I'm very happy to see they expanded their days of operation, just wish they were open past 2pm... That said, Lou's has the best selection of baked goods in downtown Mebane, hands down and their offerings rotate pretty regularly so you can change it up day to day. They recently upped their coffee game to a local roaster and that was a welcome sight, though no espresso drinks... yet. Conveniently located at the intersection of Clay and Fourth, right next to the farmer's market lot, and with ample parking, as well as a bike rack, pocket park to enjoy your baked goods and coffee. My only gripe... and it's a minor one is the density of their croissants... IMO, they are a bit dense, slightly too "doughy", but very, very flavorful. I just think they could stand to a little lighter and flakier. I love their cream pies and just wish for some fresh strawberries (when in season) to go with them. I've not had a bad baked good from here and that's saying something. Consistency is spot on! Don't hesitate to stop in and treat your sweet tooth.

A friend brought us a variety of pastries while we were in town. They did not disappoint!! Croissants are HUGE and possibly one of the BEST we have had!! So many layers, so buttery, YUM!! Will definitely be getting some when we come back.

Custom ordered sugar cookies on theme

I ordered sugar cookies for my granddaughter's 1st birthday and they were so perfect! I gave a general direction of "strawberries & 1st birthday" and Lou's produced beautifully designed cookies that tasted amazing too. I'll be ordering more for various celebrations.

I had heard good things about T Distefano's bakery before and happened to be in Mebane for the day…read more I'm so glad I was because everything we tried was delicious. The shop has the display cases right when you walk in the door and there is a little cafe area off to the right which seemed cute. We were greeted when we walked in and the girl who helped us gave us plenty of time while we decided what to order. I asked what her favorite thing was that they had and she told me the danishes or the cheesecakes. I ended up ordering several things to try: a glazed donut, glazed raspberry filled donut, powdered raspberry filled donut, cheese danish, chocolate chip cookie, and cinnamon roll. The donuts and cinnamon roll were given to family who already knew how good the donuts were and we tried the chocolate chip cookie and cheese danish. The chocolate chip cookie was huge, chewy, and had a great flavor. I think my favorite thing I tried was the cheese danish. The dough was buttery and the filling wasn't too sweet. It was a great suggestion from the girl working there. Also, all of this was under $18 which is crazy. Will definitely be coming back.

The display cases of the sweet treats looked well organized and the presentation made it really hard to choose just one thing, as there were so many items on display that looked absolutely inviting!

Food and Drink: Mannnnn it has been over a decade since I had last this place and it brought back…read moreso many memories of my time in Mebane!! For dinner, I had the Johnson Club, onion rings, and sweet tea. The club was and still is one of the best club sandwiches I've ever had. The amount of protein is plentiful, and the addition of the egg puts this over the top. The restaurant is a bakery so the bread used for the sub is soft and fresh. The onion rings were hot, had the perfect amount of crisp and they were not soggy like other places I've been to. Overall, I left with nostalgia and I am definitely looking forward to coming back! Customer Service: Upon arrival, the waitresses welcomed me in and invited me to sit anywhere. I was promptly tended to and my waitress was soooooo friendly!!! It's the southern charm and politeness I miss the most about North Carolina and neighboring areas. Already knowing the sandwich I wanted, I took her advice between the fries and onion rings and she didn't steer me wrong! I appreciate her work ethic and making sure that everyone in the dining room had what they needed and helping a few others (some first timers!) decide on what they wanted. Ambiance: This place is casual, and intimate in a way. It's not a huge space but it's big enough for multiple groups to enjoy lunch or small families to have a sit-in dinner. I highly recommend this place as a stop on any commute between Charlotte and the Research Triangle Area.

One negative, otherwise great pizza, seating, restrooms etc…read more Everything is self-serve, when at cash register giving order and paying with card it asked for custom tip, 18%, and higher! This is a serve yourself, clear the table like a McDonalds. Requesting a tip upfront before receiving pizza and being self serving restaurant I found this over and above. Someone brings pizza to table when cooked. Otherwise it's on you. I spoke with the cashier about this and he said it was the owners thing. Seems like money grabbing to me to pay the bills. I think this will chill more customers than is worth it. Maybe not, maybe just me‍

The lady that runs this place is the wife of a vet hailing from Puerto Rico. They have Puerto Rican coffee and pastries. I missed out today but I did try the ginger coffee cake and it was superb. If you are a military supporter then this is a great place to support. I ordered pastries for a party I have next week. They do special orders and catering. Plenty of parking in front. I enjoyed seeing all the dog pictures covering the walls. The pastries here all looked amazing especially the sourdough chocolate chip cookies! I tried the sourdough pizzas they make on the wknds and enjoyed every last bite. The crust is just so perfect, it makes a nice crisp noise as you bite into it but still has that nice chewiness to it that makes a sourdough perfect! the buffalo mozzarella mixed with the garlic sauce was so great however I wouldn't mind a drizzle of buffalo sauce over the pizza for an extra kick. I also tried a sip of their cortado coffee which is true what they say puerto rican coffee is the best coffee!!! Loved it!
