Came here thinking I'll get a great deal given I purchased the "Groupon Deal" at the location. First off, yes the people working there were friendly, however, the service not worth it for me. Instead of getting a cut for $28 [per Groupon], I was charged $35 because of my "long hair", secondly, I was late 12 minutes and the stylist said she wouldn't be able to dry my hair because she had someone after me - like WHAT? I didn't feel like arguing with her about the money or not drying my hair. I wasn't even able to see if I liked my haircut. It turned out OK, luckily. I should also add that I added the Deep Conditioning treatment which left my hair with a very strong perfume smell. When I got home I washed my hair 2ce to try to get it off. They did a very nice job on my hair as usual. I got my hair cut so I could donate it and they were accommodating of that and even gave me a bag to carry the hair out of the salon. The hairdresser didn't talk to me during the haircut although I tried to engage her in conversation, as I like to chat during my infrequent haircuts. When it came time to pay I had a $10 off coupon for my birthday and a separate $10 off coupon that I received in the mail-- they told me I couldn't combine them, which is fine (looking at the card after the fact that's what it says), but they didn't make me feel great about it-- I felt like I was trying to scam the system or something instead of use two very real offers that the salon sent to me to try to get me to come back. The birthday $10 came with a free deep conditioning treatment and they were able to save that for next time and notate it in the system, which was nice. They also don't have a system for tipping on the card (or they didn't ask me) so I had to dig around for cash for the tip. Haircut was $55 (before the coupon), which seems a reasonable price. I just wish that it had been a little bit more of a fun and easy experience and that I didn't feel like a cheapskate when I came here. Not off to a great start with this one. I found a deal for Lotus Salon through Groupon, like many other reviewers. I left a vmx for the salon on a particular morning hoping to get a 'repair cut' later that evening. I received a vmx back from their front desk woman to call them back and so I did with the intention of letting them know I found another place that could take me that evening. A courtesy call on my part to them. Upon my call back, the receptionist just answered the phone with a cold and arrogant "Hello", no greeting to include the business name or any welcoming demeanor, just a condescending "Hello". Ok, I didn't contribute to her tone, I just simply stated that I called earlier to which the receptionist abruptly said they couldn't take me that day. Well then why didn't she say so in her vmx to me??? I responded that I found another salon to take me that evening and I was just giving a courtesy call to let them know. Her response wasn't very appreciative and her tone was like she couldn't care less. I don't know what the issue was for that type of introduction to their salon, perhaps that I would be a potential Groupon customer, ya know, the bottom of the barrel class of people, I can only infer based on the creepy reception. I am someone looking for a new salon and I will make allowances financially for a good stylist who does a great job -- and also I tip well when I get a good cut and style because my hair is very important to me and I'm very careful with it. I didn't even get to that point with this place! I just got bad vibes from the onset and looking at other reviews of the people that had unfortunate experiences, I guess I made a good choice not to go here. People recall first impressions and the receptionist/front desk person is the face of the establishment and is the person who sets the tone of the experience. This place doesn't deserve my business unless they improve their attitude. Groupon is a great way to introduce people to your business. If you don't like the people coming in with Groupon vouchers, then don't advertise on the site. If you have other issues that are negatively impacting your professionalism, it's going to greatly impact your overall success and return rate of customers. I'm still looking for a 'home salon'. It would have been nice if this place was more warm and welcoming but they evidently have other preferences. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I've never walked into a salon and been talked to by an owner the way I was here. I left extremely offended and disturbed someone runs an establishment like that. I came in after purchasing a Groupon and scheduling an appointment. I sat down, filled out a new customer form and waited about 10 min. A woman eventually left her client and looked at the computer and mentioned it would be another 10 min and asked if that's okay. I said it was but letting someone know ahead of time by calling them would be appreciated but I'm fine waiting. She harped back with the following "it's clearly not fine" "you have a major attitude" "I mirror the attitude that clients give me" "I have been doing this for 10 years and never been talked to like you just talked to me" and more. I felt extremely uncomfortable and attacked after giving one piece of advice. Even if I was the rudest person she ever met, the owner needs to learn CUSTOMER SERVICE. After reading more reviews of this salon, I'm not the first to feel like this and I won't be the last. I walked out of this salon without even meeting my hair dresser and will have no issue getting my money back from Groupon. Not happy I wasted my time, but you live and you learn. I've been on the search for a new salon and have tried a couple of places. The location is good and the salon is nice enough (small, clean). My appointment was for the first week of November. I was early (my appointment was st 10:00 am) and the owner (who did my keratin) was just getting in. She was clearly annoyed that I was there early, but I can sympathize as I am not a morning person myself, and she likely didn't have a moment to get herself situated before she had me there, ready. She wasn't terribly warm or friendly, but again, it's early so that's somewhat understandable . As she is about half-way through applying the keratin (before the dryer), she tells me that she won't "guarantee" my keratin will last the 4-6 months unless I buy her specific products. Ugh!!! I hate when places push products on you. There is absolutely NO REASON for buying a particular brand of product for keratin-treated hair as long as you buy a product that IS specifically FOR keratin-treated hair. I do understand, however, that lots of people are looking for a cheap shortcut to using the right types of products (Hello?! You spend $300 on your hair, you don't go buy some cheap crap at CVS!). As a salon owner (and one would assume, experienced stylist) she is right to try to educate people about how to properly care for their hair. So, wanting to give her the benefit of the doubt, I assumed that was all she was trying to do, at first. I replied that I used an expensive, Sodium-Chloride, Sulfate and Paraben free shampoo and conditioner and only did so about 2X per week because my hair is so fine. She insisted that I buy her products or all bets were off. I indicated I would be willing to try the product, but would likely look for it on Amazon - again, not an acceptable option as she wouldn't have "proof" that I was using the right products. What?? Bizarre. So as to not continue to debate (really, argue) with her, I said I understood and that I'd never had a problem with a keratin treatment before so I assumed I wouldn't have one now. Later, we're chatting. I said how I'd been looking for a new stylist and told her I used to go to Dennis at another Braintree salon, but that he'd left and the woman who took his place there (Cathy) was not for me. We talked about how Groupon was working for her (I have an interest in this as I'm a Marketing Professor and we talk about Promotion quite a bit in class). She was very, very negative. She said that people go from salon to salon, getting these deals, and never come back. That really surprises me...maybe for a manicure, or dry-cleaning, sure. But for hair? Then don't do it! The keratin treatment itself - all together - took less than 90 minutes. That's everything - the wash/dry first, the application of the keratin, under a dryer and the flat ironing. When I expressed surprise about how quick it was done, I was told this was "normal". Well, it's not. I've been having keratin treatments for the last 7 years, and I have very thin, shoulder length hair. Usually keratin treatments take 2-3 hours, with 60-90+ minutes of flat iron straightening (going over each piece 8 times is the standard, I believe). In total I've had keratin treatments from 3 other salons and this was by far the shortest time ever. I still had high hopes as I've never had a problem with a keratin treatment. I even booked a follow-up appointment for 6 months later, figuring things would work out and I could tell her next time to stop pushing products, my hair was fine. She thawed a bit when I booked the follow-up, tipped her well (as she is the salon owner we know that is not required, but I felt like she provided a service, so she deserved it). She even gave me a gift card/coupon for a discount off a cut/color which was a nice touch. 2 months later the keratin is totally gone; it never really felt like it was "in there" even during that short time. I booked with another salon, Alban Hair Design, in early February. It came out AMAZING (also done by the owner, Jill) and still looks amazing 2 months later. I cancelled my appointment with Lotus, and told them why. Other people have given Lotus a good review. It's been there for 20 years so they must be doing something right. Unfortunately, not everyone is an expert at keratin. Shortcuts are taken as it's a very time-consuming process, the products used for it are expensive (or so I've been told by Dennis) and what they can charge has gone way down, which makes it a far less lucrative service. As a result, some push products, use inferior products and/or turn to Groupon. But if you don't do a great job the first time (as noted by a previous reviewer) and treat this as an opportunity to impress the (hopefully!) new repeat client, then you are wasting your time, and ultimately, risking damage to your reputation. After learning about Lotus through Groupon (wash, cut, blowdry, style, conditioning treatment), I was so hopeful going to Lotus, after reading all the great reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, this salon didn't meet those expectations. When I go to a salon, I expect cleanliness and great customer service. Once inside Lotus, I was confronted with a drab room and a lukewarm greeting. When I went to the bathroom the door was covered with grime and inside there were disheveled trays with various hair tools. NOT a good first impression and from there the lackluster experience continued (I still don't know the stylist's name because she never bothered to introduce herself). Usually when I go to get a haircut I give them a general idea and then work with the stylist on the actual cut. The "stylist" was condescending to me when I told her it had been about 6 months since my last haircut, offered no suggestions and I barely felt listened to. She was very rough with combing and cutting my hair so much so that I didn't want to be tortured with a blowout. She also didn't offer to show me the back with a mirror (isn't that a standard procedure?!). In the end, I basically got a mediocre trim. Also, their version of a "conditioning treatment" is regular conditioner and then immediate rinse after the shampoo, like when you get your hair washed at a salon. My version is when they apply a conditioning treatment and have it sit in your hair for at least a few minutes. I really don't think this Groupon was worth what it was purported to cost ($93? Absolutely not!). Luckily it was a Groupon, but this place will not be counting me as a repeat customer. Just moved to Quincy area a couple months ago and haven't found a salon at the time. I was in desperate need of a haircut and it seemed that all the places I were walking into were too busy to take me or were extremely not welcoming. I called Lotus Salon and they were able to squeeze me in. As soon as I entered the conveniently located salon I was given a warm welcome by who I believe to be the owner. All of the girls that work there are very friendly. My stylist was very patient with my inability to really choose what kind of color and cut I wanted. I'm usually not very happy when I get my hair cut but this time around I was. She really understood what I wanted and gave me a cut and color that has made my hair look fresh. The salon itself is small, about four chairs and two hair washing stations; but it's very comfortable, modern, and simple. They are also located near a side street so finding a place to park was quite easy. Needless to say I will be definitely be coming back to Lotus salon as long I live here!! read more

Got a Groupon Now for a haircut/blowdry, I've been searching around for a new salon in the area and Lotus is a keeper! I was a little hesitant walking in to a near empty salon, but my worries were soon put to rest. Amanda took great care of me-- the cut I like tends to be a challenge for many stylists (longer in the front and stacked in the back), but Amanda immediately understood what I wanted and knew how to execute it. She was even so meticulous as to blow out, straighten, and then touch up the cut. In and out in one hour, wash, deep conditioning (thanks for the celebrity rags!), and an eyebrow wax too! The place was clean and pleasant, and I fully intend on making this my regular hair-do-destination. It was only an hour before I was stopped in CVS and asked about my cut-- good thing I had a fresh business card in my pocket! With prices this reasonable and such personable, talented hairdressers, it's no wonder Lotus won Best of Braintree. Worth the drive from the city! read more

I had a groupon, but did not use the groupon app, have never had to use the app before and have never had a problem. I had a picture on my phone with code when I showed up for my appointment. The owner first complained bc I had used a groupon before and then wouldn't honor my appointment bc I hadn't downloaded app. Very, very, very rude!!! Now that I've downloaded app, it says the groupon was already redeemed, which it wasn't. So now I'm out the 85$ I paid originally with nothing done. I went into Lotus about 6wks ago to get my hair cut. I had moved to the area probably 9 months ago and hadn't had a haircut since I moved so it was long overdue. Since Lotus is literally around the corner from my apartment I decided to give it a try. My hair was all the way down to my lower back and I was looking for a big change. I came equipped with a couple of photos and Danielle was completely awesome and gave me exactly what I was looking for. She was super friendly and easy to talk to and made me feel completely comfortable from the moment I walked through the door. The salon itself is really small and quaint which I liked, the atmosphere is really cute. When all was said and done I had cut probably a good 8 inches of hair and literally felt like a weight had been lifted! I will definitely be back to Lotus the next time I need a trim. I was searching Groupon for a salon deal to take care of my dark roots and over-processed blonde highlights. I've been looking for a salon that I like that won't cost a million bucks since I moved to Boston last Feb. Lotus had a deal for a wash/cut/dry, so I checked out their website and Yelp reviews. I didn't buy the Groupon bc it wan't exactly what I needed, but Yelp reviews were really good (average salon prices) so I made an appointment for the next day. The woman on the phone (i think another stylist) who made my appointment was nice, going over the what if's of the appointment. Definitely knowledgeable. Lotus is a clean, updated salon. Amanda was my stylist, she's just great. I think what I needed done was relatively simple, an all over color to match my roots and get close to my natural color (or maybe ombre? she was insightful enough to go over the pros and cons to help me decide), but I've had consultations at other much more expensive salons who couldn't even pretend to be interested in the simple needs of my hair. Not to mention the north shore salon i last went to where the woman thought it was "so funny" the blonde highlights i wanted (??? funny ???). I could tell Amanda enjoyed her profession and my hair shows it. She's so nice, conversational without forcing it. I personally don't mind silence, I'd prefer to relax for a couple hours, but I found us chatting throughout the appointment. I showed her pics of my natural color and she brought out some color swatches. Explained that I might get fading bc of my light highlights, and answered all my questions. She matched my roots perfectly, gave me a great haircut and blowout to top it off. I also opted for a conditioning treatment she suggested which made my hair amazingly smooth.. for $10! I've already made my next appointment, can't wait to go back, and I would (and will) recommend them to any of my friends. I will admit, I hate getting my haircut. For years I have been "growing it out" and only stopping to get a trim or two a year at any old local place - like Supercuts. Getting a trim isn't *that* important, right? Boy, was I wrong!!!! I booked my appointment by chance because of location and convenience and they had a Groupon deal. But, finally having a great experience at a salon was a game-changer for me - I will be back coupon or not! Danielle, my stylist, was very friendly, knowledgable, and confident. As I said before, I hate salons because I hate paying for over-priced, dull haircuts. I'm very glad that i came across it The salon is modern and clean, the layout was open which is nice. My stylist was Desire, she was talented , friendly and she did such an amazing job with my hair. I have to say, this was probably the best haircut/ overall salon experience I've ever had! Danielle was awesome! She was so pleasant and wasn't pushing any pricey products on me which tends to be common in salon settings and makes me incredibly uncomfortable. She cut my hair EXACTLY how I wanted it which isn't an easy task because I have commitment issues when it comes to my hair. This is the worst salon I have ever been to in my life. I went there last March to get my hair colored since I had a groupon deal for the same. The owner was so rude!! i couldn't believe it! The lady who did my color was actually sweet. Here is what went down that day. I was getting my hair colored when the owner who had already showed a very unfriendly and rude attitude to me walked in to my stylist and said she had to "bleach" or something and that would cost me an extra few $$ since it isnt covered by the groupon deal. I did not quite understand what she meant, and I trusted the salon to do the right thing which was the mistake I made. My stylist apologized to me saying she didnt know they had to use the above said treatment on me beforehand etc I said thats fine and that I was willing to pay the extra dollars. At the end of my session, i did not have change with me to give tip to my stylist and the owner once again was very rude about it. She wanted me to go out to an ATM and get change!!! and not even once did she say "oh i am sorry, we dont have any cash back " etc. So I ended up walking all over the neighborhood looking for an ATM. And to make matters worse, now my hair has become so light that its practically ugly! Thanks to Lotus salon. It started becoming light since May. Now I am in the process of finding a new Salon nearby who can fix this mess. I got the feeling that the owner wasn't happy because i went with a groupon deal. Very disappointed with my cut and service got better once she gave me a discounted rate due to the inconveniences and date changes which was nice. But for the cut, she seemed very rushed and didn't feather or thin out my layers but rather cut everything straight across. It totally changed the shape of my hair. I couldn't do anything with it. Just went here for the first time last week. It's a nice salon with modern decor right in the landing across from El Sarape. I saw Julie and she was a lifesaver! I could tell I was going to like her when I saw her. She has funky style and some rad hair. She was funny and so easy to have a conversation with. Sad and depressed because i lost the only person that ever understood my hair, i reconnected with Julie Silva, an old friend from high school. Lo and behold, she does hair and suggested i come to see her at Lotus Salon in Braintree. I made an appointment right away for a Sat (super convenient, since i work FT Mon-Fri) and went in to see her. Julie has always been fun and great to talk with. Now we got to reconnect and i got great hair at the same time! Double Win! Julie listened to my concerns and hair aspirations and went to work. I got a partial foil to lighten things up, and a modest trim. My hair is extremely dry, and Julie offered suggestions on how to combat the dryness, without pressuring me into buying salon products, which is what most people do (or so i have experience at my prior salon). My hair looked great, my self-esteem soared, and i also received 20% off as a first time client! At my second appt, i got the foils refreshed and got some fun bangs. Julie is super friendly and very accomodating, offering coffee/tea/water and a plethera of fabulously-gossipy celeb mags to get me all caught up on who's doing who! My 2nd appointment w/Julie and again a fabulous job! She's great! Very nice and honest, she really know's what she is doing and does a great job! I have blonde hair and she highlights it perfectly, and she is helping me grow my hair from a horrible cut (from another place) and still manages to make it look awesome. I was driving by here for a few months and though I wanted to go in, especially after I saw the sign that they won some "The Best Of" award.....I was dropping off my shoes at the cobbler and thought, if they have an appointment available I will go today...They did...I got Rebecca from Kentucky...She was so sweet and very focused and very skilled....That was three weeks ago and my hair still feels freshly cut....My Mom is going to Rebecca tomorrow to get her hair cut like "Kris Kardashian"...I was also very impressed with the owners hair color. She is a one process blonde and looks bouncy healthy and natural...Actually, everybody had great hair styles and color..That is not always the case at a salon, although it should be... read more
