Well, that's the feeling I got when I visited Winthrop Mountain Sports during the recent Winthrop Quilt Roundup. I had never visited before, but it was a stop on the event passport so I popped in. Wow, what a GREAT place! First of all, they have way more than backpacking equipment. From stylish outdoorsy clothes to all sorts of hats, gloves, shoes, water bottles, and other must-have PNW-esque accessories, I could easily have outfitted myself for everything from a day hike up the Methow to an expedition down the PCT. They are also dog-friendly, allowing my friend's dog to wander the store with us (and even sneaking him a treat from behind the counter). Even if you're not outdoorsy, there's something you need in this shop. I ended up buying some road trip snacks for the journey home.

Everybody was very nice and helpful. Also as a solo woman I've had lots of bike shops treat me like an idiot/make me feel like I don't belong, and they made me feel super welcome, gave great ride recs, and even gave me tips for things to try with my personal bike back home. Seriously a highlight of my quick trip! Oh and the bike was awesome, and 80$ for full suspension for a day is even cheaper than the shops back home in OR.

There are no lifts but they do have rope tows and one circle disk to sit on (sorry, don't know the name of it) kinda like a lift. The hours are limited so call to confirm. We were greeted upon entering and the staff was both helpful and laid-back. I especially loved the sale table out front, and even spotted a few deals inside as well. While I didn't end up purchasing anything - because I wasn't in need of anything - I did notice their prices were reasonable, and they carried a great variety of brands, including a few I hadn't seen before. Also, a huge shoutout to the staff for letting me use the restroom - such a kind and appreciated gesture when you're out and about in a remote area. If you're in need of outdoor gear, clothing, or trail essentials, chances are this shop will have what you're looking for. It's definitely worth a stop if you're passing through Mazama or prepping for an adventure in the North Cascades!

We were looking for a fun adventure that the whole family could enjoy. My son had just turned 10…read moreand wanted to take one of his school buddies with him. We read the reviews online and called them to book our adventure. We were treated with kindness and respect from the time that we got there. We signed the requisite waivers and were told that the rapids head tamed down to class three which was very manageable and safe for the family. They outfit you with wet suits and boots and it's suggested that you bring your own hats, sunglasses and sunscreen. Our guy took the time to get to know all the folks that were in our group and arranged us in the raft, according to our age and abilities. My son and his friend sat towards the back of the raft, which turned out to be the safest and driest location. After a short walk-through of expectations and paddling instruction, we got underway. Smooth sailing for the 1st mile or so, and then we hit our first group of rapids. The guy did an outstanding job of keeping us afloat and telling us which side to paddle aggressively, and which side to back off on. Throughout the day, this continued and we hit several more aggressive rapids that were challenging, but a lot of fun. Photographers are located throughout the course and will get some great pictures of your group as you head down the river. They are available for purchase at the end. Overall, a great experience and a great day with osprey rafting company. Highly recommended!

My family and I were treated with respect and attention to detail in the customer service received was excellent, even going out of their way to place phone calls to verify operation hours for the day for us on the hill. We will definitely recommend this location to all of our family and friends and will be stopping by again next time we are in the area. They do rental tubings in the summer to River flow and snow supplies in the winter for the nearby ski hill.
