A woman washed my hair & massaged my scalp 3 times before conditioner!! Most hair salons, they barely put a drop of shampoo on your hair, rub it around for a min or 2 then rinse it out. Now I would like to tell you about the stylist, Sunny, who did an amazing blow out! Ladies, if your stylist does not section your hair with clips and blow dries each section at a time, run! I could tell Sunny had a lot of experience because his technique was spot on! When he was finished, without me even asking, he used a flat iron to smooth it out with product that left it shiny. I walked into Phoenix Hair Salon in Quincy for what should've been a simple trim -- I asked for a LONG haircut, just a clean-up. I showed them photos, explained it clearly, even repeated myself to make sure we were on the same page. Guess what? They didn't understand a single fucking word. Not only did they not listen, they didn't speak enough English to even know what I was asking. I tried to explain it multiple times, and they just nodded and smiled like everything was fine. It wasn't. These people pretended to understand just to get started -- and then they fucking shaved my head. Not a trim. Not a fade. I left looking like a bald jackass. It's like they got clipper-happy and decided to freestyle my entire life away. It honestly felt like a setup. Like they didn't give a shit what I wanted -- they were just gonna cut whatever they felt like and send me out the door. No checking, no questions, no accountability. Just pure, careless butchery. My hair was something I took care of for years -- and in one visit, these clueless amateurs took it all away. Now I've gotta hide under hoodies and hats, hoping time will fix what they did to me. But no amount of time can undo the rage and embarrassment they caused. If you value your hair, your time, your self-respect -- DO NOT STEP FOOT IN THIS FUCKING PLACE. If you see the images, the cut is uneven and I have tiny strands that are longer than the rest of my hair. The layers are horrible! The layers in the front were longer and I had random lengths throughout. It looked fine when he blew out the haircut, but when I got home and didn't style my hair I uncovered the mess! Been going to see John for years now ! Definitely would recommend them, prices are great and does a beautiful job. The 1 or 2 times I wasn't 100% happy he had no issue changing the color or cut for me. They don't have hair extensions but you can definitely get a beautiful hair cut, color and style for a great price, and I find it very helpful to show pictures of what you'd like. I have read a review someone had issues with the prices, not that they are too high but that apparently they change? I honestly don't remember that ever happening to me but I would say if your worried or there was ever a issue just straight up ask or say what the price was before and I'm sure you'll find they will have no problem. But honestly In the past 5 years or more I've been going to Phoenix for my hair cut and color, I have never had an issue with pricing. Past couple years I've been getting an angled bob with some layers in the back. Have changed the color a couple of times but for a while was getting a dark brown now I get the same brown with some natural looking light highlights. read more

I did some terrible COVID-boredom induced box bleach and dye and basically left it for 6 months (of swimming and terrible treatment overall). Not to mention the fact that I grew out my hair from the shortest pixie cut to decently long hair in 2 years, with absolutely no work on my hair in between. We were able to even out my terrible bleaching job. They paid so much attention to detail and even when doing the simple haircut did an amazing job blowing my hair out and making sure each strand was perfectly straight and even. Went with my grandmother for a haircut, but while she was washing her hair, she decided to get a perm instead. No big deal, I guess. I looked at the pricing list behind the counter as I asked them how much it was. She said $165 when the sign behind said $80 for short hair. My grandmother has hair down to her ears, I literally cannot imagine any shorter than that. The sign said shoulder length for $110. I'm like wandering where is that price coming from? They said it's the nicer solution for the hair will be $165. I mean my grandmother is sitting in the chair, well within earshot, so I didn't want to make a scene. But as I was leaving for a bit while they cut her hair, the receptionist kept asking if I needed a haircut. I told them no I got one last month, and she kept insisting that my haircut was bad. She was aggressive in her sales approach and I do wonder if that had anything to do with my grandmother deciding to go from haircut to perm. I come back after 1.5 hrs and they are done. I ended up paying another $15 in tips. So in total $180 for a perm on ear length short hair and minor cut. Mind you this is in Quincy, not a fancy Boston salon. I get it's a pandemic and business has been bad, but their tactics are low and unethical. Had my grandmother sitting in their chair before raising prices. I would NEVER come back again. read more

Very disappointed I feel that this place is a scamming joint! It shows on Yelp as a good deal for low money! I got my hair butchered there for almost $300 and they wanted more money I had to have my cousin that was a cop come down in order for them to stop trying to demand more money from me! Anna is the best! She knows how to work my hair and pays special attention on every appointment. The salon owners and staff are very friendly, super nice people! Plenty of parking which is huge! Plus very conveniently situated where there's a food court right next door and plenty of other food restaurants on the same block. Highly recommended. First off, there is parking. If you go behind the salon there is a huge parking lot that allows free parking for up to 1 hour. I started going here because of how close it is to me. My hair was bleached and some parts of my hair was pretty much dead. Unable to deal with it anymore,I went in to cut off a good 4-5 in. I got EXACTLY what I asked for! Very pleased. My hair is now much healthier. Healthy enough I can run my fingers through it without them getting stuck! And healthy enough that it won't take several hours for the dead parts of my hair to dry. The waiting area is very comfy and the people are very nice. Anna cut my hair. I got a wash, cut, and blow dry. My hair was long (reached my breast). I asked for no layers and a bit of a u-shape. I wanted it to be a bit past my collar bone. Total was 35 (not including tip). A bit pricey if you're used to going to 1 of 1,000 asian salons in Quincy but this place is pretty good! They really know how to cut and style Asian hair. The decor is clean and simple but very cozy. I had my hair dyed here and the results are amazing. Worst place ever. They messed up my hair, totally did my hair all wrong! I showed them pictures TWICE and the guy messed up. I'm Chinese and he was speaking Cantonese and talking crap about my hair, how my hair really needed a hair cut and all that crap. I'm Chinese so I understood, I wanted to change up my hair and to dye it blonde with highlights but he totally messed up and expect me to pay 100$ for a hair dye job I didn't even want! I wanted it done for graduation! They told me to come back to dye it again because the job was gonna takeb3 hours but I'm not about to pay 100$ for their mistake and even more money to have it done again when the mistake shouldn't even happen in the first place! Ok I love this salon and been seeing John and his wife for years now. Today was actually only time I wasn't completely happy with my results. I got my hair done like two months ago and absolutely loved it came out great but took couple months get back due to just never having time. Of course after two months hair cut kinda grew out but I showed him same pic I did last time and a pic of what my hair looked like last time. Unfortunately it looked almost nothing like what did before. Its not bad hair cut just not really what I wanted. I am going to go back as soon as I get the time see if he can fix it. Usually I am very satisfied with my hair after going Phoenix and pretty good after 4+ years only have one little issue. Either way I would definitely recommend anyone to go to Phoenix. Came here twice. Once for a haircut by John and the other time for a bridal makeup trial by Nancy. People are very nice there. The haircut turned out average, nothing too spectacular. The makeup trial didn't really fit what I was going for. I ended up looking very pale and glittery (usual Asian wedding makeup?). My face was a different shade from my neck. Though she tried to blend it down to my neck, it still looked weird. She is willing to travel to your home/hotel to do both hair & makeup though so that's a plus. The bridal makeup trial was $50 for makeup (includes lashes), $60 for hair. As for day of, I was told $238 for in salon sessions for both hair and makeup and $338 for on location trips. read more

I LOVED the updo I got here. I was going to the Metropolitan Opera in NYC at night and had looked up and down all over Boston and Manhattan for reasonably priced updo stylists for the special night. Based on all the positive reviews and the proximity to me I decided to try it. I was long overdue for a cut and feeling desperate, which I think was my mistake. My hair is short and thick and has a tendency to curl, but the guy who cut my hair talked me into 'thinning' it out. He seemed like he knew what he was talking about. I started to get a little nervous when he applied a razor liberally to my hair but I was like 'well, maybe he knows what he's doing...' No. It was frizzy before and now it's like 10x worse. Oh well. Lesson learned. If you have long straight hair you may have better luck. I shouldn't have taken a chance. read more

Today, I went in to Phoenix and this guy asked me if i wanted a cut and i said yeah. I've never seen this guy before and I've only been there like 3 times. I showed him a pic of a two block korean style haircut and he said okay. After 10-15 minutes into the cut, i thought the cut was almost done. Then he starting chopping off my sides and the top of my hair like it was grass or something and cut my bangs wayy to short. Then he proceeds to say that my cut looks exactly like the picture. I thought everything was okay until i looked at the mirror and saw that it was nothing like the picture I showed him and everything was too short. Basically my hair is fucked up is what im trying to say. Then I went up to pay for my cut and saw that the male boss was staring at my hair and having the 'what the fuck happened to your hair' facial expression. He then asked the dude that cut my hair how much was the cut and he has the balls to say '$18' so calmly and so i paid because everyone pays for their haircuts. After i walked out of the salon and saw my reflection and checked out my hair, I saw that my hair was completely fucked up. I should've went back and ask for my EIGHTEEN DOLLAR REFUND because i am completely unsatisfied with my cut. I don't recommend anyone to get a haircut from this place since i paid a decent amount of money for a cut that was completely uneven and a chuck of my hair was missing. read more
