I have been a loyal customer of Lotus since before their move., which came with a name change. The new facility is gorgeous and relaxing, easy to find and the decor corresponds with the concept of Veda, earthy, natural and pure. As it is not a Veda concept salon, but uses Veda products, I also have the luxury of choosing other products. I love this fact. This allows my stylist, Allyson, the best stylist ever, to individualist the care of my hair to me specifically. Ally is a professional, superpower colorist, ultimate stylist and my monthly support system. She listens to my needs, requests and is nit afraid to offer advice . I LOVE HER! But don't think you can call and just get in! She us booked solid for weeks, as a stylist of her caliber is expected to be. But....she is worth the wait. As for the negative reviews about Lotus not being created equal.....a bit of research on the new customers part would have been good.....And probably saved them the embarrassment of giving a negative review based on wrong information. I promise I am/was a legitimate client of Sara Cunnigham's. I am a real live person. Everything in this review was legit; I noticed that part was not disputed. The attempt to discredit the reviewer proves my credibility. This practice of gaslighting someone you disagree with is a bad practice for your brand and business. How else would I have been able to take a picture of the spa waiting room and post it with the original review? BTW, that's been seen over 25K times. **UPDATED REVIEW - 20 Aug 2022 Service I have delayed writing this updated review because I didn't want negative repercussions for a former employee who is also related to me. However, after recent events unfolded, I feel compelled as my reputation and integrity are on the line; I am reducing my original 4-star rank to 2. This reduction is solely due to the services received on the above date by stylist Sandra G., a recent addition to Lotus Salon & Spa. She was available for my color touch-up because Sara was booked. I reluctantly accepted the appointment and regretted it for many reasons. First, IMO, Sandra used excessive hair-pulling force when she used a comb or brushed through my hair throughout the session. My "ouch" comment resulted in increased pain, and I felt complaining at that point would make it worse. Second, Sandra claimed to be an "expert" with hair coloring techniques; I beg to differ. She disapproved of my colors because I didn't let her use a fall palette on my head. She also took additional time after rinsing to add a variety of extra color toners resulting in significantly dried-out hair with spots that weren't even touched up. Third, she tried to convince me to add a haircut to my service, which I wasn't booked for, and I declined because I only felt comfortable with Sara cutting my hair. Despite my statement, "I'm only here for the color touch-up, not a haircut," she charged me for one at checkout on top of a style. I mentioned this to the receptionist, "she didn't cut my hair." We walked back to the chair, there was no hair on the floor, and the floor vacuum had not been used. She told me she'd take care of it, yet it wasn't, as Sandra received payment for everything she stated she did. Apparently, Sandra has a habit of overcharging clients for services that contradict long-standing Lotus tradition - free bang trims or style with service. After overhearing the policy explained to a new client, she fumed that she "doesn't work for free; I charge $15 for bangs because I have a family to feed." It saddens me that some "professionals" feel they have to rip off their clients and lie, feeling no qualms while doing so. These are antics one would not expect at a "high-end salon," yet here we are. Please note that my rating would have stayed as it was if the recent events had not occurred. I have reservations about supporting a company that condones this underhand behavior towards clients. It's clean, prices are reasonable. Cat is the reason I come here, she is incredible. A real artist when it comes to color, cuts, and updos. She went back when my daughter's nails were done to cancel because she remembered a Dr. appointment. They charged my card $40 for cancellation because it was less than 24 hrs. My nieces went in to get their hair done for my daughter's wedding. One wanted a simple waterfall braid and the other asked for a high ponytail with curls. They were both told by their hairdresser that "she couldn't do that because she didn't know how." They both had to go with very simple styles that they could have done themselves! It was a disappointing experience as they were visiting from out of town. The rest of us used Blush Salon and they were amazing and everyone's hair looked great! NOT ALL AVEDA SALONS ARE CREATED EQUAL. I went to this unfamiliar salon in an unfamiliar town based on the Aveda name, which I know well and trust. I had a certificate that entitled me to double Aveda points for a color service. I paid 50% more here than at my regular salon at home, and was not thrilled with the result. Then, it turns our they do not participate in the Aveda points program. I did really like my stylist, but I was surprised that she did not use Aveda products exclusively and also that she did not offer me a magazine while the color sat on my hair. This was not a $150 experience. Bottom line, I need to stop cheating on my regular stylist at home when I travel. I regret it every time. read more

Have to agree with Carianne (the previous reviewer) on this one-not all Aveda Salons are created equal and Lotus Salon and Spa proves that case in point. I was a little hesitant to try this one after the previous review, and I should've trusted my Yelpsters to steer me true (bangs head against wall). I have learned my lesson well, my friends. First of all, the appointment scheduling started out on a frustrating note (five phone calls back and forth to guarantee an appointment, only to have the front desk staff call me after I was already at the salon to tell me that they couldn't fit me in until the following week...um.... hello? The stylist I was very attentive to making sure she understood what I wanted done with my color, but the little extras you come to expect from an Aveda Salon (i.e. magazines while you wait, beverages and perhaps an extra hand or foot massage) were totally absent. Those aren't really a big deal, but they do go a long way to creating the whole "Aveda experience" you know and pay for. My color itself was less than inspiring and the weird styling was instantly covered by a ballcap the moment I stepped out of the salon. If that was the end to my Lotus experience, I probably would've given them two stars and chalked it up to a "meh" learning experience. But the star dropping conclusion to my less than stellar experience occurred during the pedicure I received after my hair color. I'm a little (ok-- a LOT) fanatical about cleanliness when it comes to my tootsies, so was pretty appalled at their cavalier attitude towards cleanliness and sanitation. Equipment is not sterilized, gloves were not worn, and the biggest shock of them all? I watched a staff member drop the cuticle clippers not once but TWICE on the floor! TERRIBLE FACIAL SERVICE & CUSTOMER SERVICE Im a frequent spa goer & do them for the special occasion of pampering! I went here the monday after mothers day for a FACIAL & it was terrible! 1) front desk was unwelcoming & rude (blatently complaining about customers in fromt of me while I was waiting) 2) The esthtician (JORDON) was 15 min. Late for my appt. & no with no care to it. 3) She seemed irrated & I felt it through the entire treatment. 4) I assume shes new at this, maybe just out of school... her techniques were uncomfortable & far from relaxing. She put 5 different masks or cleansers or whatever, never explained what they were until i asked!!! 5) I asked for extractions for my black heads & she maybe did 5 min. Of it. We booked this as a special date day away from our kids and highly recommend this as a mini couples retreat. I would also like to add that they are sooo affordable. She just told me that we don't do skin fades because we don't use a straight razor, and I told her that I've never ever had my hair cut with a straight razor, and she asked what they used and I told her a wireless set of clippers. And she just said Oh, and then continue to ask me what I wanted. Not actually giving me the option to decline the cut. And who is going to speak up after half their head has been shaved? Would you walk out of a salon half shaved? And I go to professionals for my hair cut, professionals know what their doing. I've been going to salon all across this nation and I've always gone in and they take over and do what the went to school for, and that's to cut hair. I've always gone to salons and gotten a skin fade WITHOUT a straight razor but when it came to your salon it was a disaster. She told me in a nice way that I should just go to a barber, even though I've gotten my haircut this way for 25+ years. Trying to cancel on me and reschedule, then your employees lying about the situation. This is where the BUYER BEWARE comes into play. I've even gone into salons and said I like it skin on the sides and I don't have to say anything else because they're the pros and they know how to make peoples hair look good! You should definitely let the customer know that this salon in specific doesn't do professional haircuts, and that the customer is going to need to baby the stylist the entire way through the cut. It's like you expect me to have gone to Cosmetology school before I can get a haircut at the Lotus. Only place I've ever felt that they had no idea what they're even doing. If she didn't want to cut my hair she should've spoken up about it as well. She might be nice around you and smiley because hello your the owner but I stand strong in the way this lady was acting while cutting my hair. I would've video recorded it but I'm sure she would've had a huge issue with that because then she couldn't make the face she was making. And me describing to you what was going on, isn't being a bully. You talk about needing to speak up, and when someone does they get attacked and called a bully for it. She knows what she has done is wrong. Her not taking responsibility for it, just shows her character. And like I said if I could've had her stop I would've but she rushed into it, not even asking are you sure you want me to cut your hair after knowing that I specifically came there for a skin fade. She even knew this because the lady that referred me told her I wanted a skin fade. So after two people telling her what I wanted she's still not going to be held responsible? The worst thing about this place...the women at the front desk. They have the worst customer service, ever. God forbid you walk in because they act like it is a hassle. One time I walked in and no one greeted me, so I said who I was there to see. Then the woman proceeded to look around me and the woman behind me and asked if she wanted something to drink. Um ok? I went to Lotus for the second time last week. I saw Jolynn...who while being very sweet, didn't seem to understand curly hair or the conditioning product she recommended. I asked for a trim, because I'm growing out my curly hair. I asked that it not be texturized or thinned out. She recommended a conditioning treatment. I asked specifically if that treatment would harm my curls. She said no. Well, it's been a few days. My hair feels like she thinned it out (remember, I asked her not to) and it's flat. No curl. I'm so sad...my curls were looking great, and now I'll probably have to get a pixie cut (somewhere else, of course) and start over growing it out. I spent $70 for a trim and conditioning treatment. For my hair to be flat, thin and lifeless. I wrote a review earlier and took it down...because I felt bad in calling the salon and Jolynne out. But, if you don't know curly hair or the effects of the product you're using and charging for it, you should be called out. Also, I emailed the salon about the issue and never heard back. Their response time is great when you want an appointment...not so great when there is an issue. read more

I drove up from Denver to get my hair done by Cassie! She did such a great job and was greatly priced! I suggest that if you need your hair done in the Springs or if you want to make a trek up she will do a great job! When shampooing and conditioning my hair they use Precious Oils by Pureology and it was amazing and now I have to have that shampoo. The overall customer service was great! I visited Lotus for a full body massage plus additional scalp massage, and thought my experience was fantastic! My masseuse's name was Emmy and she was phenomenal!! She asked before hand if I had any injuries and desired focus areas. I informed her about my shoulder injury and back injury and she was extremely attentive and sensitive with those areas. I also informed her that I had numerous knots in my neck area, which she provided additional attention The entire treatment lasted from 11:15 AM to 1:15 and I honestly don't believe I could have received better treatment and a better experience any where else. Loved, loved, loved my time with Kristen! She knew from the moment I walked in what color would look best on me, as opposed to the faded mess I had going on, and what layering technique would add body to my hair and frame my face well. My hair is super thick and heavy and the long layers just weren't working. She added some great bounce and shape, but kept the length, which was key. I've had so many compliments since then about how sophisticated I look. :) She also let me come in late afternoon, which worked great with my work schedule. I didn't have any of the scheduling troubles like previous reviews talk about and was greeted right away - even got a call the day before confirming my appt. (This isn't Andy writing this review, it's his girlfriend, Crissa) I have never been to a salon that treated their potential clients the way I was treated here. First of all, the two girls at the front desk don't acknowledge you until they have to. They didn't even crack a smile the whole time I was there. I wanted to have my hair re- highlighted because it was growing out. I showed the stylist a picture of a celebrity who had pretty blonde hair. While she was coloring my hair, she asked if I wanted more blonde than brown..I thought that was a silly question since I clearly wanted to have all over blonde highlights with different shades of blonde.. Then after she was done, she used a ton of toner on my hair and left it in awhile. When she took the towel off, my hair was mostly this dark, ashy brown. Um, what? It looked nothing like the picture I showed her. After she was done blow drying it, it looked so ashy, almost grey. Looking back, I should've just refused to pay, but I hate causing a scene or confronting people, so I just reluctantly payed $110. While I was waiting to pay, the two girls at the desk didn't look up from what they were doing for like 10 minutes. One of them just stared at me and told me to wait while they were working on something else. Which is fine, I wasn't in a hurry, but they weren't friendly or courteous at all. after that, i went to another stylist who colors my friend's hair, and she fixed my hair, touched up my roots that were still dark ( I have no idea what that Lotus girl did to my hair, I was there for 3.5 hours and came out with still dark roots and grey hair), and finally made my hair the shade of blonde I wanted in the first place. Well today I went back to Lotus to ask for my money back. I hate confrontation, so I quietly explained what happened: that the stylist didn't do at all what I wanted and that I had to go somewhere else to get it fixed, and I wasn't planning on spending around $300 to get my hair the way I wanted it. The two girls sitting at the front desk (Sandy was the name of one of them) just stared at me. Then this older lady came over and looked up when I had gotten my hair done there. It was a few weeks back. I work until 7 ever day, when the salon is closed, and this was the first Saturday I could get off and drive over there to get a refund. Well the owner wasn't having it. She said there was nothing she could do about it now. She said if I had asked for a refund the week that I had gone in, she could've given me my money back. That was "salon protocol". I'm sorry I missed that memo. I told her what difference does it make how long ago, it was only like two weeks ago, and I still had to go somewhere else to get it fixed. She just got up and left. If that's how they treat potential clients, they need serious help in the customer service department. So one of the girls said I could get some free shampoo. (Really??) I didn't want free shampoo, I already have some. I just wanted my money back for the crappy hair dye job I got. But like I said, I hate confrontation, so I picked out some shampoo. The girl helping me clearly knew nothing about what she was talking about either. She recommended this one type of shampoo and on the bottle, it said it was for aging, grey hair. Well I didn't have grey hair anymore, thanks to the second stylist I went to. So anyways, I picked out two huge bottles of shampoo which didn't even total to the amount that I payed for the horrendous hair appointment in the first place. No one, not the two girls at the front desk or the owner herself, said sorry or anything! I couldn't believe it. I'll be sure to tell everyone I know not to go to that salon. I have been going to Cassie at this salon for a couple of years now and have always loved her hair coloring (I get highlights and lowlights), her excellent cut and her up-do's. I know she will always make me leave looking and feeling WAY better than the regular AVEDA salon a few blocks away. Some of the harsh comments by others really surprise me. Maybe all of the happy customers just don't think to write a review. I have been to several other Aveda salons, and no, this is not a purely Aveda product salon. They take mostly from Aveda, though, and sell their products. I am hard to satisfy with color, and I am always thrilled with Cassie's work. She also salvaged my daughter's hair when she used a supermarket black hair dye. Magazines are all over the salon, just ask for one. Had some down time while visiting so decided to get a mani-pedi. Was referred there by my hotel. Worst gel manicure I ever got. She filed the tops of my nails with the "rough" file. It hurt, when asked why she was doing it she replied so the gel would stay on better. I had this done in March and my nails are still growing out from this. Didn't trim cuticles or even push them back. My pedicure wasn't as bad but filed a callus down that it bleed. (I didn't realize that until I got back to the hotel and realized it happened when I walked on it). With this being an Aveda Salon I expected better. Go somewhere else. I purchased a gift certificate of off Coloradoconnection and was excited to check out this salon that was an Aveda salon (like the one that I went to in San Diego CA while i lived there). Aveda salons are known to be calm, relaxing, clean, fresh, and excellent stylists. This is definately the exception to that rule. While I understand that it was a Saturday and perhaps there weren't a lot of people on call prior to 9am, I arrived 20 minutes early for my appointment and while I could hear staff in the back no one came to the front to greet me, another woman who also arrived about 15 minutes early for her appointment was waiting as well. The front desk staff and a stylist did come in at about 10 minutes to 9 and she was very friendlly and made me a cup of coffee and set me up in their relaxation room. Unlike other Aveda spas this room was less relaxing and more of a nice waiting room with magazines and dimmer lighting. My stylist: This is where it goes downhill. She arrived late, it was only a couple of minutes and I understood (better than most) that she had gotten lost running an errand that morning on a military base. What upsets me is that her grandmother was there watching her son and she had already shampooed/conditioned her grandmother before bringing them back to the waiting area and getting me. She took me for a brief consult during which I showed her a picture of my haircut that I had been getting just to show her this one thing my hairline does that kind of separates out my bangs. Other than that (which I told her could just be the way my hair grows cause my natural part is over there too) I have been satisfied with my cut and just needed a trim and a new salon. She managed to cut the body seemingly well enough but after she blowdried the hair she proceeded with the bangs. I showed her how my last stylist had showed me to cut them at home and told her it had been working well but that I think it is important to go to the salon regularly still so that I don't get too far off from that guide. I told her I just needed them trimmed a little and shaped up so I didnt mess them up in my trimming. She cut the bangs a totally different way and while I almost said something I thought that maybe she knew a way to get the same result with different technique. No... she didn't. And I wanted to cry when I looked at my Brady Bunch bangs. I felt hacked at. She texturized them some but it got to the point that NO, I just DIDNT want her to cut them anymore. She tried to tell me "I cut at a sharp angle" no... they are a straight line, across PART of my forehead from my natural part on the right, all the way over until the left edge where she left the longer pieces. Furthermore, some pieces are uneven, not in a neat edgy way either.... in a tacky looks like I cut my own bangs *but I could have done better* way. Lastly, I said they could graze my eye but they were IN my eye so I needed them trimmed... they now graze my eyeBROW. I cannot help but wonder if her 3 year old son who kept interrupting her while she blowdried my hair and then began on my bangs distracted her from cutting my hair properly. I am mom to four and I know that kids can be distracting. Her half-hearted sorry at the end and seemingly uncaring attitude that my face was now framed by bangs I wouldn't give someone I hated just didnt cut it. And she went to work on her grandmother's hair after leaving me at the front desk. I don't care if they asked her to come in special to cut my hair on a Saturday or if it is a scheduled work day, you don't bring your small children to an upscale salon unless you are paying the $50/haircut for them. Being friendly does not excuse a lack of professionalism or a bad hair cut. When I was checking out at the front she asked if I was happy and I said no. I told her I didnt want my bangs this way etc. To which she (to her credit in a very FRIENDLY manner) suggested that I try a different stylist next time and reccommended the one she uses. There was no offer to see if there was anyone else there who might be able to fix this somehow or see with a manager about maybe coming in when they grew out some to get them fixed. I have another gift certificate for here as well as one for the spa but I am thinking that the hair gift certificate will be donated or sold on craigslist... I will be finding another salon. To the owner of this Salon: Your front desk staff is very friendly but your stylist needs more professionalism and training. In addition if presenting your establishment as a stress-free salon/spa atmosphere children of your employees should not be permitted in the workplace during normal operating hours. read more

I have been going to Lotus exclusively for my hair and waxing treatments now for nearly a year. The receptionists always greet me immediately and with a smile and great customer service, confirming who my appointment is with and asking if they can get me a drink while I wait for my appointment time as needed (I often arrive 15 minutes early). Katie gives me a great head massage while she washes my hair, chats with me while she cuts and colors (I highlight once a year in the spring), has given me great advice on area attractions as well as areas to steer clear of (I moved here only 2 years ago - she has lived in the area for much longer), and answers all of my questions about hair care while she recommends both Aveda and other brands. Rebecca does my eyebrows and Brazilian waxing and is very careful to ensurd the wax is not too hot. I don't bother taking any kind of pain or anti-inflammatory meds before (or after) my appointments. She provides great after-care advice and ensures I leave with NO residue. The prices are more expensive than chain hair care and independent waxing places in town; but it's worth it for having an "all-in-one" spot where I can go when I want to be pampered while taking care of these women's necessities. I don't know why the reviews for Lotus were so bad in 2011 and 2012 - but I would definitely recommend the spa for these srvices to anyone new to the area or looking for a new place. read more
