I worked with Chris Roberts on a sleeve that connects to a piece on my back, and unfortunately, it's been a very expensive and disappointing experience. At our last session, he completely botched a design we had discussed multiple times. He was supposed to tattoo a light, smoky, swirly watercolor rainbow flowing from a woman's mouth as she is singing. I showed him clear reference images, but instead he tattooed scattered colors. When I saw it during a break, I was horrified. He tried to fix it, but now it looks even wors...messy, unbalanced, and way bigger than I wanted. There's so much red it looks like she's vomiting blood. The whole section lacks flow and doesn't resemble what we agreed on. Beyond that, Chris used so many different tattoo styles across my sleeve that it now looks like a patchwork of unrelated pieces instead of a cohesive design. This is especially frustrating because I came to him with a completely clean arm, hoping to collaboratively create a meaningful sleeve inspired by a deeply spiritual personal experience. Instead, the final result feels disconnected and rushed. I reached out to him for a refund so I could have the work corrected elsewhere, and he refused--saying I had already received a discount through a promotion he was offering. But that has nothing to do with the quality of the work. In hindsight, prepaying for such a large project (over 18 hours) left me feeling stuck and caused me to overlook too many problems...poor linework, ignored design requests, and multiple last-minute cancellations. I also contacted the shop owner, who said they couldn't make Chris offer a refund and had no other artist available who could do watercolor to help fix the work. So now I'm left paying thousands more to fix a tattoo I already paid a lot for. This entire experience has been disappointing, stressful, and expensive. I DO NOT RECOMMEND WORKING WITH CHRIS!!!! There's a big difference between someone who can copy an existing image and someone who can truly design and create custom work with artistry, vision, and collaboration. Chris is NOT that kind of tattoo artist. He may be able to copy an image, but in my experience, he lacks the creative skill and communication needed to bring a client's unique vision to life. If you're looking for an artist who listens, collaborates, and has true creative vision--take your time, trust, and money somewhere else. read more

Wow. I was blown away when I walked through the doors of this tattoo studio off Colfax and Ammons. It's a huge, beautiful, peaceful space with urban art and a cool feel. Who knew this gem studio was here? I had used a top rated studio and artist for my last tattoo and felt left down by the results creatively. I decided to put this tattoo in the hands of fate and placed a Yelp quote request at 15 top studios requesting a "small wrist tattoo" with a detailed description and just sat back and waited. I received 4 responses: one studio didn't email back, the 2nd studio responded back with a generic "walk ins are welcome" and the 3rd "star" artist emailed me she's busy and why don't I "...just call around!" 4th was Jessica from Love N Hate. She responded politely requesting more & more info and called me this morning asking if I could come in at 3pm because Daniel had a cancellation. Daniel was awesome, polite taking Covid precautions at all times. He gave my small scribbled drawing life and turned it into a meaningful and beautiful tattoo. I felt pampered from start to finish. He made me stand in different positions in front of a mirror to examine our design from all angles before tattooing - good to know for the future. Amazed would be an understatement!!! I called the tattoo studio on Thursday evening just on a limb to inquire about a new ink piece. I was greeted promptly by Destiny who was phenomenal with answering my MANY QUESTIONS and also confirming scheduling and designs with the artist Hunter! After the exceptional customer service I received over the phone I booked my appointment for the following business day. I meet with Hunter who created a wonderful design JUST for me!! It had EVER piece of detail I wanted along with his jeweled touch!!! Hunter stayed AFTER HOURS to complete my tattoo with no complaints and made me feel welcomed. My tattoo took roughly 4-5 hours due to the size and detail. NO RUSH JOB. I am visiting here for work and I will be sure to come back here every time I'm in Denver looking for a tattoo!!! I recommended this place to friends and family already and it hasn't been a full 24 hours since the completion of my tattoo. I love it here!!! VERY CLEAN tattoo studio. I love this place! The shop is always clean and very proffesional. I come to Josh for all my tattoo needs. He does some amazing work. The staff is always super friendly! From the owner all the way down to the apprentice. Another one of the things that keeps me coming here is that the artists truly care about the clients. They make sure that you leave satisfied with an incredibly well done piece of art every time you get inked. It's obvious that they are not just in it for the money like most shops. They take great pride in they're artwork. Every time I have a session, I leave the shop with my expectations exceeded! I can't wait for my next appointment. Love N Hate is by far the best tattoo shop I have ever been in. It's always clean and their staff is always friendly and welcoming. I've been tattooed here three times, all by Gabe Lopez. These were not small or easy pieces, in every case we've first talked about what I want, then when the time comes, he'll show me what he's drawn and it's always exceeded expectations. I don't think I've spent less than 6 hours there for each session, Gabe is constantly asking if I'm comfortable, making sure I'm doing alright. During the tattoos there's usually a constant conversation going on between all the artists and clients, it truly feels like I'm hanging out with friends. All of my tattoos done by Gabe are true works of art and I'm proud to have them. I would recommend any artist in the shop as they're all incredibly talented. Best tattoo artists in Denver , No doubt about it!!! This tattoo shop is everything you want it to be. Great atmosphere, Amazing creative artists, Clean, Comfortable, and very Professional shop!!! I have spent probably 40 hrs getting work done by Gabe at Love n Hate and would not go anywhere else. And just like Gabe , each artist brings there own original style, as I've seen first hand the work done by the other artist while being in there and can honestly say each one of there work is very professional. Definitely the best shop I've ever been too and I've been to a few shops. It also has to be one of the best in Colorado when you got pro athletes going there for their tattoos says a lot about the work and service there. I get tattooed by Gabe Lopez and the dude is simply amazing to say the least. When I go in there when I want to get something done I just tell him ideas of what I like or want and I trust him enough to come up with something great and he does. Besides from all the artist being great they are all even better people and make you feel welcome, its like you're neighborhood barbershop that you been going to for years and everybody knows and talks to each other and makes you're tattoo session less painful hahaha. I got a sleeve done by Gabe Lopez. He's an awesome artist that took what I told him I wanted and really made it come together even better then I imagined it. It's a relaxing environment, which makes it even that much nicer when you're sitting through a 5 hour tattoo each session, which I had 4 sessions. He makes sure that you're comfortable and asks if you need breaks throughout tattoo. I've gotten complimented so much on my tattoo, to the point where I actually get stopped so they can look at my arm and ask where I got it done. (I mean people know when they're looking at great art, Right!) It's a tattoo I had wanted for a very long time and I absolutely love it the most out of all my tattoos I have. Couldn't say how much time spent their but it is a lot!!! Mike Nance has done just about all my work (I have a few from the past). First portrait he did was of my Dad who had just passed. Got hooked right away. Not with tattoos but the fact that I had found someone with so much talent! In just over two years strait we worked on both arms (sleeved) Mike also has done work on the wife, and my two eldest. FIRE!!! all of them.... Easy going guy, great at listing to your ideas and bringing them to life. Nothing but love & respect to mr.nance!!! This establishment has some of the best artist in town, hands down. I have the pleasure of knowing all of them and they truly care for the art and aim for customer satisfaction. I've lost track of the amount of hours I've spent in Gabe's (the owner) chair but at least 20. One of the most important tattoo's I've gotten was an ovarian cancer ribbon in honor of my aunt who had passed away. I have nothing bad at all to say about this place. Hunter did my black and grey rose tattoo with roman numerals, and he had the design ready as soon as i came in the door. It was exactly what i had in mind, only better. He kept the conversation going while tattooing me, which made me focus less on the pain.
