The problems were myriad, including: 1) A shoddy paint job showing a lack of attention to detail. As you can see from my attached photos, there were large splotches of mismatched colored walls in my closet, and a doorframe to one of my closets was obviously not painted carefully as evidenced by the poor finished product. Dried speckles of paint were sprinkled literally all throughout my apartment's floors. I spent well over 8 hours cleaning off all of the dried paint that these guys left behind on my apartment's floors, so they quite clearly do not cover the floors with any protective layer, nor do they demonstrate any care when doing the actual painting. 2) Garbage left in my sinks, and dried paint left behind all over my sinks and bath tubs. Totally understandable that these guys would wash their equipment in my apartment, but totally unacceptable for them to leave a mess of dried paint caked all over my sinks and bath tubs that I had to clean myself. 3) Poor communication and lack of follow up when these problems were brought to their attention. I sent numerous emails to Ben about these problems and gave him multiple opportunities to fix them, but he simply stopped returning the emails. Clearly, Ben and his company show little concern or care for ensuring customer satisfaction. All in all, I would absolutely NOT recommend hiring Ben and his crew for your next paint job. While they are definitely not the most expensive paint crew, the old adage 'you get what you pay for' is quite evident here. The shoddy craftsmanship, piss poor communication, general carelessness and inattention to detail, and disregard for customer satisfaction all add up to money that is most definitely not well spent here, and I would highly recommend NOT hiring Ben and his crew to paint your next project.

Upon reaching out to him (in the rare case he answered the phone) he was pretending to be nice but actually was not willing to come finish the job and kept postponing and then not answering the phone. We had to chase him down for more than two months and ended up giving up and hiring another contractor to finish the job.

The reviews turned out to be fairly accurate and I was glad that I chose him to be my contractor. It was refreshing to deal with a contractor who is a stand-up guy (his subcontractors said so as well which is always a good sign), provides good service (above and beyond) but also gets the job done. He and his workers did an excellent job installing flooring and painting in some rooms, redid a fireplace, and finished my garage. The work was stellar and he provided good guidance and suggestions along the way. I'm already looking to work on more projects with him.

I had a few too many drinks at Reservoir and locked myself out. I eventually rang the neighbors enough times for one to buzz me through the front door of the building (this was after I attempted to climb the alley gate). It was either sleep on the steps or bust down the door, so I did what I had to do. Next morning I woke up with a killer headache and a big problem to fix. The door frame was demolished and my cousin was heading back from Europe. I called several handymen but no one was up to the task. Lou came through in the clutch. Repaired the busted door frame, smoothed everything out, and perfectly matched the paint. My cousin would have never known, but I came clean. Marlon came to move an upstairs air conditioner to the first floor but discovered it would not fit in the window. Marlon offered some possible options. No charge for the visit even though I wanted to at least give him some gas money. I ordered a unit from the appliance store but they could not deliver for 2 days so I knew 2 tough, hot days were coming. I let Marlon know the situation and he offered to go pick up the unit at the store and install it the same day instead. I canceled the delivery immediately. As promised, Marlon came and did a quick installation, perfect job. As always the price was very fair.
