The owner of this salon, Joyce, is amazing! I had been going to her for years to do laser on my lower face and neck. My skin transformed and i didn't have to wear as much make up because my black spots/ acne scars had become very light! She is very talented and takes pride in what she does. She is the only one that does the laser treatments, so her prices do reflect that but it's still very reasonable. I would highly recommend her for people of color. With every session there has been an issue from her running late to me being left in the room alone for ages waiting for treatment to start after getting undressed. Very often, during the grimer days of the pandemic, she would not even be at her space yet, so I was forced to wander around outside with nowhere to go and nothing to do with everywhere in NYC utterly shut down as I waited for her to arrive. Today was my last treatment but the final straw. I showed up on time and she was still in a session. Then I realized the other woman in the waiting area was also waiting for a session and was scheduled before me. When Joyce came out, she acted like waiting was fine. Does she not understand the value of time? I run a small business. I lose money waiting 45 minutes to an hour. I have appointments later in the day. I have a schedule, a life. I've had to move multiple appointments due to her chronic lateness on more than one occasion. Today she tried to blame running late on a "death in the family" but she is *always always always* late. That was a real cheap shot using a family member's death to condone her consistent unprofessional behavior. She'll try and get you to feel sorry for her having to pay for her daughter's Manhattan apartment, etc. Very manipulative. I SWEAR TO GOD that hours of my life have been wasted waiting on this woman. She is way cheaper than Laser Away and other places but you get what you pay for. Guaranteed she will be running late. She also marks you up with white pencil to navigate her machine but never completely cleans you off so you wind up with white stuff all over. Very unprofessional. I went into this expecting it to be very painful and expensive from what I've heard from friends who have gotten laser hair removal done before. I was still willing to do it for the sake of not having to shave every week, but I wasn't excited for it. I can happily say that this place met NONE of my expectations. Just had my first ever laser appt with Joyce after years of getting waxed! I had an awesome experience, Joyce was super friendly and very easy to contact and schedule with. She made me feel very comfortable with the whole process! The facilities were very neat and clean which was nice :) I went for a full brazilian laser as I had been getting waxed for years and wanted something more permanent. The treatment took literally like 5 minutes total, wow. And compared to waxing, the pain level was MUCH better! I do have a fairly decent pain tolerance but waxing is painful, and laser is a walk in the park in comparison. Some areas do sting (feels like getting snapped by a rubber band) but for the majority I honestly could not even tell when the laser was being applied. The cooling air really helps a lot! Also the pain does not carry over past the moment the laser is applied, which was great. You are supposed to shave the area the day before the treatment and then about two weeks after, should start seeing the hairs shed by themselves. I am super excited for this lol. I cannot wait until I am free from those pesky hairs!! Price wise, Joyce was definitely one of the most reasonably priced practitioners, and at least compared to waxing I think it is definitely cheaper in the long run. I used to pay about $40 per waxing session once per every 4-6 weeks, which over the years definitely adds up!! Laser treatments are about 6 weeks apart for about 4 sessions total, so more upfront but with more permanent results of course. Overall, had an amazing experience and looking forward to the results!! I have had laser performed at a few different places before going to Love Laser, but my experience with Joyce at Love Laser was the best! Good laser results depend on two major factors: The right machine, and a good technician. Love Laser delivers both in spades. First, the best tech can't do you any good with the wrong equipment. Many spas are selling expensive laser packages with really cheap equipment. The average IPL laser machine is cheap enough to buy for home use, and is relatively ineffective. A new CynoSure (or GentleLase) ALEXANDRITE machine costs $100,000+. If you want results, ask what kind of machine they have. Joyce has a CynoSure, and the results are phenomenal. As for Joyce, she is the most professional, sweet and considerate person you could imagine...someone you would enjoy chatting with just on a personal level. Her schedule was very accommodating, and she was meticulous and thorough in covering the areas we agreed to treat. She was generous with her treatment areas, and very reasonable in her pricing, especially considering the quality of her laser machine. I've been getting a Brazilian laser treatment here for the past few months (only had 2 treatments done so far) and I have to say that it is seriously the best personal care treatment that I've ever done for myself. I used to wax every 3 weeks but the hair would grow back within a week so I couldn't really enjoy it for long. The laser treatment is amazing because my hair now takes longer to grow back ( about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks with barely any hair down there). Definitely noticeable results for me and it's only my third time going back for another laser treatment. Another good thing to add is that the whole process only takes a few minutes (maybe 10 min or less), which makes the whole ordeal a lot more tolerable than waxing. read more

I have had lots of laser treatments, this was by far the worst treatment ever. She rushed through the entire treatment in few minutes, missed lots of spots. When she told me you are done I couldn't believe my ears, I had just sat done. Guess what another customer had just walked in. So I got a lousy rush job and paid a pretty penny for it. I went to Joyce at Love Laser after many rounds at another hair laser removal center left me with hair that would always inevitably grow back. I was disappointed that even after spending exorbitant amounts of money and hearing the success stories of other hairless women, my Brazilian laser treatment never left me completely smooth. I found Joyce on Yelp to give hair laser removal one more shot and am absolutely thrilled. She is so kind and enthusiastic about her job. I told her about my past experiences with laser and she informed me that I was likely not getting optimal results because the laser settings were not turned high enough. I was skeptical but went along with her recommendation to use a much higher and stronger setting. I never found laser to be painful in the past but I could feel the difference with Joyce. It was significantly more painful but luckily she was super fast and it was done in under 3 minutes (full Brazilian). Fingers crossed, but it's been several weeks later and not a single hair has grown back!!! Amazing. She was definitely right. This is by far the best place I have ever been to for laser. Considering I've literally been to a dozen different places, that is saying something! It took a week and for someone else to cancel for me to get an appointment, but Joyce was nice enough to text me as soon as she had an opening. The place was pretty easy to find and close to the subway. Joyce had just moved into her new space, so things were, understandably, a bit disorganized at first, but the hair removal procedure itself was great. Joyce was really friendly. She gave me some good advice on how to keep the hair from coming back quickly. She even offered to zap any stray hairs in between sessions for free. I think the best part was that Joyce really made me feel comfortable - she cares about her customers! I love, love, love that she uses cold air while she zaps, which makes the treatment so much less painful!
