alarming how displeased the women are every single time I've dropped anything off- mind you before even reviewing my loot. And asking for a timeframe for when the review will be done has ALWAYS been answered with a condescending scowl and "oh I don't know, at least an hour oh and you have to pick it up by 6pm." I have dropped a few loads that I made a decent amount on, but always felt robbed at the dollar amount I received. Recently, I brought 5 bags of clothes and they found one item they wanted. I cannot imagine they looked through all the pieces. I am absolutely certain there was more than ONE item "worthy of their standards" in the bags. Absolutely certain. Buying: The clothes are WAY over priced. Past season, worn Old Navy is listed for the original new prices- maybe 50 cents off. Many items are pilling. Many. I have yet to find more than 1 or 2 boys items worth buying after repeated visits- 2 years looking for boys clothes. I've found things hung for sale with stains and holes and pilling. This is a gem. So many amazing finds here for my two kids AND they have an incredible partnership with Maine Needs to allow donations. Super easy to browse and super easy to consign. Shop local, buy used, and feel great doing it. read more

We were very impressed with Lots for Tots. We were a bit skeptical at first, due to a few reviews, but we had an excellent experience, in both locations. Yes, when I walked in, all of the employees were very busy working, but once I said "Hello", they were very responsive and helped me right away. I brought a few bags of clothes in, and got way more than I expected for them. I mean, they have to pay so much overhead, and payroll, etc. For me, getting a little bit of money for clothes that I would just donate, anyway, is a plus. I've tried selling clothes online, but with shipping costs and fees, not to mention my time, it never seems worth it to me. I dropped the clothes off, and gave my name and phone number and within just a couple hours I got a text back saying they were done and what the total would be for the stuff they chose to keep. (And they gave me back what they didn't want or need - some were seasonal clothes). The stores are very clean, the merchandise is very well kept. We are very impressed with both locations. A great service and such an asset to the community. It's so nice to be able to purchase nice, quality clothes, and toys at about half the price. Thank you! read more

In reading the reviews I suspect my experience trying to give them nice clothes and other items can shed some light on why their inventory is not as good anymore.... I have stopped bringing my items there because they are either too busy to bother with checking them and giving me a price, or they have a bit of an attitude toward people bringing in items to sell. That is the lifeblood of their business! About 6 months ago I brought them some clothes that had never been worn. They didn't want them. At that point I got the hint and started to just bring my items to Goodwill. Lately, I have been selling my items on Facebook marketplace with great success. I had a name brand top of the line baby hiking backpack. Before I would have brought it to toys for tots but I just sold it on marketplace. It went in about 5 minutes. I had another top of the line item in my trunk, and was in their parking lot on other business. I thought what the heck - I'll bring it in. Nope, they couldn't be bothered with it. You guessed it - I sold it the next day on marketplace! Too bad as my first choice is always to support local business. I suspect others have had a similar experience. read more

If you want to go to a second hand store and buy a used LL BEAN jacket for a five year old and spend $79.00, then by all means, this is your place! So overpriced, it's border line cruel. The only reason this place stays open is because it's in the 3rd most yuppie town in Maine read more

Kids, they need a lot of stuff. This place is great, most of the stuff seems in good to great condition. The clothing doesn't seem to over priced but the kids toy section can be great to find some gently used things at a much better price than brand new. If you are in the need for kids things from baby items to bigger kids I would highly suggest checking here. read more

I used to love this place, great items, reasonable prices, and gently used. However, the clothing selection is just terrible now. The items are over priced, some are within 50 cents of what they cost new. The condition of the clothing is the biggest disappointment. Everything is stained, pilled, or well worn. My most recent visit, 95% of the clothing I looked at was stained. Stained at retail pricing is a definite pass for me. They do have a great selection of baby equipment and the pricing on that is very reasonable. But I'm not spending $3.99 on a well worn Cat and Jack shirt when Target has sales on them all the time making them less than Lots for Tots. I wish they would go back to the way it used to be. Amazing finds! Great selection and such a friendly knowledgeable staff. Their return policy is amazing for fussy babies who can't communicate what they like or don't like. Their clothing selection is one of the best around. This is one of my go to spots for play gear AND clothes because when you're a new mom you need to maximize your shopping trips outside the house! We have shopped there happily for years. We were shocked today when we brought a crib, that we had bought there a few years ago. The buyer said that it had some scratches on it. Okay. Then she told my husband that they might have taken it if they didn't have so many. I called Scarborough and was very open about what Falmouth had said, wondering if they didn't have so many. They said we could bring it in if it was manufactured after 2011 (it was). Shortly thereafter I received a call from Scarborough saying they had talked to Falmouth and the crib was dirty. When I called Falmouth to say that I objected to that description, they told me the mattress had several stains on it and the crib was dusty. It had been in the garage for several days so I should have thought of dusting it. HOWEVER, the mattress was still in the truck and they NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT IT. Do you know what it is like to be a very involved grandparent and to be told your crib and mattress that just held your little ones is dirty and stained? It is terrible. Not the way to treat anyone. read more

I love this store and appreciate the prices and quality of cloths and toys. I can always find what I need and lots of extra fun stuff too:-) Because I do lIke the store I was hesitant to add this but feel I should. As a young mom coming in with a little one I wish the staff was more welcoming. I have been surprised everytime at how unfriendly (most) of the staff is. My child is good natured and not noisy so I don't think that is causing the cold shoulder I always feel. In short, I love this store but the unfriendliness of the staff has actually made me rush my shopping and leave early discouraged about shopping there. A smile could go a long ways:-) read more

Would not waste your time here if your selling items.. they lowball you and at a minimum take one or two items and the rest have absolutely nothing wrong with it!! When their items have stains and thing wrong with it! Gave two stars only Because they do have some good items but prices are higher. read more

Very disappointed in the entire experience I sent in 2 large totes of clothes to Lots for Tots most of the items still had tags on them, to list a few of the items there were kids sleepers, at least ten kids (possibly Old Navy) long and short sleeve shirts and an Old Navy vest all still with tags on them. There was also a couple pairs of Old Navy jeans that had only been washed but never worn and a pair of L.L. Bean slippers which may have been worn three times only to name a few. All these items had been bought for my daughters sizes ranging from medium to extra large. When my daughter dropped the totes off she was told they would call her when they had gone through it all. They did call her to tell her that she could pick up what they didn't want. When she got back to pick the items up she was told that that part of the shop that buys back items was closed. She was not told that when the items were dropped off, if she was she would have returned to the store earlier to see what the store had picked out Unfortunately she was not able to do that. When she got home we found that The store had taken everything that was nicely folded in our totes and unfolded them so it looked like our two totes were still almost full. While I folded The items back up I noticed what they had taken and what a small amount of stuff they sent back. I was shocked when I saw what they had taken and that they had paid me $32 for all the item they took, $32, that's it!!!! there was hundreds of dollars in clothes in the two totes and I got back approximately 20 items no doubt they sold the L.L. Bean slippers for more than $32. The girls they have working there are rude with zero customer service skills. I will definitely not go back to this store it was not a good experience and I will be sure to pass that along. read more

Never been more disappointed in an establishment as I am at the lots for tots location in Falmouth and Scarborough. I did a "buy", more like a rip off, from the Falmouth location. Not only was I offered minimal money for things that were brand new, half of my items were not laid out on the counter in the items they were buying and never made it back to me. Rude employees make you feel unwanted and uncomfortable in the store. Never go to this store or the one in Scarborough. read more

They have a large selection of almost everything and several new items too. However, their clothing is a bit over priced for the amount of wear and out dated styles of some. But you can find some good deals especially when they have clearance sales. Selling your items here, don't expect a whole lot. They will give you about 1/3 of what they will sell it for, or less, even new items unopened items. read more

Fantastic selection most of the time and always well-priced. The stuff is used to be sure but always in good condition and the staff is helpful. They price their Bean stuff a bit crazy but that's to be expected in most places. read more

I do wish they would have something for frequent shoppers, like a punch card with a discount after a certain number of purchases or notify you when big items come in. read more

Items are old for being too used with higher prices compared to brand new ones from regular discounted stores. unprofessional customer service with low global drive. I do not recommend that resale store. read more

For the consumer, this is a great place to purchase used clothing and children's gear. If you are looking to sell them you childrens clothing and toys that they have outgrown, be cautious. I was very disappointed with the amount of money that I was offered for my things. If you have the time, sell them on ebay or craigslist. read more
