I stumbled upon this place my first day in Montreal and couldn't have been more pleased with my decision to walk in. The aesthetic is so cute with the green and beige accents. The staff was also super friendly and recommended some options for our brunch. We ordered the coconut curry, mushroom crostini, and shakshuka. I really enjoyed the coconut curry and mushroom crostini. They both had quite a bit of flavour and were beautifully plated. The shakshuka was incredibly bland and miss for me. I did enjoy the way the tofu was done for the crostini and shaksuka though. Would definitely come back here again to try some of the other dishes especially the vegetarian ones which were pretty egg heavy for brunch. read more

We came to Lov McGill to continue our weekend celebration of our anniversary. The atmosphere and ambience as you enter is relaxed, bright, and chill. We were greeted warmly and sat down at a lovely table. The service was great here and very attentive and kind. Food was delicious as were the non alcoholic beverages. We started with the calamari made from hearts of palm. These were delicious although they did not have the same chewy texture of traditional calamari. The dipping sauce was amazing. I had the fish tacos which I would get on repeat they were so delicious. The perfect combo of crunch and softness with an amazing slaw. My husband had the truffle burger and fries and was enjoying every bite. This is THE best vegan restaurant we've tried in Montréal. We ate brunch and lived the vegan eggs Benedict and shakshuka! We returned for dinner and feasted on 4 different starters just to try more. We LOVE Lov! This was our second visit, and just like the first about a year ago, our meal was simply sublime. We appreciated the excellent service and the light, airy, plant-filled decor. We went for a family lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the offerings. The menu is completely vegetarian and many of the dishes are vegan. The French onion soup was a delightful interpretation with a beer broth loaded with onions accompanied by a thick slice of bread covered with gooey melted cheese on the side. The coconut curry was delicious -- a combination of stewed lentils served with a vegetable medley and turmeric rice. I have been to this location a few times and they never cease to amaze me, as they update their menu regularly. I love the design of the restaurant, combination of modern and contemporary decorations which makes it suitable for dates, friends and also business gatherings. So far, I have tried their Salmon Tartare, Lasagna, LOV Bagel and burgers and all have been very delicious and perfectly served. Stopped by LOV McGill during a recent trip to Montréal and was pleasantly surprised. I had the house-made vegan burger--not your typical Impossible or Beyond patty, which was a nice change. Flavorful, satisfying, and held together well. Definitely a solid choice if you're looking for a good plant-based burger. Highly recommend going with the sweet potato fries over the regular ones--they're crispier and have way more flavor. We liked it enough to come back a second time. So much fried food options, what gives? Psuedo cheese is not healthy either. I should have looked at the menu more closely before selecting this place as I strive to find quality healthy food. Ok cute restaurant - very charming but the food was terrible. Liked the cauliflower. But the mushroom truffle risotto was just awful. Very bland like no flavor at all and it felt undercooked. We asked the server and he said he will get it redone, but they clearly just warmed up our plate and reserved it to us - still undercooked btw. The dumplings were also extremely bland but atleast the sauce it was served with made it a bit palatable. Ordered a crème de la creme and it taste like milk. Alex and the rest of the staff of LOV McGill are truly outstanding at what they do: make their guests feel at home (even on a busy night), explain the menu, which consists of incredible food, but much of which some diners may have never had the chance to try, and really work well together in a sort of beautiful synergy. And that is just the staff alone. The restaurant itself is very modern and sleek, while the food is fresh, delicious, and inspiring, and most importantly vegan. Got a reservation at 7:15pm on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. There was still some space inside so we got seated pretty quickly. Really love the outside decor and the inside felt like I was entering an oasis. Service was really quick and servers were attentive throughout the night. Menu was through a QR code though the alcohol/drinks menu is a physical copy. Ordered the leaf mocktail and it had a slight kick but was still super refreshing. Really delicious drink. Tried out the wood mocktail and it was really grapefruit forward. For food, got the kimchi fries, salted ricotta starter, crispy mushroom burger (+ friend got the tacos), & poached pear for dessert. Kimchi fries had wakame sprinkled on top. So good. Wasn't too spicy and the fries were nice and salty. The salted ricotta with toasted bread and broccolini was also good but towards the end the vegan ricotta did split a little. The crispy mushroom burger had a really delicious fried batter. The mushroom itself could have been seasoned a bit more but the batter was flavorful. Burger held up to the sauce and the salad wasn't too overwhelmed by the dressing (which sometimes happens with a vinaigrette). The poached pear was good but it should have been poached a little bit longer as it was difficult to slice with the spoon. Chocolate sauce and candied walnuts were a nice touch though. Overall, a really lovely place to be on a Friday night. Would be interested in trying some other items on the menu. read more

The food, drinks, and service here were all very good, but I unfortunately have to give 2 stars because we saw a mouse running up and down a pipe on the wall behind our table a few times. He was very cute and even stopped for a while to stare at us. The server was apologetic and moved us, and said the manager offered us a dessert on the house, but I get the impression that the manager didn't really seem bothered by it because they didn't speak with us directly. That makes me think mice must be regular customers in this restaurant. Upon searching reviews it does seem like this isn't the first appearance of a mouse. I live in a busy city so I understand that there will be rodents around, but I've never seen one inside, especially so close to customers before...makes me concerned about the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. read more

We found LOV as our children couldn't agree on type of food and Lov could cater for both. staff was friendly despite they were very busy and didn't have enough waiting staff, great variety of food items especially if one had dietary restrictions such as gluten/wheat free, vegan. We loved all the food we had and even the kids ate sufficient, however a children's menu would be a great addition to make it easier for all to enjoy. NOT Vegan, very misleading. I travel frequently for work and look forward to trying ethical and local eats on my numerous trips. I read such positive reviews of LOV McGill in Montreal but was treated badly there. The short version is that it is no longer a vegan restaurant, despite many past positive reviews. The long version is that they refused to take my credit cards and I ended up paying over double price in cash. I offered many alternative payments to compromise, hoping to keep my only cash on hand for the remainder of my work travels and definitely did not want to leave without paying but they would not agree to anything I offered. There was no mention of this strict payment policy anywhere on their website or on the numerous posts I searched on Happy Cow and Fb prior to walking 20 minutes from my conference site to eat there. I was in Montreal for just two days without issue regarding my credit cards and Apple Pay. Perhaps they have a special policy for tourists from certain regions, one could speculate. If this was one of the best meals of my life, it would be slightly less bitter. But, it was terrible, salty, greasy, and bizarre. Calamari and mushroom crostini, i am baffled by the poor execution of each if these dishes. I have not felt well since my visit. Honestly ranks as one of the most disappointing and overpriced dining experiences I have ever had. They have a lot to learn about serving good food. My boyfriend and I were visiting Montréal and were thrilled to discover LOV McGill a few blocks from our hotel. We ate there Thursday evening after checking into our hotel" We enjoyed a Forest Crostini, toasted bread with mushrooms as a starter and then got our entrees. As is sometimes the case, I liked my boyfriend's mushroom risotto more than my mushroom "burger" (fried oyster mushrooms), and he liked mine, so we switched. It's also not uncommon for us to switch dishes while we're eating. I also appreciate that they have lovely creative mocktails since I avoid alcohol. We enjoyed our experience so much we made reservations then and there for Sunday so we could have a quick brunch before we had to leave for the airport. For brunch, I got the tofu benedict, which was pretty good if a bit unusual. The vegan benedicts I've had before usually scramble the tofu but LOV used breaded and sliced tofu instead. My boyfriend got the Lux Bagel that oddly had lemon slices on it (I would expect lemon to be on the side to make it easy to squeeze over the dish). I think my favorite part of brunch was the perfectly cooked home fries made of potatoes grown in Québec. I don't know when I'll get back to Montréal, but when I do, I plan to go back to LOV. read more

We especially liked the "fried calamari" which is fried palm hearts. The only surprise was the vegetable soup of the day--we thought it would've been a veloute but nope, it was just a thin broth with sliced carrots in it. Overall great meal at LOV McGill. The atmosphere is amazing - so bright and cheery. The main door is adorned with flowers outside which helps make the place stand out from other buildings, and inside the bright white brick walls/ceiling really pop with rattan chandeliers! For our meal we started with and split the "Salmon" tartare which was amazing - I could not even tell it was vegan salmon! The avocado mash and chips were super flavorful. For my main I had the California Bowl which was Mexican-flavor inspired and had really tasty vegan "Carne Asada" that I could barely tell was not real meat. My partner had the Truffle Burger with the "beef" patty which he said was tasty, but as a non-vegan he could taste the difference vs. real beef. For dessert we had to have the creme brulee as I have never had a DF version before and it was super flavorful, the only downfall was that it was not warm all the way through as the center was still cold. This was disappointing as the restaurant was not full on a Tuesday night so it was not as if the kitchen was overloaded. We were seated in the front right hand corner which is inherently a little darker and we were also right under the AC unit which made things a little cold. There was 1 wait staff member who was doing everything - seating, bussing, serving, taking orders, setting tables, etc. which lead to a little bit of a wait to order/get our food. She was very nice, but we could tell she was overwhelmed. During my visit, I experience good customer service; employees are patient helping me navigate Vegan options of the dessert menu (my only reason for visiting the eatery). The Brownie tastes decent, each bite better with the Québec Berry Coulis, each bite with the vanille ice cream is more filling than without though I eat the ice cream (really like ice and cream) before leaving with leftovers (which taste good the following day for breakfast). The Brownie is an employee's recommendation to me as a dessert with a lesser amount of sugar (if not the least amount of sugar) on the establishment's menu. My cousin booked this restaurant on the recommendations from friends as I am WFPB... I hate dragging folks who are not vegan to these types of restaurants but the menu was promising. As a caveat, my cousin's family doesn't go to many restaurants these days as the service is generally awful since covid. LOV also lived up to that promise. Our server was very nice, but the place is completely understaffed. We didn't even get any water until 30 mins after sitting down. Calamari and a salad and one wine were off the menu. Food wise when it finally came over an hour later was mostly meh. The kimchi fries seemed like they were probably sitting too long in the kitchen before delivery, and I could say the same for my risotto. My cousin's husband got the burger, and I saw him snacking a ton when we got home, because I think the portions weren't overly robust. The restaurant did comp our desserts for 5 of us because the service was so slow. My recommendation is to not take as many reservations if they can't accommodate that many guests. The pairing of the dishes was a bit bizarre, with poutine and onion rings at the end. MUST HAVE'S: Pea quinoa cake - light and airy full of spring flavors from little peas. Well-executed and delightful. SOLID: gazpacho - typical standard fare Cari cacao - rice with curry carrot, squash, kale, and cashew. Comfort food. Good to share. SKIP: Fried onion rings - the onion rings are too thick and big and the the fried dough around the onion rings was not crispy. Vegan poutine - this one was sweet potato fries with soy sauce-based gravy and tofu like imitation cheese on top. The alteration from the real poutine was disappointing. We wished that we just order sweet potato fries on its own instead. Gnocchi - pesto gnocchi on a bed of arugula. The combination of the ingredients didn't quite make sense. This place was absolutely exceptional. I've heard from Olivia Wilde forever ago how amazing Montréal is for vegan food. I knew that was a priority when we decided to come to MTL for a quick weekend getaway. LOV is a formidable contender on both yelp and Google searches. We made a reservation at the most convenient time available at late notice: 9pm. After a few pregame drinks, we arrived to find a mostly full restaurant, even at that hour on a Saturday night. The menu is outrageous. After some deliberation, we arrived at our selections. I guess it was busy enough that our server kept us waiting to order for a hot minute. Another server either by pure observational skills or bc they overheard me express my impatience, came over to take our orders. For drinks I ordered the lilikoi with tequila, passion fruit, mango, lime, and pistachio. Tina ordered a Moscow mule. Hers was standard, nothing special, but mine was AMAZING. I would've ordered another one if I had the opportunity. For our actual meal, I absolutely had to try vegan poutine. It's listed a side, so don't experience the wave of terror that I went through after I couldn't find it in the appetizers. This frankly was one of the best things I have ever had the pleasure of placing on the tiny tongue protrusions that make up my taste buds. The "gravy" is incredibly flavorful, so much so that I scooped up the remnants with my fork afterwards. The cheese curds were not as satisfying as real cheese obviously but did the trick. The fries were crisp. I would eat this way too often if I lived in MTL. We ordered the banh mi burger and the gnocchi di casa for our mains. The burger was INCREDIBLE. The tofu was thick, breaded and flanked with slaw. An explosion of flavors. The gnocchi was tasty as well. I detected a slightly nutty tone. They were engulfed in a delicious pesto sauce and dusted with parm. This place has amazing food. I LOVed this place (sorry, how can you not). I'm normally not a vegan fan, but you could never tell this place is vegan. All the food is super healthy while still managing to be super tasty. I ordered the gnocchi and it might've been the best gnocchi I've ever had, even compared to others that have had actual cheese. It was incredible. The smoothies were decent, and the coffee offerings were great. The service staff were awesome--super friendly and ready to assist however they could. We never felt rushed, but only felt welcomed. What can I say? Visiting Montreal for the first time this weekend and was so excited to try an incredible concept of local, organic and vegan food. As a vegetarian, I had high hopes. We got the soup of the day, mushroom scallops, kimchi fries, the cheeseburger, mushroom burger and "spicy" tacos. The soup was luke warm and had zero flavor- it was like eating baby food. The kimchi fries were not even in the slightest spicy and honestly didn't really taste like kimchi! Cheeseburger and mushroom "scallops" was the only thing with some flavor. The mushroom burger on the other hand was more fried batter than mushroom. Over fried and the burger was so dry. Now the "spicy" tacos? It was burnt on the bottom and absolutely flavorless. The tofu was soggy and the guacamole was flavorless. We asked for extra aioli, that never arrived. We wanted mocktails, they were all out! Instead was recommended a lemonade which was so overpowered by a strong ginger flavor! It was so difficult to drink it.
