I love fresh produce, especially fruits and veggies I've never heard of before, but only read about in recipes with an international twist. Lotte does a outstanding job catering to the International consumer. They offer a lot of vegetables, fruits, spices, frozen meals unique to Indian-Pakistani cuisine. Tons of Latin, Middle Eastern Asian items as well. I picked up a few of my weekly items and tried some of the frozen Naan breads with potato baked in them, an onion-garlic one and plain. Also, Korean items and fresh, prepared food. What stood out was the food hall in the back offering Korean, Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, and Philipino food. SCORE!! Came here again after getting a hairdo nearby, and Lotte seems to have improved. Huge varieties. Huge bakery with all kinds of Korean breads. The food court is still sad (nothing is open, but maybe it's due to this being 3 pm on a week day?). They do have an alright prepared food section (separate from that food court). The have an Aritaum shop selling facial masks. Also, significantly they offer food from other Asian regions. For example, there is a whole shop inside this supermarket that specializes in Indian food. read more

This is an enormous international grocery store! It blows H Mart out of the water. It's clean, it's well maintained, the produce is fresh and abundantly replenished by dutifully working employees, the prices are fairly reasonable, and inventory is incredibly comprehensive. And although they are busy, the register lines move quickly. I kept forgetting stuff and had to go back twice to get things and all three times the line was long but moved super fast. For us Indians, this is the next best place for groceries besides India. There's no such Indian grocery store in the area that carries this many products and quantities. Clearly the demographics is 90% East and South Asian because we know this is THE place to go. If you can't find it here, you're not going to find it anywhere. The fresh Indian sweets station, which is a separate business that operates inside the Lotte beyond the cash registers, charges by weight and was overpriced. It's convenient cuz it's right there, but you may want to look elsewhere for fresh sweets. read more

5 stars for the mom and pop shop that sells Samosas and cane sugar drink. I believe they're Indian or middle eastern. Very pleasant people, I'm always up to support small buisness especially if the quality is there. I will find out the name next time and hopefully leave them a well deserved review. Their cane sugar with ginger and lemon is Devine. So is their vegetable samosa ... delicious. Service is always great. I will definitely be supporting them now that I've found a little gem. I've been visiting this Lotte almost weekly. It is constantly busy every time I come. Sometimes too crowded, and the parking lot is packed. They are fully staffed and constantly stocking the produce/shelves. They still have a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, even the seasonal items. The seasonal fruits are placed at the front of the store, this includes dragon fruit, jack fruit/durian, lychee/rambutan, etc. They also place sale items at the entrance of the store. Sometimes the produce on extreme sale are of poor quality. This Lotte has a lot of restaurants along the side and back walls with different cuisines. There are signs in front of the store advertising some of the restaurants. There is also plenty of seating available if purchasing food from the store or the restaurants. Let's not forget Le Pain, which is also near the front of the store. The last time I was there, they were selling fresh coconut at the entrance for $3.99. I wish I had time to wait considering I'm always here for coconut water. Unfortunately, they don't have self checkout, but there are plenty of checkout counters, and they ring up pretty fast. I think by now, they know me and know that I like to bag my own groceries, so they move along. Don't forget to sign up for the store's card to get points, which includes discounts based on the amount spent. read more

Lotte Supermarket is huge! The parking lot is free to park and depending on the time, can get very busy. Employees are always busy cleaning, stocking, and keeping aisles tidy. Large variety of Asian staples, food, and ingredients from Indian, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese to name a few. Aisles are clearly labeled according to their genre. First time coming back to this store after a few years and I was pleasantly surprised to see how improved this market is. The store is clean and bright. They have added a food stall in the rear corner with kiosks that sell drinks and prepared and hot foods. Large section of packaged ramen soups. Large kimchi selection. Large frozen food sections including ingredients for Korean and Vietnamese dishes and complete meals. Large and clean meat section. Japanese ingredients such as sushi ginger and sesame oil. Neat produce section with Asian items like rambutan, Japanese eggplant, Thai basil, etc. Asian snacks, desserts, and candy. They do have a small section for "Western" staples like milk but I specifically shop here for my Asian food needs specifically fish sauce, meat or fish balls for pho, fresh rice noodle, sambal olek, Vietnamese vermicelli ingredients, and Korean frozen meals. read more

The Lotte chain has been around since '76 and offers a variety of Asian/international groceries. They have a good selection of fresh produce, both ready-made and self-serve and packaged banchans, kimchi, Asian items, international goods, fresh meats, a nice little snack aisle, and even some eateries in their mini food court. I particularly like one of their food court venders (Gom Soon Ah), which offers comfort Korean and Korean-Chinese items! Lotte also have some houseware/kitchenware items, such as large bowls, kimchi pots, and bento boxes. I like their ramen/instant noodle aisle, as they do have a good variety; I also liked the fact that they have single packs to purchase, if you wanted to sample instead of purchasing a whole pack. I found the Buldak's flavors in Carbonara and Jjajang here. Prices are also pretty competitive, and there is always some type of a sale going on. Lótte is in RVA! Grand opening. You definitely want to go... just not anytime soon unless it's the middle of the day on a weekday. Definitely the largest and cleanest international grocery in RVA. They even have a "food court." And everything's on sale during their grand opening. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at Lotte. The first employee I approached was completely unhelpful--he raised his voice and refused to walk even a few steps to assist me in finding a product price since the tag was blank. When I asked another employee, the first one said something to him in their language, after which the second employee also refused to help. Eventually, someone who appeared to be there for inspection noticed what was happening. A third employee finally came over and answered my question. Only then did the first employee reluctantly walk over and point me to where I could find the item's price. Third employee apologized then casually told me I could "complain at customer service" if I wanted. At customer service, I explained what happened, and the staff member said he would tell the manager. However, this kind of behavior seems to be a regular issue at this location. I've noticed many times that employees are unwilling to help customers and they chat and laugh among themselves, often in a language the customer doesn't understand. It comes off as dismissive and disrespectful. This is not the level of customer service one should expect, and I hope "Lotte" will take steps to improve how their employees treat customers. read more

This is not a welcoming place for kids with autism. The staff were rude and yelled at children who were simply engaging with vegetables due to sensory needs. One worker even made a sign to his coworkers about a child, which was very disheartening and upsetting to witness as a parent. This behavior shows a lack of understanding and compassion. If you have a child with special needs, I would not recommend bringing them here. read more

GENERAL Lotte is a haven for all the common and niche Asian brands of various items and always has a great selection of Eastern and Western produce. The Fairfax Hmart is nearer to me, but sometimes when I'm looking for more options, I go to Lotte. They have a great selection of well-priced meats, different brands of items like wonton noodles and pho noodles where you'll only find one or two brands at other grocers, and isles brimmed with snacks, so you'll be bound to find what you like. PARKING A large parking lot lies in front of the store that is shared with neighboring vendors. There is always availability. read more
