Visiting my cousin in the area, she suggested we eat from here, one of her spots she likes to go to. We ordered for pick up so we could eat and hang out at her house; so I don't really know how it is inside the actual restaurant. The person over the phone was nice and helpful though, and patient as it was my first time ordering from there. He said he even loved the spaghetti, which we are very particular about! We decided to come try it out this Thursday evening and had Carmen as our server. Boyfriend liked his seafood platter too. I almost forgot, we got cheese sticks as the appetizer and OMG! You have to get them. They were huge & so crunchy and the cheese was stringy and just delicious! We ordered a to go meal for tomorrow's lunch & we put in our free dessert bread pudding order. The bill came out before the dessert and to go food. We noticed we got charged for the bread pudding that was supposed to be free. The server was nice and went took it off. We sat and waited for to go food. Once it came out, we said our good byes, only to get home to see that the free dessert wasn't placed in our to go bag :( We were upset because we had 3 separate conversations with the waitress about the bread pudding; one showing her the coupon, one about it being on the bill, and one when to bring it with our to gos. This place has some hidden gems when it comes to certain dishes. The firecracker shrimp Po boy is a must, so freaking good. We had some of my husbands workers try it and they also agreed, the other item is their bread pudding or something like that. When we tried it, it was warm and it was the best dessert ever. The fried chicken bacon ranch wrap ( ranch on the side instead of in the wrap) the fried chicken tenders with bake beans, the blackened redfish ( highly seasoned but good), the stuffed tilapia, and the fried shrimp or fried shrimp wrap ( no bayou sauce bc it makes it too soggy). All of these are my go to items and are 90% good most of the time! I recently tried the bread pudding and ice box pie. I didn't care for the bread pudding at all but the ice box pie was delicious! Bayou Bistro has been on LA 1 in Brusly for as long as I can remember. Serving up great Cajun food and steaks. They also have a Cajun store up front where you can buy frozen gumbo, pepper jelly and seasonings and sauces and more. This is one of most favorite places to go for Catfish. They never use the belly meat which can taste muddy. They only use the best back fillet cuts of the fish. It is always cooked perfectly and is fresh. They offer a buffet 6 days a week feature this catfish and many other great items. My fav App from here is the Mozzarella Sticks. They make their own cheese in house and make HUGE Sticks out of it batter and fry it. Served with a great marinara sauce!! Be sure to try these!! Steaks here are also as good as you will find in any high end steak house. Try "Chuckie's ribeye"!! Another great dish is the Chicken and andouille pasta. Chicken is blackened up nicely and paired with penne pasta in a cream based sauce... MMMMMMM!!! really great! I stopped here because I heard an ad on the radio and I was starving. The deli entrance is in the front and the restaurant is in the back. It was around 4:45 when I arrived and the place is empty. I suppose the cars out front belong to employees. The Yelp offer says that you get a free dessert for checking in, but the lady in the deli checked with her manager who advised that is for dine-in only. No problem. I'm not in a rush. Plus, on their website, it says that if you get a half and half po-boy to-go it's $10.95, but that is incorrect. It's $12.95 no matter if it's dine-in or to-go. I ordered the fried eggplant parmesan appetizer. It had shrimp and sauce on top of 4 fried eggplant medallions of various size and thickness. The sauce is good, the shrimp is slightly overcooked, and I couldn't cut the eggplant with my fork, even one at a time. The crust on the eggplant was seasoned well, although it was a little greasy. I ate the skinny medallions, but I couldn't think about the two thicker ones because the eggplant was already a little tough. The half and half po-boy was delicious. I got shrimp and crawfish. It came with large, crinkle-cut well-seasoned fries and a pickle. I probably shouldn't have deviated from the game plan when I came in, which was to have a po-boy and dessert, or maybe I should have sent the eggplant back, but nobody likes that kind of customer - which is also part of the reason I ordered everything at once. For my free Yelp dessert, I had the bread pudding. It was DELICIOUS! That sucks they put on it was so yummy. I could have made a meal from the bread pudding alone. But I don't regret the po-boy at all. The total for everything was $25 before tip, so, $30. I noticed that they also have daily weeknight specials that go from 5pm - 9pm. On Feb. 14th at 10:30am I called to confirm my reservation to find out that is no reservation because the restaurant dining room is closed on Monday and Tuesday in which I was never told that when I made reservation on the 1st. I talked to Ashley (one of the owners) who said, I'm sorry for the mistake and that person is no longer employed there due to her mistakes and that she was going through life changes.
