I'm just traveling here for work and this place is right by my hotel so I went here to grab lunch. They opened at 10:30 and I got there at 10:50 so the food was hot and fresh. I did get it to go with the largest sweet tea I've ever been handed with a take out meal. I knew I had to get some pictures of the buffet because the ones on here currently were from several years back. They aren't hurting for business because the day before I went at 12 and couldn't find a parking spot and today when I went early, there were 8 people walking in as I was leaving. YIKES!! Our family of 3 walked in on a Friday evening around 7pm. The place was empty. We were 1 out of 2 tables. The food selection was not good. The food looked like it had been sitting out for hours not being stirred, refreshed, or refilled. The servers even looked defeated.. We each had 1 plate and left with an ice cream sandwich... so sad because the Google reviews seemed better. We were actually so sad to see this place so ran down with nobody in sight. read more

I eat here often since I work in the area, and felt that this little place really isn't getting the credit it deserves. Is it the BEST buffet you've ever had? No. Are you looking for great sushi? This isn't your place. They suffered a big kitchen fire a couple of years ago, and after came COVID. So, they haven't quite bounced back completely yet. Used to be that all three hot tables and one cold table were filled and the Mongolian grill was operating. Since the pandemic, there are two hot tables operating and the Mongolian grill hasn't opened back up. So, understand what you are getting. The pricing is very reasonable, IMO, especially since I drink water and not soft drinks/tea. The staff is super nice, and one of the owners knows me and asks about my family when I come in. Some days, they are a little short handed (because like everyone else right now, they're trying to hire waitstaff) and so drink refills and tickets can be slow...but the staff is running their tails off and for the most part, doing a great job. I personally love their food, but I don't eat seafood at a buffet...and definitely not sushi. Used to be they had an entire hot table full of seafood options. I hope for the seafood lovers, they bring that back. I really miss their grill the most, though! Food is always hot and fresh during the lunch rush. If you show up at 2:00 pm I can't promise you what it'll look like, but your expectations of any buffet in a small strip mall shouldn't be high at that time of day anyway. Nothing tastes prepackaged except the desserts. I generally just enjoy a mini ice cream sandwich and leave it at that. The buffet was pretty small without many offerings. The salt and pepper frog legs were easily the best thing. Many of the items, though, weren't very appetizing. I went in the mindset of it being an all you can eat buffet for under $10 and that's about the quality you can expect. Most of the Chinese dishes were bland or over salted. The sushi rolls were about a 7/10 in taste and quality. The soups were decent, I've had worse at normal Chinese takeout spots. It's a cheap Chinese buffet in a tiny strip mall. So go with moderate expectations and you won't be disappointed. The place is small for alot of the Chinese buffet you see these days, but the selection is good. Lots of choices, mainly Chinese. Which is good in my opinion. I don't go to a Chinese buffet for pizza or chicken nuggets or fish sticks. There is a hibachi grill options as well. Nice selection of the basics needed to create your own stir fry. It's a decent size place. I'm not sure how long it's been opened, but the choices of the buffet are very limited, even for the hibachi grill. I'm not disappointed because after reading the previous reviews, I expect way worse. It turns out not that bad at all. There are couple dishes that stand out. Their hot n sour soup satisfies my taste buds well. I like their BBQ ribs. Actually, I cleared the whole rack. Their fried chicken is absolutely fine. Food wise, the dishes aren't the best, but absolutely edible. I wouldn't call them disgusting. Certain things though: the hibachi grill's displays of raw ingredients kind of make me question how long have they been out? Maybe they should ice them better? Several trays of foods are warm, not hot. By the time I get back to my table, some components on my plate are warm, some are room-temperature. Looking pass all the foods, the service is spot on. As soon as I push a plate out to the end of the table, our server comes by to pick it up right away. In the near future, I hope they expand the buffet a little bit more, and pay more attention to the trays as they become warm and not hot. read more

My husband and I were in the mood for Chinese and decided to try Tang Buffet in Gonzales. Am I glad we did! The food and the service were amazing. I filled my plate high, trying as much as would fit. I figured I would not like a few things and would still have plenty to eat. However, I loved everything and made a happy plate! I was stuffed, but managed to find room for crab rangoons with their delicious red sauce. That was SO GOOD! My husband had a plate of fruit for desert, but decided to go back for the crab rangoons after watching me devour mine. I never saw him enjoy a desert like that! You should try Tang Buffet! It's actually difficult to start this because I was so shocked that everything on the buffet and I mean everything was fresh, seasoned well and tasty. And the constant wide eyes, smiley faces, and omgs from my fiance confirmed that he felt the same. I quite honestly can't remember the last time I went to a Chinese buffet and every single entree was made hot off the grill, and cooked in the last 5 minutes. So let me try and start with some things that I felt were excellent. I was excited to see that crab legs we're being replenished every single time it was almost empty. The crab legs were perfectly cooked seasoned well & recently made. I was even shocked that the egg rolls were crispy, crunchy & piping hot. The honey shrimp is amazing & the fried rice, yes something as simple as rice was seasoned well and tasty. The sushi is good but not the best, but seriously who comes to a Chinese buffet for sushi and if they do this will suffice. The grill was excellent I nearly cleared my fiance's plate. The sesame chicken and the orange chicken was very good. The chicken and broccoli was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. This is my new spot to come to and these folks will not be able to get rid of me. The service was excellent and the waitstaff kept our drinks refilled and the buffet full. You get so much more then what you pay for at this place. You should certainly dine here tonight. read more

Tang Buffet is our favorite Chinese buffet in the area. We usually go 1 time per week. If you like shrimp and crawfish, they are expertly cooked. Everything is properly prepared. They do not overload the hot table, so everything is freshly put out and hot. The ribs are one of my favorites, as well as the sautéed string beans and the peel and eat shrimp. The service is excellent, and when we arrive, the staff knows what we drink and in seconds our drinks are on the table. Ask for Angela or Cindy to take care of your table. We've tried this place twice... It's clean and the service is good. Food is ok, I agree with other poster there are too many that are fried. All the dishes we tried were very fresh, unbelievable variety, too much to mention here, but will say they had lots of fresh shrimp, crawfish, and other Seafood in addition to tradtional Chinese. The price was super reasonable, although this is a buffet, we took ours to go, and they price by the pound, so we got a lot for our money! Noticed their billboard on I-10 heading to New Orleans. Decided to check it out. It is a new restaurant and typical of the sushi/hibachi style. The buffet was well attended and kept fresh. The food was tasty and above standard like most others. The hibachi, crawfish and shrimp were especially good. The sushi was quiet good. The dinner prices were very reasonable.
