The decor is dated and slightly tacky, the floor is carpet tile, that bathrooms were run down and dirty, the decorative plate given before your entree was spotty and oily. The food is priced between 30-60$ per entree, and for prices like that the service was decent. While definitely not fine dining service, my waiter was kind and knowledgeable. However the restaurant does not deserve its semi-strict dress code. The food was good though, and raised my rating a star. Finding the place was a bit of a challenge, but as long as one could locate the correct door, there would be a sign that points in the right direction. My partner and I went straight to the top floor and were seated in a spot that allowed us to see the entire city view. It was very clear that this was a fine dining spot, because I was given a blazer by the restaurant staff since I failed to dress up for this occasion. I have never tried alligator meat before and managed to taste it for the first time here. It tasted like popcorn chicken and having Thai chili sauce was a good move because it offered the dish good flavor. I didn't use any of the ranch dressing. The gulf shrimp chowder was extremely tasty because it contained a good amount of black pepper and a lot of shrimp and cream corn, making the soup taste creamy in a flavorful way. My partner had great things to say about the duck, which was a specialty dish. The maple glaze was obvious and provided the duck breast meat with good flavor. However, the green beans were very plain with barely any seasoning. I ordered the farmer's plate, which was a vegetarian dish, and I thought that it was overall only okay because the snow peas were very undercooked, and they occupied majority of the dish. The green tomatoes, tomatillos, and zucchini all tasted very good. In terms of desserts, the chocolate cake was very hot and moist inside, which made it clear that it was fresh. The outer crust was very crispy but the inside tasted too plain. The key lime pie was very well-made, with a soft layer of graham crackers along with tasty mango syrup and hibiscus reduction defining the extra taste. Overall they both tasted great. I must mention that our server Ashleigh was very attentive and helpful. My partner and I appreciated her help a lot during our experience. My family and I stopped here during a drive through Alabama. My father-in-law wanted a nice dinner with a view, and this place certainly delivers on the scenery. The view of Mobile is gorgeous. The interior itself feels pretty dated though. Our server Ev was friendly and gave great recommendations, but the rest of the staff had an attitude. Hard to act that fancy when the food is this inconsistent. Appetizers were actually the highlight of the meal. The 5 Rivers gator bites were excellent with an amazing dipping sauce. The mussels were big and well prepared, though the garlic white wine sauce was a bit underwhelming. We also tried some fish cakes that were dry with an overly mustardy sauce. Entrees were where things went downhill. My Steak Diane was not worth $44. The sauce was watery, the mashed potatoes had a weird aftertaste, and while the steak was tender it just wasn't juicy. The seafood pasta my family got was better, so that's a win, but another entree i don't remember the name of left them feeling meh. For dessert, the cheesecake tasted like it came straight from the refrigerator section at a grocery store. The bread pudding was genuinely good though. read more

Knowing that the restaurant was in the former First National Bank Building on the top floor, I planned ahead and wore some khaki long pants and a nice shirt. Absolutely everything was excellent! A friend and I went to Dauphin's and were overjoyed to find the staff friendly and welcoming. The Shrimp Tacos were excellent, and the service was way above par. One time I had a quesadilla on the lunch menu that was truly disgusting--like inedible (how do you make a quesadilla bad?!), the burger I had yesterday was also just bad. Me and a group of friends had a reservation for a birthday dinner at Dauphin's. The reservation was relatively late so we were one of the last parties. It was a quiet night and the staff was so sweet. The bartender made me a drink that I didn't really like so she replaced it with a custom drink. I told her I love hibiscus and tequila so she made me a hibiscus margarita/martini. It was so good that several of the ladies in my group ordered it as well. I ordered the Joe Cain Dip which I wasn't a huge fan of. It wasn't bad, just not my favorite. The Pasta Del Mar made up for it 10000%. The food was hot and perfectly plated. Nothing was overcooked and the mussels were really good. Also, our server was absolutely amazing. She made sure to answer all of our questions and was very detailed in her descriptions of the different menu options. We've dined at the Dauphin's a few times before during previous visits to Mobile, AL and always enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, this recent visit during Memorial Day weekend was a bit of a letdown. While the service was okay, the food left much to be desired. The main issue was the white fish of the day limon style, which was overcooked ~ extremely dry and hard with a side of overcooked, slimey asparagus. This was quite disappointing, especially since it's a dish I've enjoyed here in the past. However, the rest of the items we ordered were pretty good, maintaining the quality I've come to expect. I have to add that portions are above average size so if you're looking to try dessert, you may want to skip appetizers. One consistent highlight is the view from the 34th floor, which is simply amazing and adds a wonderful ambiance to the dining experience, especially during sunset. The cocktail with thyme is also great. Overall, this visit was not as impressive as previous ones, but I hope it was just an off night for the kitchen. We may give it another chance due to the beautiful setting and the generally good food we've had in the past. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I'd only be able to give it 3 stars. read more

First time at Dauphin's. It was fabulous. Food was delicious, generous servings and reasonable prices. Our server, Clara , was so nice and so helpful. She offered lots of good suggestions, was so sweet, observant of things we needed before we even realized we needed them, and her service was efficient, timely, and unobtrusive. The view from the 34th floor was simply amazing! As for the food, this was lunch, and I had the shrimp tacos which Clara recommended. Two tacos in home made puffy, crunchy shells filled with fried shrimp, thinly sliced cabbage and served w mango salsa and a spicy sriracha pepper jelly type sauce. Delicious, and so much food. Husband had Nana's chicken also recommended by Clara and also very generous portions. Tender fried chicken breast served with smashed potatoes and greens. I have never, ever known him to even touch collard greens, but he finished those! We had just returned from New Orleans on the train. We are not from Mobile but Dauphin's was recommended by our daughter who lives nearby as well as several people as we exited the train. I was on my way back from Orlando and stopped in Mobile for the night and decided to take my girlfriend to Dauphins for dinner. First.. The view of Mobile is spectacular. The ambiance is very nice. Big city feel to it. Now for the food. For appetizers we split the Bama Gump which was superb. Loved the fried green tomato's! My girlfriend had filet mignon which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the Rasta pasta which was wonderful. For dessert.. we split the Bimini Key lime pie which was superb. Our server was wonderful and made our dinner out special. If you are looking for a romantic restaurant with great views and service.... I recommend Dauphin's. We will return when we ever get back to Mobile. read more

Dauphin's is supposed to be one of the nicer places for dinner around town, but I'll admit I was not impressed by the service or food. The view was beautiful, and the dress code was nice but not enforced. We checked the website and called to verify about the open-toed shoes, and all the dress code rules were reiterated. We were happy to oblige. Upon entering there were several folks wearing hats, some wearing jeans, and a few wearing shorts-- all against their "dress code policy." Okay. Our server was nice but seemed very anxious or unsure. It took a long time to place drink orders, then my drink was spilled on the table and phones when placed in front of me. No help or apology to clean up. Our food orders were taken in the most random order, and one member was skipped altogether. Our server had to come back to get his order. Lastly, out of all six of us eating here, only two people actually enjoyed their meals. The oysters weren't great; the flounder tasted as if it was not fresh but frozen; one of the filet mignon entrees looked like a tiny meatball and was bland as ever; and the tres salsas fish entree was a bust for both people that ordered it. The price wasn't the problem; the value isn't there. This place is striving to be fine dining but missing the mark on truly achieving it. This meal was a celebratory outing, yet it was not very well enjoyed by the group. It's a shame, really. We'd have had a better meal going to Baumhower's for wings! read more

This is our first time at Dauphins . We are in Mobile for the evening and decided to try it out . The bread they bring out is a baguette and it comes with the whipped hibiscus coconut butter and the sea salt butter . Believe me the hibiscus coconut butter is the winner it's got a sweet taste a lot like honey . My husband had a side salad that is their house salad and it was good with fresh lettuce , tomato , red onion , carrot, cucumber and croutons . For our entree he has the filet mignon that came with Parmesan asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes he said it was excellent. I had the Steak Diane which is the surf and turf , the grilled shrimp were cooked perfectly and seasoned well , the beef tenderloins were cooked to order and the mushroom Demi glacé was great , I also had the Parmesan asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes which was also delicious. Our server Monica was friendly and very great at service . I do highly recommend this restaurant if you are in downtown Mobile . We will do sure be back again when we come back to this area . Went for a 60th birthday. Just my husband and myself. The service was great. We were met with a smile and professionalism that is rare anymore. The waitress was wonderful, helpful, pleasant and again professional. The food was amazing and the cost was very competitive with steak and seafood restaurants. March 29 dinner service was excellent with a party of seven. Our server Crow took great care of the table and everyone enjoyed shared appetizers, desserts, mains and cocktails. I have enjoyed lunches, brunches, and now a dinner service here and all were beyond reproach. Admittedly my dining partners on these occasions many times are favorite people adding to the experience, but non pressured and paced dining (especially hosting teens in prior years) as well as thoughtful servers and a beautiful room adds to the experience. I've been twice now and have concluded that the food doesn't live up to the hype. I'd give them 2/5 stars for food and 5/5 stars for everything else. Yes, the views are fantastic. The ambiance is very nice. I don't believe the dress code was adhered to strictly so don't worry about that. The service is top notch. Both times we went out servers were authentic, funny and had great recommendations. One of our visits was the Sunday brunch and we loved the saxophone player. So the food. Maybe it's just me, but shrimp and grits should come with at least 4 large Gulf shrimp. The kind that takes more than one bite to eat. It was delicious but the shrimp were no bigger than my thumbnail and hard to find. The portion was also small. The bananas foster french toast was also skimpy on bananas and sauce. Maybe a half or a banana was used? The French toast was just nice. The biscuits and hibiscus butter were delicious. The last time we went, I felt the food was ok. Not fantastic but good. If you're looking for a memorable location for a special night out, this is it. If you're looking for good food and maybe leftovers for the next day, there are other places in Mobile. read more

I brought my team for an office celebration and Dauphin's did not disappoint! If your biggest complaint is finding a parking place, life is good. From the appetizers to them allowing us to cut and eat our celebration cake - everything was perfect. Our service person, Nay, was amazing. She make great recommendations, took care of our table for 12 (thanks Dauphin's team for making THAT happen) as if we a group of 4. I'm vegetarianish so I thought it would be a challenge but let me tell you, after the appetizers and the amazing bread, my order of fried green tomatoes and the wedge salad were more than enough. My colleagues ate a little bit of everything and there was more than one "licked" clean plate. The view was amazing, we felt like were treated like royalty, and a fun time was had by all. An awesome view, meal, and service. This was a delight on a Saturday night we had reservations at 6:45 PM. We were seated just before our reservation time and Mike our waiter was over pretty quick as we continued to enjoy the spectacular view from our table. We started with the fried green tomatoes with a shrimp on top. Very tasty, nice crunch on the breading and a little bit of spicy heat but not too hot. Next I had the wedge salad and she had the house. Cold forks were brought to the table and the salads were crisp, cold, and both had great flavor. Next she had the tuna with garlic mash potatoes and asparagas, I had the Filet mignon with the same sides. Both dishes were seasoned and cooked perfectly amd the entree was delicious. We finished off with the flourless chocolate cake it was very rich and tasty, we could not finish it. All in all, a perfect evening. But there was a large party happening in one section of the restaurant and our server was taking care of us.And um, I believe participating in taking care of that large party and I felt like we got put on the back burner because yeah, we were not the large party, so that was a bit disappointing. I had to ask three times for more water. And the food was okay at best.. i think this place is a little too hyped up. The prettiest view in Mobile - day or night. Upscale atmosphere that had a piano player singing in the lounge area, but not too loud that we couldn't converse. It was packed on a Thursday evening but service was attentive. We were a larger group for a business dinner. Delicious bread with a hibiscus butter. Appetizers included fried green tomatoes, alligator bites in a sweet Thai chili sauce, and crab claws. All great to share. Tasty soup du jour was a creamy potato soup and wedge salads were good with bacon and a blue cheese dressing. Filets were prepared perfect temps served with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Huge portions on the Shrimp & Grits. One guest got the fish grilled. Although we did not have room for dessert, a fun presentation of cold chocolate mints were provided.
