I personally visited this office at 9509 US-42, Suite 204 in Prospect, KY on Friday December 6, 2024. I was surprised to find a vacant office space and locked door. A business neighbor in the building reported that the Company had been evicted from the building. Accordingly, while I have given only one star in order to be able to post a comment on YELP, this is not actually a genuine rating, just a comment on the Company based upon my personal visit at its posted location on YELP. Steve is the man. Great to have him right down the street for tech emergencies. I was having computer issues and consider myself a pretty tech savvy guy. Steve solved it in and his rates are super competitive for his skill set. Recently, my wife's business hard drive stopped working which had a ton of important data. It was a no brainer going to Steve. He worked with her and got all the data recovered. Recommend him to everyone. I plan on using Steve next time I have computer trouble or purchasing a new PC. read more

I can't recommend this business more highly. I have had mixed experiences with various tech support companies in the past, but these guys are completely on top of it. They were EXTREMELY thorough--even after they had correctly diagnosed the actual issue with my PC they made sure to check everything else out that they thought could possibly be a problem, ensuring the issue was definitely addressed, giving me total peace of mind that I wouldn't be back again with a "half-fixed" PC (which is an experience I've had other places). They took the time to answer all of my questions very patiently, and gave me a full rundown in layman's terms of everything so I could make sense of it all. They went out of their way to correspond and finish my service very promptly, and they are even able to follow up by accessing your machine with Remote Assist if they need to follow up on your service-- very convenient, very streamlined process they have set up. On top of that, they made additional recommendations (outside of my service needs) for how I could optimize my PC and they were right on the money! That's perhaps the most important point--these guys definitely know what they're doing, in a field that has more than a few poseurs running around. Last but not least, I felt that they were way more than fair when it came to pricing. This will be an extremely in-depth review of my experience with the owner of Louisville Computer Repair, Steve Richardson, and his employee and technician, Carmen. My review centers around the professionalism of the owner and the integrity of his technician, and is based on my interactions with them at their store. The following is a summary of my review, with details, and picture evidence, to follow soon. Although I do not have a basis to gauge his technological/computer knowledge or competence, Carmen, when alone, was welcoming, professional, and eager to help. However, his integrity is a liability! Upon accidentally damaging the product (video game controller) that I brought in for modification (replacement of functional thumbstick module with a newer one), Carmen outright lied to the owner about the initial condition of the product. He further claimed that I had told him that the product was broken when I initially brought it. He repeated these lies in the presence of the owner when I went to go pick up my newly-damaged product. I have a voicemail from him, admitting that he broke the product, which I will post in my full review. He appeared visibly shaken when I went into the store as the owner was sitting adjacent to him. My interaction with them included additional blatant lies and misrepresentations by Carmen (see detailed review). I am also unable to grade the owner, Steve, on his technological expertise or competence. However, in my interaction with Steve, he was extremely unprofessional, argumentative, deceitful, and a pseudo-intellectual. During my first, and only, interaction with him, he began by making false claims about the product's initial condition, conjuring up rules and regulations (an intimidation tactic, I suppose), mentioning that the product was not stock and that I did not warn them (as if I was there for warranty-related work; and not only did Carmen and myself have a lengthy conversation about the product's modified condition, I stood there with him and helped him take the product apart to work on it), and then proceeded to threaten me by claiming to have recorded the phone conversations between myself and Carmen (which actually would be legal in KY, even without my consent). The entire conversation was no longer than 3 minutes, and for the most part was civilized, without any individual resorting to the use of profanity. Within literally 3 minutes of not being able to converse on the basis of logic and facts, and realizing that "big words" were not having their intended effect, he appeared frustrated. When asked for a copy of my signed Terms of Agreement (TOA) form, he quickly lost his composure, handed me a blank TOA form, walked over to the main door and stated "this is a lawful order to leave." He repeated that phrase twice, in succession, and I made my way out of the door, without resisting. My only reply to him was "you'll be hearing from me," to which he jabbed back by saying, "I look forward to it." His defensive/argumentative stance, from the moment I walked in, was a preemptive attempt made out fear of me wanting compensation for the accidental damage. All I expected was honesty, and maybe a small apology, and I would have been content. I am a physician in Louisville, and as physicians, we make frequent unintentional mistakes, and at times, blunders. Patients are usually always understanding and forgiving of mistakes when you are open and truthful with them; and we appreciate that! As such, I am accepting of unintentional mistakes, as long as one takes responsibility for them. ESPECIALLY, when it's just a just a freaking video game controller! Overall, Louisville Computer Repair may still be a great place to take your minor computer-related products/issues. I cannot grade their tech expertise or the competitiveness of their prices. However, I would HIGHLY discourage trusting them with expensive/valuable electronic equipment. There are several local alternatives to this store, with some listed in my detailed review. Local small businesses, such as Louisville Computer Repair, are the backbone of the U.S. economy, and should be supported. However, irrespective of the size, all business entities must be held to a certain level of integrity and ethics. As someone with a business degree from the University of Kentucky, I am extremely dissatisfied with the integrity of Louisville Computer Repair's owner and technician and disappointed with their unethical behavior model towards consumers. HANDS DOWN the best experience I've ever had with a local business owner. Upon calling Steve about a sluggish laptop repair, he was quick and very eager to help me in my situation! While the laptop was at his office and under his care, we decided to upgrade the hard drive to a ssd and take the laptop from 8 to 16gb of ram. He did a fresh install of windows 10. Steve was more than willing to work with me in all aspects and actually feel like I have a new friend out of the exchange. He was quick to repair and focused everything on me and it felt great as a customer. My laptop has been given new life and Runs Amazing now! He also does commercial and residential installs and repair/maintenance for file servers and power over Ethernet security cameras! I'll most definitely use Steve to install these in my home in the near future! Best of All? The Price! Not only do you feel comfortable with him having your laptop or computer, you can also rest assured that everything he does is EXTREMELY reasonable and quite cheaper than I had expected. I WILL NOT go anywhere else when I need a repair or cameras installed! Do yourself a Giant favor(you'll thank me later) and take your computer here! Steve Richardson, and Carmen are by far the most helpful people I have ever encountered in my exhausting search for a knowledgeable professional. As a female, I am especially frustrated at the lack of respect. Not for one second did Steve or his team make me feel embarrassed or belittled by my lack of knowledge at explaining my issue. I have a MSI and after hours upon hours of time spent with MSI customer service, being hung up on, and finally directed just to mail the computer in so they could "take a look", we desperately found Steve. He immediately took our call and began his confident reassurance. Since then he has helped us with multiple issues, spending hours on the phone and in person making sure we were satisfied and our issued were resolved. The team he has in his office stepped up and worked together and seamlessly provided a complete scope of repair for our software issues. He even recommended bringing the computer in when the whole team was in office so everyone could work together combining knowledge and expertise for our complex issue. We have spent thousands at Geek Squad, with no resolve. Their answer: we will just mail you in a new computer. Well, that's not the answer when your entire life is on a computer. We are a FOREVER customer at Louisville Computer Repair. I will put my name on the line and vouch for this company, Steve and Carmen.
