Ordered my son's tux for his prom 2024. Picked it up the day prior to the event. We opened it only to find his BLACK shirt was dirty with what looked to be girls foundation makeup smeared across the front collar area. It was a BIG area. It stunk like a mix between mens cologne and girls perfume.... prom was in a couple hours and we were supposed to be going to do pictures. I called and they said they couldn't do anything because no black shirts left... offered have ME drive 45 mins to merrillville site to MAYBE exchange if they had one but no time to do any of that before pics and prom. So I cleaned it best I could with a damp rag as they directed and was told they'd make it right seeing I paid over $200 for this one night. They DID NOT REFUND ANY MONEY AT ALL!!!!!! I would recommend literally ANY other shop. Next time,,, I'll open it IN SHOP when picking up. NOT that it'd be rented here again!!! Also young girls at counter didn't seem to know much from the get go, at least they were polite I guess while screwing us over. read more

They are the best for weddings. We got our groomsmen and dads outfitted here (groom was free!), got our wedding invitations here, and my bridal gown preserved through them as well. They offer a program for free wedding invitations and have a HUGE selection to choose from and we got a discount for bridal gown preservation. A tuxedo shop caters to ones most important day. There are no do overs for a prom or wedding - use someone who cares enough to offer you the courtesy and service you deserve. THIS IS NOT THE PORTAGE STORE. WORST SERVICE EVER! Would recommend you think twice about using their service and then go somewhere else. We called (Portage, IN store) and asked (Missy - store manager) if we could buy our grandson's tux for the wedding and we were told no, we could only rent it. Took him in for the measurements and 2 weeks later heard that the other child in the wedding was able to buy his tux (at 1/2 the cost of the rental). We called the Portage store and talked to Curtis and were told that we could buy the tux. Told Curtis that we just bought our grandson a size 7 for another wedding, but Curtis insisted that Missy measured him at a size 6. We ordered the 6 on their recommendation, they were to call when it came in. It sat in the shop for over a week - no one called and let us know it was in. Worst of all IT DID NOT FIT and the wedding was 2 weeks away. Three more days were wasted getting in a suit in the WRONG COLOR the next size up - just to check the size???? The next size up (7) did fit with minor alterations to the pants. I was told the right suit MIGHT come in the day before the wedding. At this point I called corporate and was assured that the right suit would be in the day before the wedding, before the store opened. My plan was to be at the store that morning when they opened. The suit came in early and arrived on Wednesday - do you think the store manager, Missy, called and let me know - absolutely not - she sent a text to the bride. Did not have much luck here. The woman helping us did not ask any questions about the type of wedding, or how formal of a look the groom needed. She did not explain pricing or details of tuxedo rental. I would recommend this location for less formal events, but not for a groom. read more

We came in today to be fitted for a prom tux. The young man, Curtis, who helped us was very pleasant. He had several other people come in just behind us for tux fittings as well (2 for choosing tux and getting measurements, one to see if their ordered tux fit, and a customer who came in to purchase an accessory). He handled all of the customers with ease and addressed everyone by name. He was very helpful in choosing color/tux style. He explained everything clearly about the rental process (not my 1st tux rental but my first one here and other places have been less than courteous). Would highly recommend this shop, especially if this young man is working. You will not be disappointed. read more

I came in to the store for my wedding completely clueless and left with thee most perfect groomsmen look! Missy was extremely knowledgable and personable! The next time I came in she helped with the wedding invitations and again, I walked out with invitations that matched everything to a T! She was absolutely amazing. I even had some groomsmen from out of town - Louie's was completely professional, accommodating, and helpful! We have rented tuxes for 5 (yes, 5!!) proms from the Louie's in Portage, IN. EVERY time was a success!!! The fit of the tuxes was perfect...our guys looked EXCELLENT!! Their customer service is great!!! This last rental was a little tricky, as our son was out of town at college and couldn't get home for a measurement for the tux for his girlfriend's prom. He had measurements taken at a tux shop (NOT a Louie's) in his college town and his gf took the measurements to Louie's. Curtis looked up his measurements from last year's rental and they were NOT EVEN CLOSE!! We opted to order the tux in the same size as the one he rented last year from Louie's. He arrived home the evening before and the tux shirt was just a little short in the sleeve length. They were able to order a different shirt and when he picked it up on prom morning, it fit PERFECTLY! He looked GREAT!!!
