Delicious artisanal pizzas. Service (Justin) was warm and efficient. Desserts were excellent. Reasonably priced. Cozy and warm ambiance.

The Garrigue ... it was delicious!

Had an exquisite brunch, the Garrigue. Highly recommend it. The chef/ owner puts a lot of love into his meals, you can taste it.

What a GREAT find! Not sure if many tourists can find this…read moreplace, 1 mile out of the way; but worth the visit in my opinion. Quality/Quantity - ESB, closest they had to a red and it fulfilled my needs. Atmosphere - Cool decor and art. See pictures. There is also an arcade here, but it was closed when we arrived. Indoor/outdoor spaces. Dog friendly. Full service or a to-go area. Open 7 days a week from noon until 8pm, 10pm, or midnight. See picture. Yelp's and their website's hours differ slightly. Service - 6 stars. Sorry, I forgot his name, as it has been almost 3 months since I visited. Yes, I am very behind on my Yelps due to my extensive travels. He was so patient, a GREAT ambassador of the brand. Sampled a few beers for me, etc. He even offered and brought out a blanket for my wife when he noticed she was cold and I prefer to sit outside rather than inside. Thank you again! Price - Reasonable price + generous tip, especially since we are out of the tourist areas. Owner Suggestion - Congrats on your success since 1997 with our 4+ locations and since 2013 with this location. I am so glad that John's (the founder) first beer was the ESB which was the one I got.

They have 9 taps for beer and have quite the selection. Currently they have 'good grief charlie' a brown ale and 'wheat in the knees' which were all amazing. They have a tiny kitchen with a small but heart menu of salads, chilli cheese dogs and flatbreads (and a few other things). The staff are absolutely amazing, knowledgeable and will do anything for you, as someone who prefers a root beer to beer - they went out of their way to get me a sprite (which blew my mind). My partner absolutely enjoyed this lovely time. They also have a few games to play! Highly recommend this little brewery, it's small but it is mighty delicious.

Love this place!…read more Been going since it opened last December and it's always a great experience. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter and I think Instagram too - so you know their hours, what's new on tap, what's on the guest taps (buy local!). Trivia night #2 was a success! We ordered pizza this time from Rocky Lake Pizza across the street and omg that was the perfect meal paired with the perfect Off Track brew. I had the Sessional IPA on tap 8 (I forgot the name) and it was soooo tasty that I had two (not like me). The rest of my party went for the Damn Skippy (peanut butter mmmmm - you have to try it). Flights are a way to sample several brews - usually I do that. Love the merch! Normally, I don't buy this stuff from places but I have several items already and I'm most definitely getting the zip up hoodie next time. Lots more I can say, like... Dog friendly establishment. Projector for watching "the sports". Clean. Friendly faces - who will explain the various brews on tap. No kitchen - but you can bring your food there - ask the guys, they'll be happy to help.

After a couple of rounds, Henry the (mis)manager refused me service, so a friend offered me his beer, which I took a sip from. Henry's colleague, this miserable and rude woman, then proceeded to shout and scream like an immature child at me - a customer - how I'm making them unsafe at work and demanding that I leave the premises. Of course I leave, who enjoys being screamed at? A few minutes later I'm sitting outside the venue on the street and I'm on the phone to my friend, still at the bar, asking when he'll leave, when Henry comes out to harass me, accusing me of screaming - funny, his idiot colleague just did that to me, yet it's okay if she behaves that way. Isn't that funny? Refusing service is part of your job. Screaming and abuse is not. If you are that incompetent at a simple task and need to resort to shouting to solve a problem, you are clearly in the wrong job. The venue was practically empty, even on Sunday afternoon, which is highly telling of the quality of staff. An extremely disappointing and upsetting experience, Henry and his idiot colleague are an embarrassment to the brewing label and the craft, as a whole.

Since we moved back to Halifax, and specifically the Dartmouth side of the harbour, there have been…read moremany new-to-us places that opened up while we were away for several years on our Ontario interlude. However, North Brewing in Cole Harbour falls under the category of "formerly-new, now-established" spots that I was able to visit once or twice back several years ago and am now experiencing again. A lot can change in that time span, especially in the restaurant industry, so I was looking forward to trying them out again. My wife and I found ourselves here after some plans changed and we needed an easy weekday dinner. The sun was shining so we set up shop on their patio. Hints of fall were in the air, but maybe that was just the heavy traffic of Cole Harbour Road - who knows! The menu was really interesting, with a dozen each of apps and sandwiches, with a few each of salads, larger dishes and desserts. It's mainly casual, pub-y food, but with a more creative angle, and several items go in the direction of a South Asian influence. My love of South Asian street foods made me go with the chaat dog, which sees an all-beef hotdog get the chaat treatment, getting topped with pomegranate seeds, fried chickpeas, curry leaves, sev, cilantro and pickled red onions, as well as tamarind sauce and a cilantro chutney. It was a messy boi, but I still opted to eat it with my hands versus the knife and fork method. The chaat flavours were well-executed, and were both a fun and delicious take on the hotdog, although I'm not sure if an all-beef hotdog is the Hindu version of kosher. Authenticity isn't the goal with a dish like this though, and it was a delight! A side of hand-cut fries were cooked to perfection but slightly under-seasoned. I also grabbed a pint of their Glorious and Free IPA, made from all-Canadian ingredients. It was well-balanced, with hops that made themselves known but didn't get too in-your-face, or taste buds, as it were. My wife was enticed by their pulled pork sandwich, as she often is. The pork had a nice texture (not mushy) with a sweet and savoury sauce and slight hint of heat from the spicy mayo, while a red cabbage slaw and pickles brought some textural contrast and pops of acidity. My wife subbed in their gluten-free bun for a modest fee, although near the end of the sandwich, the bun gave way to its messy cargo. She also upgraded her fries to get a coating of masala spices and a tamarind ketchup, which were a tasty little improvement. North Brewing is a delicious oasis in a sea of asphalt and chain restaurants, turning out creative, but accessible, dishes and drinks, and I'm looking forward to getting reacquainted with them some more.

E never thought E would bad mouth a beer, but this "beer" left a bad taste in E's mouth. So let's have an honest conversation about Figgy Pudding... E must say, this has to be the most revolting and expensive beer ever concocted. With hints of aluminum foil, sour feet, moldy grapefruits, summertime garbage disposals, and discount dark chocolate; this beer should have never been created, let alone sold to the public. And this is a new one... E has never yelped a beer, or even poured one down the shitter before today, but quite frankly E couldn't wait to see the last drop of that abomination of a beer slide down the drain into the dark abyss of the sewer system - where it belongs. E expected hidden cameras to pop out and say "Gotcha, I can't believe you drank the whole thing" or to get startled by Ashton Kutcher jumping out of the closet to say, "You got punked"... Was E part of some sick, deranged reality tv show? No, sadly not. Burn the recipe... Unless you're going to use this on an episode of fear factor. - E
