So I've been here before but I didn't get to enjoy it, so after a few years I found myself with some free time to drive back out here and truly have company I could enjoy with. I'll start with the cons bc it's not that much- the line for seafood can get long bc of how the buffet is set up. If the ppl in front move along you can get through fast. If not you'll have a wait. Due to the location of the door and the hot food side a couple of flies might be trying to find their way in the door to get to a couple of the goods. Pros- seafood was plentiful and good. Crawfish could have used a little more spice but not bad at all. Snow crab were great. They also have Jonah crab but I don't eat those. Full seafood buffet on Saturday and if you don't want to wait too long, get there an hour before and join the waitlist on their website. Worth a drive down. Price wise for 2 with drinks cost 100 bucks so be prepared if bringing a large party. Can order off the menu as well. read more

This place was voted the best seafood buffet in Louisiana. I am seriously wondering who voted. This place is awful. The catfish is WAY TOO salty and I am a saltaholic. As salty as the catfish was the seafood dressing was just as sweet. The étouffée tastes like it came straight from a can or a military MRE. I don't like going on and on about how bad it is but it truly is that bad. So for something positive to say the Parker-house rolls and chocolate pie were good, the boiled shrimp were easy to peel, and they served Community Tea so that rates very high. Boiled shrimps and crabs were phenomenal. However, we traveled an hour and a half to come here. The website does not indicate or recommend you use waitlist. I did try much earlier than opening time and was not capable of doing so. Upon arrival, there's no signage to let you know the process of being waited on. This would have been nice. If you check inside to be seated, they do not know how to fit you in between the reservations. Not a great experience. We drove about 3 hours to visit this place. Came on a Saturday and got here about 4:15. They were starting to seat people fairly quickly. Not a huge seafood buffet, people come for the crab. Great place but when people are waiting for crab, you are going to wait a while. They would have so many people waiting that 3 or 4 people would get the crab and no one else would. It would also hold up the line for regular food. We finally just threw some crab on a plate and we're glad to get it. It was worth it though. I've been wanting to try this place for so long after I saw this place all over Facebook! I love AYCE snow crab legs! I decided to go for my birthday, but I called, the day before, to see what was on the buffet before I drove from Baton Rouge and because my sister flew in from VA to try it. We were told there would be snow crab legs on the buffet. We get there and no snow crabs! Our amazing server, Melinda (ask for her when you go) told us the snow crab legs were only on the weekends. #SuperSadNoSnowCrabBirthday Ok now that I got that out lol The food is delicious! It's a small buffet, but it has a lot of variety. If you love shrimp, this is the place! Every shrimp dish was the bomb.com. Especially the boiled shrimp. I love that they offer drumettes, which is different from most buffets. They didn't seem to offer a lot of kid options so that was a plus. I would come back again but probably around crawfish season or on a day with snow crabs because of the drive. The buffet is like $30 which is cheaper than L'Auberge! The food was too salty. It seemed to all be over cooked. The oysters were rock hard & the shrimp were mushy. We sampled several dishes & not one made us say, 'this is really good'. Even the corn on the cob was tough & didn't have a fresh good flavor. I'm sure it's the bagged frozen kind & we are way ok with that. We were just astounded that frozen corn on the cob could be messed up. We were there an hour before they opened because we'd heard that there would be a huge line. We drove 2+ hours to eat there. Drove from Lafayette and It's was all a waste. We went with a group of 7 people, two of which are in a Keto diet and couldn't eat anything on the buffet beside salad and boiled crab. They decided to order off the menu and everything they ordered was out of stock. When they finally received food it was roughly over an hour later and the rest of the group were done. The menus we're filthy with old mayo stuck to them. The ready of the group had the buffet and our table and the table behind us all had the same comment that the food wasn't as good as the picture online showed. It was a waste of time and money. first time going, not impressed. the new buffet line doesn't work. they said we don't need to wait inline just cut in line and grab what you want. so I am waiting for an entree behind 2 people who want the same item and then a lady just cuts in front of the person in front of me! where is that fair? also if you start on one side and work your way down the line your stopped half way because another line started on the opposite site. A guy I work with told me about this seafood restaurant. It's about an hour and a half drive from where I live, but it's definitely worth the drive! I took my wife here for her birthday. They have EVERYTHING! Crabs, crab legs, fried alligator, frog legs, fried shrimp, french fries, hush puppies, onion rings, wings, barbecue wings, crawfish étouffée, shrimp étouffée, seafood gumbo, desserts and so much more. Wonderful little road trip took us to this hidden gem! Seafood buffet is $25 and worth every penny. Fried fish, shrimp, chicken, sautéed shrimp, king crab claws, boiled crabs, stuffed crabs, shrimp gumbo, crawfish pasta, shrimp creole, fried frog legs, gumbo etc. There is a fried ball that we weren't quite sure but it tastes like a spicy buffalo ball. One interesting fact is that although they don't serve alcohol they allow you to bring in your own ice chest, which we did while listening to some good ole classic country music. I knew this restaurant when it first opened under different ownership and have not been disappointed in the food and very rarely in the service. It is a very popular place and if you want in when they open, you need to be there half a hour before they open the doors. Sadly, a recent one star evaluation came mostly through an over-sensitivity to harmless decorations on the wall. I am sorry, but saying anything about picking cotton is NOT racist. No one who has ever picked cotton has ever had a "cotton pickin' good time." Cotton pickin' season is summer and that is just too darned hot to have a good time (especially when, as I did, you get paid only 5 cents a pound - though that was about 60 years ago). Nothing about cotton is racist. Planting is not racist. hoeing is not racist (though nobody hoes cotton anymore), picking or selling cotton is not racist. It's called earning a living. Now. Why not just go inside, eat your meal, and talk about what really matters when it comes to a restaurant: the service, the food, and possibly the twenty people outside still waiting to get in, and leave the politics outside! read more

Took the family here tonight, it was pretty good food there was a good selection of food on the bar. The crawfish were small for this late in the season. It's not like there aren't rice fields on both sides of the highway. They were good though. There is NO ALCOHOL sold here! The description is wrong. All week long I've been looking forward to crawfish and beer! I was very disappointed to be told that they haven't sold anything since January. Place was busy and crowded. Make sure they seat you next to a wall not out in room or your table will be constantly bumped by people going back and forth to the buffet. Good clean bathrooms got to love that. My husband's boss has taken us here to celebrate our wedding, and, more recently, to celebrate our move to the big city. Cajun Catfish is every seafood lover's dream. They have a large selection of many types of delectable, fried treats. The fried shrimp is incredible and the fried whole catfish falls right off of the bone. The etoufees are well-seasoned and you can taste the buttery richness of the peach cobbler. Forget your diet while going here! Also, if you are on a special diet (like other reviewer below who did not do their research and want to blame the restaurant for their oversight) watch out. Everything is battered and fried in flour and/or cornmeal. There is a small salad bar, but I wouldn't want to count on it as a full meal.
