    Soft shell crab poboy
    Jonathan R.

I can't remember how I found out about Love's seafood but I wanted to give it a try. I know I've passed the one on Springhill but have never been. The Azalea road location is much closer to me. Anyway, I was checking their menu because I wanted to do takeout. I saw that they had a soft shell crab poboy. That sounded very interesting to me. I'd never had a crab poboy before. I ordered that and it came with fries. I went to pick up my food. When I was on the phone ordering the person taking my order informed me that I could pick up my order through the drive thru. That was not a problem. He explained that the inside of the restaurant was closed. I'm not sure when the inside closes but I ordered around 7 or so. Like I said that wasn't a problem for me. I was in the drive thru for a few minutes and picked up my food fairly quickly. When I got home I was eager to find out what this poboy was about. I peeked at the sandwich and was a little underwhelmed. To be fair, I didn't really know what to expect. I think I thought the poboy would be fuller than it was. Now when I bit into the sandwich it was really good. It had a lot of flavor it just was a small sandwich. The fries with my poboy were pretty good. No complaints there. Even though I was a little underwhelmed with the poboy I still want to go back and try other items on the menu. The seafood boils look delicious.

Good and service are great! I recommend the whitefish. It's consistently great! Oh the okra is amazing. Can't wait to go back.

The food is always fresh so I never mind having to pull up to wait. It's always a lot of food and it's great for the value

One star for the hush puppies…read more One star for our friendly server. Sadly, I can only give two stars to Wintzell's House in Mobile, Alabama. I should've listened to all of the advice from the locals on Reddit, who warned me that this place has fallen on harder times. The char grilled oysters were funky. I ate them but worried as I ate them. The hush puppies earned a star. They were pretty tasty. The were my favorite thing on the table. However, we asked for butter, and our server gave us packets of butter substitute. Doesn't this restaurant have real butter? The gumbo was fairly tasteless and also, they had chopped up whatever seafood was in there so finely that it all just turned into mush. If there was any seafood in there, I sure didn't taste it. The West Indies crab salad was a shocking disappointment. It was a scoop of crab meat, which they ruined by mixing it up with mayo. That's it. An ice cream scoop of canned crab meat mixed with heavy mayo. It's like they didn't even try. The bread pudding left very little impression. It was a little rectangular square. Our server misunderstood us when we said we wanted it topped with ice cream, and served the bread pudding alongside a bowl of five scoops of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. It was a very odd dessert situation, but we worked our way through it. Our server was an amusing fella. He kinda/sorta made the evening. Overall, I'm glad I went so I could know for myself. However, I do wish that I had listened to the locals on Reddit.

I found the duck and sausage gumbo to be incredible. The spice was perfect, for my taste, and I'd order it again in an instant. I also enjoyed the empanadas - they reminded me of Jamaican beef patties, and I really enjoyed them. Their preparation of red snapper was perfect, in my opinion. Their draft options are limited, but the staff was very helpful in choosing other drinks. They had two different bartenders in my visits, and I believe both tried very hard to make me happy, even though I was just a random walk-in. They had quite a few locals who got to-go orders during my visits, and everyone seemed very happy with their food. Desserts are all homemade, and are good, and very large, even if not what I would traditionally call by the same name. Bread pudding was outstanding, but the cannoli was closer to what I would call a creme horn. In all, I would certainly return, and strongly recommend the duck/sausage gumbo. I'm

I was in town for work and came here three times in two days. I've lived in New Orleans so I know good fresh boiled crawfish and this place delivers. Very flavorful crawfish. I got regular level of spiciness and it was plenty spicy so I don't need to know what it tastes like if you order it extra spicy. Not only that, but their shrimp is freshly fried and tastes fresh and from the gulf. And the okra was hot and freshly fried too. Delicious meal. Service is friendly and nice, and food usually came out under ten minutes from when I ordered. Got charged different amounts each time I went but it wasn't a big difference.

The food quality is NOT the same. There is absolutely no love in the food anymore. I've tried both the fried and steamed and have been disappointed by both. It breaks my heart because I LOVED this place. Could barely find a parking space in the lot. Was willing to illegally park to get in! Not anymore. One of my brothers that lives in Miami demanded that we go here every time he visits. I told him we will never step foot in there again. Don't waste your time or money. You'll be better off cooking at home if this is your only choice. I'm sorry but it's that bad now.
