These cards were sold in a neat boutique store near where I used to live, and I stock up on them whenever I find them. Perfect for all occasions. The Orange Tree also sells perfect gift items - including ND items that are made right from parts of the stadium. My brother-in-law is a semi-professional tennis player, and I found a bottle opener, made from the grip of a genuine wooden tennis racquet. It was the perfect gift for him, and I was delighted to see him excited to see him trying to match the grip of the former owner as he inspected his new functional keepsake. I…read moream a brand new Grandmother and this shop has all kinds of fun stuff to buy for my granddaughter - grand is the operative word! When you are the Mom you have to buy diapers, shampoo and stuff like food. As the Grandma I can buy all the impractical stuff. I have only been there once since my granddaughter was born but I was able to find the cutest head bands with bows that attach for football games and St. Patrick's day. Sigh of bliss. How fun to buy such non essential items. They have tons of darling dresses, socks and coats that are so cute and cunning. I love everything they have here. Some of the items are custom made and are similar to what I make for my sweet new granddaughter and I love that also, it makes me feel like I am so darn clever. I don't know about you, but I plan to head over early and often.

They had some cute children's bunting as we get closer to the winter months. They were having an "indoor sidewalk sale", with some of their items being up to 75% off--this included clothes, toys, books, and other items and knickknacks. They had some books and stuffed animals that complement the books, like the Little Blue Truck and Corduroy. I bought a cute little dress for the holidays for my daughter, as well as a lovely sweater for the upcoming season. Their children's stuff isn't cheap, but it's not unreasonable for an independent children's store. I was really thankful that I found a place that sells clothing for children--in this case, holiday wear in particular--that is machine washable, because oftentimes children's clothing is marked as dry clean only (whyyyy). There is street parking in this area which can be limited, but I think there's also a Metra stop half a block away from the store.

I stumbled on the cutest children's boutique in Oak Park. Upstairs features smaller sizes (I saw…read moresizes up to 8, but mostly toddler sizes). Downstairs is "the vault", which features sizes up to 14/16 with sales up to 40% (maybe more depending on the time of the year). The vault is sectioned by sizes. At the bottom of the stairs is a clearance size with the discount percentage for the entire room. I visited in early October 2024 and there were many discounted spring/summer styles, with a few sweaters and sweatpants options. There's a couch in the middle of the floor to take a break or for your children so you can shop uninterrupted. The fitting room is upstairs toward the back of the store. Enjoy cute trinkets near the check-out register, plus the cutest wrapping paper that can be purchased. Sarah, the buyer and manager I believe, was so sweet and helped me hide some gifts from my daughter after she identified things she wanted. It's woman-owned, minority-owned and has a woman's boutique right next door, 16 suitcases.

The staff here said hi as I entered and then gave me the freedom to browse. Anyway, it's a lovely little store with some really nice things. It's not just a clothing store, which I appreciate. They do have clothing, but when I was here most of the merchandise was non-clothing; books, toys, games, and so on. The prices weren't super out of line with other children's stores around. The clothing is more on the expensive end--they don't really seem to sell mid-range stuff here. But it's high quality children's clothing (but do check labels--I've been to some children's stores where dry clean is recommended and that's not something I can justify for children's clothing, though I do forget to check the labels). I stopped in to see if I could find something for my friend's son for his birthday, but didn't find something that jumped out on me at this trip. I am not in Northfield very often, so it's not a shop that would be a place that I would just pop by. But if you're looking for something special or a nice gift it would be a good place to take a look.
