When I tell you this is THE best place to shop in The Region - I am not kidding. To explain, let me take you back to August 2023, I was less than a year post partum and had my appointment at SBB with Shannon. I tried on quite a few that I liked but nothing completely wowed me. Until Shannon took it upon herself to pull one for me to try on. It was strapless (which made me uneasy) but she added straps to give it that off the shoulder look I wanted. It was PERFECT. I am not someone who cries but this dress had myself and my group in tears. We purchased it THAT DAY. Fast forward to June of 2024 - I have lost about 80 pounds and get the call that my dress was in. Panic set in but Shannon assured me that it would all be fine. I went to try it on and of course it was about 5 sizes too big. I brought it to my seamstress July 6th for alterations and was told that it may not be doable and it if was it would cost me around $900. (My wedding is October 26th by the way) I gave the store a call simply to find out what the name of their sister store was as I was most likely going to have to get a new dress. Luckily it was Shannon who I spoke with and she was just as upset about the situation as I was. She told me she would call me right back. And she did. With the name and number of a wonderful seamstress who was experienced in this type of work. She also said she could POSSIBLY work something out with the sister store for a trade in for my dress. (That's not something they typically ever do but she would ask!) hey, the worst the owner could say was "no" at this point. So with no "good" option I made an appointment at The One as well as with the experienced seamstress. (Take a look at my review on The One by SBB's page to see how that went.) When I say I was completely BLOWN away by the kindness and generosity I felt by this store and its employees/owners, I mean it. They could have easily said "too bad so sad" about the entire situation but they are REAL people who actually care about their clients. In a world that is so harsh and cruel these days, it's hard to find that. I will recommend SBB to ANYONE that will listen! Prior to going to this boutique, I did a lot of research on which boutiques carried Martina Liana and Essence of Australia gowns. I looked in particular for boutiques that not only carried these lines but ones that also have samples in plus sizes. So many boutiques have very limited or no dress samples at all in plus sizes. Luckily, Something Blue Bridal is not one of those boutiques! I got to feel like a princess during my entire dress try on. At no point was I made to feel like I didn't have options. Amber went out of her way to cater to me and she was very good at listening to what I wanted and pulled dresses that I actually liked. When I came into the salon, I had one particular dress in mind. However, even though the store had that dress, I didn't even bother trying it on because Amber had pulled a different dress that just took my breath away when I tried it on. My aunt who was with me even started crying. Once she put a veil on me and gave me a bouquet, I knew it was the one. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get my dress in time- we went dress shopping in July and our wedding was in January- but Amber assured me that we would get it by November. And she was right! Something Blue has been my favorite vendor to work with by far. The shop is beautiful and clean, and the whole team was very friendly and energetic. Amber was phenomenal to work with. She was so patient and she chose the perfect dress for my wedding, despite my non-specific reasons for saying no to the first few I tried on. I want to take a brief moment to let others know how great it was to work with you all. Something Blue was the second bridal boutique I visited. Considering how indecisive I can be, I had an idea of the dress I was looking for...something simple but with a little sparkle. The dress that caught my eye (a Stella York dress), Something Blue did not have in stock but they ordered a sample dress. After about a week or so, the sample dress arrived. Even though sample dresses are not new/clean/actual size, I loved it! I did not hesitate to order MY DRESS. I am so happy we stumbled upon Something Blue. I went wedding dress shopping with only one idea in mind - a long sleeve wedding gown - and walked away with not only my dream dress, but a feeling of gratitude to all of the girls that work at SBB. Celine was my bridal consultant and pulled every long sleeve gown in their inventory. My mother is handicapped, and they were accommodating to place a chair in several areas of their store for her to sit while we browsed through the dresses, while I tried them on, and even at the counter while we checked out. I was living in NC and came to visit my family in Schererville soon after I was engaged. My sister and I went to her eye doctor appointment and I had noticed a boutique across the way. We decided to pop in. It was very clean and welcoming with a wide variety of gorgeous dresses. The owner, Sandy was very nice and generous just to let us browse through the dresses. I was so pleased with my first experience at Something Blue Bridal. I found the salon after a few not so great experiences at other salons in the Chicagoland area and originally booked an appointment as they were having an Allure trunk show. Part of my disappointment with my dress shopping experience before something blue had to do with the scamming that goes on the minute you use the "w" word:"that day only"pricing, not being able to select your own gowns, being brought only gowns outside of your budget (if this annoys you too...avoid weddings 826 in Lincoln park, not being able to take pics even though your true purpose in doing so is to see how you will look in pictures, as, if you were going to have the dress remade elsewhere, any dress picture is EASILY found on the web, pushy consultants...the list goes on and on. I had been trying to curtail the industry scams in every way possible, but when it came to the dress, I was really having trouble. Then I found something blue bridal and I'm so glad I did!! Sandy (the owner) offered exactly what I was looking for in a bridal consultant. I was able to peruse and pull the gowns I wanted to try, try the maybes on over and over (its a big purchase/decision), and she offered feedback that seemed to be completely genuine not just telling me everything looked beautiful. Never once did I feel any pressure from her. She was so laid back, down to earth, and honest. When I showed her a picture of a dress that I had been eyeing from the same line as the trunk show but that was not part of it, she said she would be able to order it and... I would still get the trunk show discount! I was surprised at this as my previous experiences had lead me to always expect an exclusion when a deal sounded good. Even better, Sandy explained that the trunk show discount would be good until the end of the trunk show so there was no pressure to decide that day. Also, she did not mind letting my mom take pics of me in a few dresses to help with my decision. This may have been the key selling point for me as I was able to try on a very similar body style gown to the one I wanted and being able to view the pics definitely helped me solidify my decision! One more plus, the boutique is adorable and an easy shot from chicago where i live. The fitting rooms are large. The dresses are well taken care of. You can find a beautiful dress and order from a business that you actually trust and want to support. I called in my order today. i knew they were very busy as the trunk show is still going on and it is a holiday so I wasn't the least bit surprised when I did not get an answer. I just planned to call back a little later. I was very surprised when Sandy called me back just a few minutes later (I hadn't even left a message!) Sandy from this boutique is wonderful. She took a Monday appointment even though they were supposed to be closed. Absolutely recommend going on a weekday!!! She was patient in letting myself and the girls that were with me pull dresses and also was telling us some different options for some of the dresses. The prices were Reasonable and I was able to stay under budget which was great! She was honest in her opinion and made the entire process of choosing my dress an extremely enjoyable experience. Only issue- which is absolutely not their fault- is that the address of the store is wrong on Yelp and Google. So finding it was a challenge.
