What a terrible experience. The owner is beyond rude. Not only did she not listen to me but she talked over me and was truly condescending. It's a shame because the rest of the staff seemed very pleasant but almost embarrassed by the behavior of their employer. Hi, Heard about Julie, went in, asked for red chunky foils. Ended up leaving with all red hair. Was a bit freaked out because I am a blonde. It is fine though~~its only Hair! But it faded to pink quickly. Julie mentioned to come back if it doesnt stay in and she'll re-do it for me. I was under the impression, will re-do for free...if a few days later, which it was. I was charged 90. with a 20% off coupon, by the way. Problem was, I went in to the hospital to have a baby the day I re-made the appt.-so clearly, I had to wait to go back for my re-do. So, I called 3 weeks later---Obviously I have a newborn to care for during this time and I re-scheduled. Went in again, asked for the same thing, Julie suggested I do the whole head to keep color in, so I agreed. She is the master, not me. So, The final product was pretty again.....but a different red. Not Consistent at all. When I went to tip her, she charged me $70!! I was shocked, but i paid it because Im a wimp and dont know how to confront people. Moral of the story, She does good color, but Inconsistent and because she offered to RE-do my hair and charged me, She just lost a very good client. So, thats how I feel about her. She has a great personality though, too bad, I live in Braintree and guess I have to find a new salon, or go back to Allure which I always went to. NOT a good business practice. Thankyou read more

Small storefront in Weymouth Landing, strategically located next to Calabro's so your other half can join in on the fun. Though small (4 chairs and 2 wash stations), it is nicely laid out, clean, and comfortable. I came in with a Groupon for a wash, cut, and style and Danielle was my stylist. Sweet woman who does minimal chit-chatting (someone who understands silence is okay!), but can be a bit rough when it comes to running fingers through the hair for the next trim or blowdrying your locks. I have a high pain tolerance, but can see it being an issue for children or someone who is more sensitive. I told her what I wanted (style, length, less volume) and she was able to deliver. Ended up having to have her thin out one side a bit more, but it was minimal and she was able to do as requested. Danielle is experienced and listens and delivers on the cut you want. My request was pretty basic, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she can deliver on yours too! read more

I had a wash, cut and blowdry by Patrizio. I found about Lotus Salon from Groupon. I came in and Patrizio took the time to shampoo twice really well. Patrizio listened to what I wanted and looked at pictures of the style I wanted. Also, after the cut, Patrizio also took alot of time in blow drying my hair. This is usually what makes or break a salon- how much time they put into the wash and blowdry. I would recommend this salon. read more

Called Lotus Salon day-of to try to get a last minute cut for a party I was going to that night. I was able to go in an hour later, somehow got a front row parking spot, and was placed in Rebecca's chair. She was new to the salon, but not new to hair styling, that's for sure! I have crazy wavy hair and after a wash cut and blow dry, she somehow managed to tame my hair into a perfectly blown out do', which I couldn't have loved any more. I went here a few months ago for highlights and a cut. The cut was fine, the highlights only so so. When I arrived for my appointment in the afternoon the place was closed. I waited for about fifteen minutes past my appointment time and finally someone showed up and opened the door. Three more workers came in and all of them ignored me for another ten minutes. Finally, I was informed that my appointment would be with someone other than who it was booked with. Fine, it was my first time here, I didn't have a preference anyway. Like other reviews, the stylist was very rough combing my hair out and smacked me in the head with the comb (by accident I presume). I've had much better experiences elsewhere. I was in the market for a new salon and decided to find a groupon and check reviews. Lotus looked like a good pick so I paid $79 for a Groupon for highlights cut and conditioning. I did not like the way they turned out at all and I even showed the stylist a picture of my hair before that I wanted it back to. I have very fine hair and the way she highlighted it, the highlights did not stand out at all. I am not the type to speak up when I don't like my hair, so that's my fault. The real kicker for me was that I had to pay an additional $75 for extra highlights. read more

Be careful if you've got long hair. They may charge extra without telling you ahead of time till the bill comes. I went to have my hair done for a single color processing. I've got medium length hair and when I had this done at other places never charged extra for this hair length, especially for single color processing. It is nothing complicated but to bring color down to the end. But I was charged extra 10 when the bill came, without telling me ahead of the time of course. Other than that, this place seems OK, very simple decor, nothing impressive. The girl who did my hair seems nice though, so I tipped her even though she didn't tell me the hidden extra cost. read more

I have a bad back and was in pain for most of the day after leaving here. I've never been to a salon before where they have such low backs on their chairs. I made an appointment here when I learned my hair dresser, and my back up hair dresser were both too busy to fit me in. The incentive of giving new clients 20% off was the selling point (and I also live so close). I was easily able to get an appointment for when I'M available, which is after work. I went into the salon with some questions and ideas, and Cassie was both seeing my vision and also giving great ideas of her own. I ended up with a new styled cut, and a color, as well as an eye brow wax! I normally don't get my hair dryed or styled after a cut, because I hate seeing it look so good and never being able to do that myself, but also because my hair can be time consuming. Cassie understood, but said she wants to make sure that my cut is what we envisioned and needed to do some drying. I was cautious of the time and didn't want to hold her up for other clients, but she assured me there was time and never made me feel like I was taking up too much of her time. She didn't want me leaving the salon without being sure that I was happy, I was so impressed. Turns out my visit in to Lotus was exactly what I had wanted. Friendly people, treated so well, and came out feeling amazing. I have been telling people in the area about them and definitely suggest a visit in if you're looking for quality service at a very reasonable price. read more

I went to Lotus for the first time because I purchased a Groupon for a wash, cut, and style. Danielle was my stylist, and she was absolutely awesome! She was super friendly, and she made sure that I was comfortable the whole time and that my hair was just how I wanted it. If you are going to offer groupons for new clients, don't treat them like less of a client for using one! If you are offering a deal, it's probably because you are hurting for business, or just looking for a new marketing approach. If someone takes you up on that deal, be grateful, treat them like a 'regular' customer, not like a last resort discount loving cheap-o. The whole reasoning behind groupon and the like is to get new faces in your door so you have new repeat customers. If you treat them like garbage for being money smart, do you think they will return? I've made 2 appointments in the past with this salon using a groupon (new to the area, just getting my feet wet looking for a new salon to call home), and ended up canceling both times due to the way I was treated just for asking for an appointment with a deal that THEY are offering. Maybe they do a great job, but I don't care to find out. read more

I also tried out Lotus after buying a Groupon based on yelp reviews and local awards, but was not thrilled. First, I have purchased several Groupons for highlights in the past, and no salon has ever said they can only apply to highlights and not lowlights (I tend to get mostly blonde highlights with a few lowlights thrown in for dimension). This might be standard elsewhere, I just know I've never experienced it...seems to be me like it'd be the same amount of product but who knows. So, I went ahead and got only blonde highlights as any lowlights would have run me an additional $25. I agree with Ellen's review about the conditioning treatment as well...I wouldn't call it a "treatment" as it doesn't sit in your hair at all but is washed off immediately like any normal conditioner. In fact, I didn't even know I got a conditioning treatment and thought they might have forgotten. Also, I don't like going to salons where I'm the only customer, as it feels too awkward and quiet, and this is definitely not a bustling place. It is a new location, so perhaps they need to just get their bearings. That said, the highlights came out nicely I just thought it was more a case of creating false expectations with the groupon promotion. read more
