DO NOT BELIEVE THE 5 STAR REVIEWS ON GROUPON BECAUSE THEY DELETE THE 1 STAR ONES. Rachel Shinhar had scammy vibes from when I first met her, and I felt something was off. I only realized and confirmed after, by talking to dermatologists about my experience, that she did a much cheaper procedure than the one I paid for. She is banking on your ignorance of how microneedling and RF microneedling are two different procedures, with very different prices, in order to scam you. I purchased radiofrequency (RF) microneedling. I have only had regular microneedling done before, and her service felt identical to it, the recovery time was identical, and the results were identical. If anything, my face wasn't nearly as red as when I had it done last time. I only discovered after asking other dermatologists that RF microneedling is VERY different. It is also MUCH more expensive. Before purchasing a groupon for her, you should know RF microneedling: -involves a machine, while regular microneedling is a handheld pen device -even with numbing cream, it feels like you're being electrocuted, a shock wave or a staple gun. It's more painful than regular microneedling -the recovery time is much longer -RF microneedling in NYC costs about $700 (without groupons etc), while regular microneedling is about $2-300. I paid $225 for one session, so she's making you think you're getting a huge deal for RF microneedling when she's really just charging you what you would pay otherwise for regular microneedling. I also asked her for how much she normally charges and she said $450 but she'll give me another session for $300. Those are not NYC prices for radiofrequency microneedling. There is a reason why she doesn't list prices for these two procedures on her website, but lists the prices for everything else. If you do not see the above signs of RF microneedling, she's scamming you by banking on your ignorance. You're also not supposed to do microneedling over blemishes, so I let her know about one on my chin. What did she do? She went over it anyways, saying it'll "kill it". That's not what dermatologists do! It of course bled. I also think there's a reason why she said she was not getting a lot of business. If you're not bringing a lot of money in, doing groupons where you give people a ~$700 procedure for $225 makes no business sense. There's no way you're making money on that, even if it's only in hopes of bringing in repeat business later on. And she has been offering groupons constantly for years. I also thankfully found out from Groupon that people are complaining about her charging tax on these services. You are not supposed to be charged sales tax for your groupons, but either way, I found out after seeing her that NYC sales tax for skincare treatments is 4.5% -- she charged me 10%. Last, I can confirm what other reviewers have said about her being a bigot. I know lovely people from Israel -- she's not one. My employer has been a target of fake antisemitism accusations and she was talking trash about them during the procedure. It was unprofessional but made it subtle she supports the crimes against humanity her country has committed. I feel so bad for the clients with Muslim names she's made ugly comments towards that I read about on Google Reviews. I am also not white so it wouldn't surprise me if she did this to me because she thought I was Arab or because of where I worked. Lastly, I posted this identical review on Groupon and they removed it due to "language". I have heard of groupon removing most 1 star reviews to keep the money flowing, so be wary, it's not a reflection of people's experiences. read more

You know how after you've had some surgery--you just feel yucky in your own body and want to start over? Rachel came highly recommended by former Yelpers. Didn't even check out her reviews--just made an appt. Had a wonderful experience with her. She's just one of those special, wise, nurturing, considerate and totally professional people. Having worked at Yelp for quite some time, I was curious to see what other customers said about her services. I'm so livid by this bigot! I was so excited to see her! I saw reviews and brought my groupon ASAP. I called and gave her my name which is a common Muslim name. I ended up being scheduled for an appointment that was 2 months away. I told myself, it's worth it, let me just wait it out. Finally my appointment day came and as planned I left in time to make it there before the appointment by 15 minutes to make sure I'm on time. I ended up waiting in the hallway for 45 minutes. (Mind you, I drove an hour to be there 15 minutes early) 15 minutes into waiting, I was finally acknowledged with a "hi, I'll be right with you". After the 45 minutes have passed, she called me in. Upon entering the room, the questions started rolling in. "Zeinab, right? That's a Muslim name isn't it?" At first I thought it was innocent conversation even though I was uncomfortable with her hyper focus on pointing out numerous times that I'm Muslim through questions that didn't seem like just conversation anymore. Her: I'm Israeli, do you know that? Me: oh cool. I didn't. Have you been? Her: it's my land. Of course I have. Aren't you Muslim? Your last name means Islamic leader right. Me: yup. (random remark from her suggesting I can get a full refund if I wanted to, to which I said no I trust you since everyone in the reviews says amazing things about you) Then she brings it back to my religion Her: Your parents are recent Muslim immigrants from Egypt? Me: no (confused as to why she would automatically think that). They have been here for a very long time. Before I even existed on this planet. (Conversations about the process in which she told me my face is extremely damaged and micro-needling will not restore it but she can try) I had a moment when I was think, damn I didn't think my skin was THAT bad. But okay she knows best. So I asked her okay, what's next. She tried to up-sell me $400 in facials before I can do the process. At this point, I'm thinking my face is destroyed and I will do whatever so sure. She was surprised and her follow up was this: (An hour and plus into waiting) her: "we won't be able to proceed. Let's just call today a free consultation and reschedule another time" I asked her how come. I was never informed that today will be a consultation. I waited 2 MONTHS for this. She tells me that every costumer gets 30 minutes and I used mine up on the consultation so we have to reschedule. I tell her okay when can I come back, she tells me she'll let me know. She will keep me on a waiting list and then has the audacity to say, let's redeem your coupon so it doesn't expire. I kid you not this was literally the experience.
