This jewelry pawn shop "appraised" a diamond ring for a family member. Ace told her it was worth $1,000. The gold itself is worth almost that much. The diamond at lowest value (because he didn't assess clarity), is at its lowest possible value of $6,350, assuming the clarity of the ring was the worst clarity. If better clarity, much higher. Myself and my wife have been return customers at Lovejoy for approximately the last 10 years. Ace, the owner, has done a remarkable job at always trying to please his customers with all of the stunning items that he sells at his fine store. With that being said I purchased a Pre Owned Presidential Rolex watch there, that was in like new condition. It also had a 2 year warranty left from having recently been serviced by Rolex. Ace is a wonderful owner and thoroughly enjoys his fabulous store & customers as well! His store is filled with wonderful Jewlery and gorgeous Antiques as well. We have sent many of our friends there who have also purchased a Rolex watches and jewelry as well. If you're ever in Naples please make sure that you take a trip down 5th Avenue and make a visit to Lovejoys. Trust me you will definitely not be disappointed one single bit. I had a great experience with Lovejoy. I was in the downtown shopping district for lunch recently and decided to stop in to browse their selection of men's watches. I was greeted by Ace and after a few minutes of browsing, he asked if I was looking for a particular style, brand, or certain model of watch. I told him about a watch that I had seen several years earlier. He immediately knew of the specific watch and said that it was a bit uncommon. But since I wasn't in a hurry to make a purchase, he offered to record my information and contact me if he was able to find one in the future. About a week later, he called to say he had a similar style of watch come in to what I was looking for within my price range. He texted me photos to see if I was interested. I decided to pass on that particular watch, and he told me that he would keep looking. Within another week and a half, he called to say that he was able to find the exact watch that I was looking for, but in his opinion, I would be much happier if he sent it in to be serviced before I bought it. Of course, this increased the price a bit but the end result was fantastic, and I am glad I followed his suggestion. Throughout the whole process I was very satisfied with both the service and expertise that I received at Lovejoy. I already have them looking for another watch for my collection, and would gladly recommend them to my friends and family members. read more

I stopped into Lovejoy's on 2/1/20 to have them look at an Antique Pocket watch. Bob, seemed to know a lot about old watches. He suggested I get the case fixed because the hinge came apart and he was going to get a picture of the movement to see what type it was. I went in to get a Value and some background information on the watch. He said his guy would fix it for $100. No other fees were explained or discussed. So I leave the watch- After 5 Weeks later ( calling and messaging him each week) I pick up the Watch. When I pick up the watch it didn't chime anymore. Bob blamed that on me not wanting to get it serviced. After a few minutes discussion Bob walks away to go sell some gold to a regular and doesn't want to deal with it. I paid the agreed amount of $100 (see Robert below) and I leave but before driving off I remembered I had pictures. Not being a watch expert myself I had pictures stored in my phone from before dropped it off. I compared those to current and saw which pieces were missing. I go back into the store and explain that pieces are missing. Bob called his watch guy and he said "oh yeah I forgot those on my bench" So I leave the watch again and have to return the next day to pick it up after they put it back together. Today the Watch doesn't Chime twice like it did before he "fixed the case" and the Crystal is not attached to the face. Still no idea of the Movement- never got the information on it. Robert- his employee was extremely rude -snarky remarks about payments because he wanted to charge me $350 when that wasn't the agreed amount. He kept complaining he was losing money. I tried to explain to him the situation and he didn't want to hear it. I went back and forth with Bob and got nowhere. He blamed me for not wanting to get the watch serviced, pushed me off and didn't want to make it right. Today the Watch is in worse condition then when I brought it in the first place just to talk about a value. I would beware of having any watch serviced or looked at Lovejoys. The watch guy is incompetent leaving parts on his bench and leaving a watch in worse condition the before. The employee is very rude to customers. Overall not a good experience. Unfortunately, my review of Lovejoy is quite mixed. The store, which specializes in estate jewelry, has many fine qualities, including some excellent inventory. It is well-appointed and owned by a family that engages customers in the store. They buy as well as sell jewelry. My most recent experience is a cautionary tale. I bought an antique medallion that was very strongly represented to me as 18k gold. It is a neat design, and I didn't mind paying about $70 over the bullion price to get a piece I enjoy. I should have pushed harder to validate the calibre of the gold; so that part if the story is on me. A few days later, I was in the vicinity of a gold exchange who ran an acid test on the piece, and assured me that it is 10k gold, which I was able to see with my own eyes quite clearly. Okay, even though the gold is stamped with an 8, which Lovejoy claimed was a clear indicator of 18k, assessments of gold quality can vary; so, I cannot fault them. However, when I wrote the family member who sold me the piece to describe my experience, I got no response. This was consistent with another transaction with Lovejoy, when I was interested in something they were thinking about selling, but not sure they were going to. I inquired about it twice over the course of six months and they did not have the courtesy or management systems to get it together to call me back. This is not the way in which fine retailing should be conducted, in my opinion. So, as much as I like their material and as engaging as they are in the store, I don't think I'll be doing business with Lovejoy again. read more

Probably the worst experience I've ever had while buying a product. The owner is a particularly nasty individual. After describing some problems I had with a (damaged) product he sold me, he used the F-word, asked what was the "matter" with me, and told me to "get over it".
