I remember each minute of my wedding day and after reminiscing, I honestly don't remember seeing him. But, the pictures don't lie! He has every angle of each moment. What's crazy is that he has a shot behind me, and the next minute he's in front of me. What's crazier is that I don't even remember him taking those shots. Besides being invisible, he has a keen eye for artistic shots. One quality of great photographers is that they forgo the flash function and use natural light. In his 15-20 years of service, he must have mastered that craft along with physics (the one dealing with light). I'd say natural light shots make the photos realistic. Adding frosting to the cake, Sherman says he barely do any post-processing work. A photographer who can pull off those shots without too much photoshopping deserves a 3-star michelin award (the highest a restaurant can receive). In summary, hire Sherman if you want: 1) Top quality work (natural light shots). 2) A ninja who blends in with the crowd when taking shots. 3) A funny and nice guy. 4) Memories of a lifetime.

I think my favorite shot was a portrait he took of me getting my red lipstick put on. We had a soulful connection moment and the shot is full of feeling. He also got a specail shot of me coming in the door with my dads. We had rain on our wedding day and the light was difficult, but Sherman had great strategies for dealing with both. We met with Regina in San Francisco and did a 20-minute session with her. In that amount of time, she jam packed so many different scenes and shots. Because of this, I would not recommend her unless you take my experience and adjust the contract she makes you sign. jealous of those who have had a great experience, but for first time clients, If you don't want to read the whole review, I at least urge you to push for the change in contract terms where you don't pay a final % of the package until you receive the final gallery. Without this, Emmy has no incentive to return them to you on time. If she doesn't agree to this reasonable change in payment terms, you should probably ask yourself why that is... I reached out to schedule my sessions with Emmy when I was only 8 weeks pregnant since I had come across her IG page and loved her work so early on. Signing the contract and paying the deposit was no problem. The problems came later on, which is why I advise changing the wording of the contract to protect yourself as well. Issue #1: I was booked for a late January session, because of personal reasons I had to reschedule. Per our contract, I knew it was going to be a $50 rescheduling fee. However, I did not expect for Emmy to break the terms of the contract we had both signed "because of the amount of people that had been doing so". These are her words, not mine, screenshot of the email exchange. Why is it my responsibility to pay extra for what her other clients are doing to her? I left this conversation feeling frustrated since she had no issue breaking the terms of the contract on her end over $25, so I made the decision to cancel the newborn session and requested to move the $150 deposit I had paid over to the remaining amount left of the maternity session. At this point, Emmy called me and made it a huge point that we had signed a contract where it states that the deposit was non-refundable. I asked her then why it couldn't be amended if she had no problem breaking the contract on her end to charge me an additional $25 to reschedule. She decided that the $50 would be respected, but that I still would not receive my $150 deposit back. Issue #2: I booked the session with the makeup artist she frequently uses and I was comfortable with her work since I could see it on IG and it matched my style. The week of my maternity shoot she makes a post searching for a new MUA. I don't know if it's just me, but I personally did not want to be the one who gets experimented on with a new MUA since I had not seen her work. I reached out to Emmy to let her know that I was fine with removing the makeup portion of the package. Again, she made it a big deal about not being able to change the terms of the contract (which makes absolutely no sense if she is the one who wrote the contract...) and instead wanted me to downgrade my package. My package was $900, the package she wanted me to downgrade to was $700. This $200 difference meant the loss of the makeup, 2 dress options and 2 backdrops. Which makes no sense when at the time of booking, the makeup add-on had been a $150 add-on fee. She again, she was only interested in changing the contract terms when it meant that she would make more money. Email exchange on this is also attached. Issue #3: We went ahead and took the photos as scheduled. Per the contract, she was supposed to send me the final gallery no later than 6 weeks after the shoot date. Well, 6 weeks went by and there was no word from her at all. I finally reached out and heard no communication back from her except for the finished gallery a few days later. She charged an additional $200 for the changes I made to the contract, but there is no repercussion for her not upholding her end of the contract? How is it not taking advantage of your clients when you sign a contract and expected them to uphold the terms out of respect for your time, but you have zero lack of respect for our time and money and will gladly break the terms on your end when it is convenient to you?

She photographed my wedding in the Adirondacks (yes, I paid for her to travel there because she's that good!) and did a stunning job. Genevieve's technical understanding of photography is second to none. The lighting was perfect on all our photos, and her skill also showed itself in our dance-floor shots. They're not dark and blurry like I've seen from other weddings. They're crystal clear and really capture the joy that was present. I could actually frame a dance floor shot from my wedding! Take her technical prowess and combine that with her unmatched ability to prepare for and execute on the day of. Genevieve is generous with her time for you; she does extensive site research for all her weddings. She knew where on site to take us for each of the photography sessions. She had thought through what time of day it would be (for lighting) and where guests would be (for hiding the bride!). She also spent lots of time with me before the wedding reviewing the schedule and giving feedback on the timing of events. On the day of, Genevieve serves as a calming force. When I started to get anxious that we were behind schedules, she said "we have plenty of time" in the most reassuring, calming voice. She knows how to make the wedding party comfortable and keep the bride feeling relaxed so that she can look her most beautiful in the photos! Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the pictures are BEAUTIFUL! Genevieve was sure to capture everything on my requests list.
