Disclaimer: I am a Y employee of the main Y organization. For this review purpose I am any other…read morenew mom, paying parent of the day care. And yes, I give it 5 stars. Here's why: 1: location - I'm a 5 min drive away from home/15 min walk and 10 min drive from work. It matters. A lot! Carrying 3+ bags everyday: purse, lunch, pump, diaper bag, big baby in carrier, you know sometimes I stop home first to drop it off before picking him up, and I still hate getting up early, and babies make you late to everything, so it's good to be close. (Little after the Thayer/Hope Split- parking is on the street, so not great, but always find a spot) 2: great staff: even as technical co-employees, I had never been to the site prior to needing childcare, I had just met the director. But being there as a mom, it doesn't matter if we work for the same org or not, I want a great, safe, caring place for my kid- which this place is at every turn. I've been a Y girl for 14+ years all around New England, so I knew there were good odds, that's what we do, but not everywhere is great honestly. However, the director and the infant staff are fantastic (I haven't met the toddler or preschool staff yet) 3. Cloth diapers: yes, I'm that girl with the cloth diapers and the glass bottles. All were welcome and not a problem. I know especially the cloth isn't welcome everywhere. Don't know why, I'm the one dealing with the poop at home.

We could never say enough good about East Side Nursery School. Their approach to children's…read moresocial-emotional development is as close to perfect as any will ever be. They show deep understanding of their students' individual needs and consistently treat them all with immense care and compassion. My children adore all three of their teachers. While the warm, caring environment is where ESNS shines in our eyes, the way they teach students is also remarkable. Many schools learn through play on paper, many learn to play in action as well, and do a great job of "tricking" kids into learning. Somehow though, ESNS tricks me, too. I rarely see the academics happening and suddenly my child comes home and knows how to write his name and his brother is telling me which two words rhyme. Their learning through authentic play, wholesome approach to teaching critical social-emotional skills, and opportunity for students to build advocacy and have choice are among the many reasons East Side Nursery School has been so fantastic for our family.

When it came time for our 3 yo to go to school, she was a bit nervous and COVID had limited her social interactions. Once she got to school, however, she thrived. The teachers at ESNS are fabulous. They meet each child where they are at and allow kids to be kids, all while somehow teaching them about art and music, science and reading. They are patient and dedicated and committed to caring for each child as an individual. We are thrilled with the way this school allows our child to be herself while supporting her growth!

They make accommodations for every child's needs. My daughter has been going here for almost a year and I can't imagine her going anywhere else. They also are truly amazing teachers. My daughters language skills have improved tenfold since she began attending and her personality and social skills continue to grow and improve each day with the help of all of the amazing people working here. Enrolling here was one of the best decisions I've made for my daughter!

They have provided a loving, trustworthy, thoughtful, and educational environment. Staff make it a point to learn about each child and create lasting relationships. It truly feels like "the neighborhood daycare/early childhood center" that so many caregivers wish for and for that, I have so much gratitude. As a parent, the last I want is to worry about my child when I drop them off. Never have I been worried about leaving my child there. Regarding the building, it's clean, safe with a security door, and a fenced play yard away from the busy street. they follow the public school curriculum. The teachers are wonderful. The director is amazing. If your child goes to DECC, you're one of the lucky ones.

The staff are really nice here + the facilty is recently renovated + looks pretty good. It is a bit small + quaint... + well lets be honest.... a little overpriced now a days with all these $10/month gyms. I joined because of the classes. The classes are OK--- belly dancing is fun... but i didn't break a sweat! there is a great bootcamp class on Monday nights. Wish it was more than once a week! I also wish that they had classes starting around 5:30pm more often for people who work in the area that want to get the gym out of the way right after work or lunch time classes. The classrooms are really small so they can get packed-- HOLY YOGA SPOON FEST. so cramped but that is because the instructor is really great. The spinning room is also VERY VERY SMALL and cramped. They are trying their best with the space they have. They work out area is small + a lot of the equipment is on its way out. they do have some newer ellipticals + treadmills with tvs on them if that's yo thang! If you need a lil local gym time, this is your kinda place!

Other gyms have always made me feel awkward and unwelcome, but this place is very inviting and I enjoy it. There are 5 swim lanes and I've never seen the pool super crowded. It's clean, there are swim props, and the locker rooms are fine. I just wish the swim schedule posted online was accurate. I usually grab a print out schedule when I remember or call to ask about open lanes -- but it'd be easier if it was updated online.
