We realized two weeks before the scheduled lesson that it was actually virtual and immediately reached out to explain the honest mistake and request a refund. No lesson or service had been provided. I was told an in-person lesson would be $850, plus I would be responsible for her flight, hotel, meals/per diem, and travel expenses. I also found it confusing that her business is advertised on Yelp under a Tampa address, despite her not living in Tampa. Despite reaching out two weeks in advance, our refund was refused. What was supposed to be a special birthday gift has now left us out $450. After the way this was handled, we aren't even comfortable using the virtual lesson or transferable credit. There seemed to be zero compassion or flexibility for another person's honest mistake, even though no service had been performed. I understand businesses have policies, but I also believe there should be a human element to customer service. Unfortunately, that was completely missing from our experience.

Of course, I sweated slightly - but I took some blotting tissue and that took care of it- but she took care to really matte my makeup, so it didn't affect the look. I'll also mention that I'm 51, my sister is 47, and my niece is 26- and we all looked great! The other thing I'll mention is her professionalism. Not only was I able to book my reservation quickly and quietly after I put my toddlers to bed, but I was also able to score a morning appointment before nap time! The location on South Dale Mabry is super convenient to my house and there was plenty of parking spots available. Loved the fun and modern decor and music. Did I mention the awesome childcare area?! The owner obviously gets that busy moms want to get pampered, but do not always have access to a babysitter. My stylist Dali was so sweet and friendly and did an amazing job with my hair! I decided to pay a little extra and added beach waves to my blowout. The result was so pretty and she added enough hairspray so that my hair still looked fabulous five hours later at our photoshoot!

I was grateful to be warmly welcomed upon arriving to L.A. Gallery, despite my visit serving the purpose of a Groupon redemption (we all know what the typical business owner reaction is when showing up with a Groupon). In any event, the stylist I had originally booked my appointment with was still busy with her previous client, so the owner did not hesitate to reduce my wait time by pairing me up with a different stylist. The stylist who worked on my hair was VERY nice and her knowledge-level made me feel incredibly comfortable... it's always nice to feel reassured by someone's talent BEFORE putting the fate of one's hair in the possession of another. Her name I am pretty sure was Jessica**, and I could say that with confidence if I hadn't already misplaced the business card they gave me (like a doofus)...but she was very knowledgeable, easy to talk with, and super friendly. **update: My stylist was Amber She easily understood the color and style that I was seeking to achieve that day, and she did a phenomenal job. A month later, and I have barely seen any grays (honestly, every time I left Paul Mitchell another gray hair would somehow pop up out of nowhere). I can 100% attest to LA Hair's stylists' ability to achieve complete coverage of grays. Jessica took the time that was necessary to ensure my complete satisfaction, and even offered me some ideas for how to reduce the oil production in my hair. I didn't really understand what texturing was and as soon as she began the process, I really wasn't sure that I would like it, but as soon as she was finished, everyone in the salon swooned and confirmed that her work was laudable. I really appreciated that the owner Claudia did NOT charge me an additional cost for the additional hair that they had to dye. Many salons will up-charge if you have "long hair" but they did not do this which I was so pleased about. As far as the style goes, I don't know that I would texture my ends again, as it does seem to increase the appearance of split ends and hair thinning, but the nice thing is that hair grows back - and mine grows back pretty fast. I will definitely return in the near future - as soon as it is time to touch-up them grays!
