Took my son out this past Sunday, May 18 for his first experience with salt-water fishing. Lovely Martha was a perfect experience for him! Deck hands made sure he had a good time, were patient and friendly. He caught his first striped bass! Excellent customer service, quality fishing guides, and a good time had by all.

We went on the Lovely Martha for a friends birthday party and had a BLAST! We were lucky to have great weather, and got a nice tour of the bay, under both bridges. Captain Mike was very helpful and nice. The boat had a speaker in the back but we recommend bringing an additional one for the front as it's hard to here. You can bring your own drinks and snacks.

UNFORGETTABLE DAY ON THE BAY!! Captain Mike and his outstanding deck hands Willie and Andrew went out of their way to make everything just right. Mike and crew take pride in what they do and made sure to fish on which made it so FUN .. Almost 20 of us pulled the limit, without pulling rank, ha Tell your friends, make a plan, promise you won't be disappointed!

I'll give 4-stars as I believe the trip we went on was as intended, but I'll never go back and I'll give a warning for anyone who is interested that doesn't know what these boats are about. These fishing trips are not for the faint of heart and even if you're tough and tolerant of terrible conditions, it can be a challenge. I am a lifelong fisherman, back packer, I do 30 mile bike rides in 40 degree rain, and this trip today kicked my ass. I brought my 14 year old son. We left SF, with Captain Mike and a crew of two, and took the boat 2 hours straight out into the ocean, and we're not prepared! It was about 50F, very windy with water spray, moments later we were soaked and shivering, it was miserable. On top of it, huge swells and boat rocking, pretty soon about 1/4 of the boat was vomiting over the edge. We were not dressed properly with light jackets and pants, if you go have a full waterproof jacket and pants, wear waterproof boots galoshes preferably. You will get soaked and freezing otherwise. Despite taking Dramamine we both started feeling sick right away, the medicine also makes you very sleepy, so we basically spent 8 hours freezing, shivering, nauseous, extremely sleepy and vomiting. Once we got to the spot the fishing was good, the boat hit its limit of Salmon in 45min, but the fishing was so insane and chaotic that it was all my son and I could do to stay out of the way of the pandemonium. I finally asked a deck hand to help my son catch a fish and they let him reel one in. We ended up with 3 nice fish. The focus here is on catching lots of fish fast, not giving paying customers a nice fishing experience. Zero concern for that. At the point the boat hit limit I was ecstatic because it meant getting off the boat faster, then it was two hours of hell driving back to SF, more nausea, exhaustion and vomiting. The other odd thing is that for each fish you catch you use a 2.5lb lead weight which just falls off and goes to the bottom of the Pacific, so each fish costs you $10 and a weight at the bottom of the ocean, there has to be a better way to do this. But if all you want is salmon, this is the most expensive and miserable way to get it. It cost about $700 for two of us to get about 10ths of salmon, so $70 a pound! LOLS. And I got an $80 parking ticket because the boat captain said I didn't need to pay because the parking ticket machine was broken, totally false. In summary, there were prepared and really happy people on this boat that didn't get sick and seemed really happy to be there (not us), we're dressed warm enough and knew how to deal with the insanity, but this isn't a fishing trip for the average person or even an advanced fresh water fisherman, be very aware.

I couldn't have had a better experience with these people, Michael, his dad and crew were awesome. Will was especially helpful and attentive to everybody, ensuring we caught fish and had a good day. Highly recommended to anyone who wants a great day on the bay. I'm a beginner, but there were people with all different fishing experience, it felt like family. Support this small family owned business!!

What an awesome crew, boat, and operation. Great vibes and great day. We were lucky enough to get our limits, this is a boat were you can shoot the shit and have some brews and/or dive deep into sportfishing with absolute pros. Equipment was top notch, boat was kept spotless, fish were immaculately processed, and the crew really goes above and beyond to give you a great experience. Andrew got creative with rigging to make sure we got a bite (everyone did), and Will could sense I wanted to learn more and taught me a ton as I tangled some makeshift rigging and tried to get more involved. Get some buddies and call captain Mike, you won't regret it.

Alcatraz Island with the eerie outline of San Francisco in the distance

2.9.19 All hands on deck! We were aboard the Lovely Martha for their first boat tour of the day. And although the weather was overcast with light showers, it turned out to be a thrilling and unforgettable experience. If you were to walk left, facing the Fisherman's Wharf sign, then you should see a couple of boats docked. Chances are, you'll also see someone advertising boat rides/tours. I would always keep to myself and keep on walking without giving it a second thought. However, this time, my friends encouraged for us, or well me, to give it a try. (They've done this a couple of times beforehand.) I thought to myself, why not? As advertised, the boat ride was $15 per person, in Cash. Not to mention, it's also BYOB. So if you want to enjoy a beer or two, bring some! As we boarded the boat, we scurried to the back where there was a seating area for the three of us. The rest of the boat was full! Now, the boat ride is essentially, from the docking station to the Golden Gate Bridge and back to the docking station. The whole boat ride is about 45 minutes. You'll also pass Alcatraz Island on your way back. As we departed, we busted out our beers and made a cheers for a safe trip ahead. We didn't venture too far out; if anything we rode along the coast. Now, my friends told me before hand, that they have never gotten wet during their previous trips. However, if you're familiar with Splash Mountain from Disneyland, then you'll have a good idea of how this trip went for me. Aside from the slight showers and cold, brisk wind hitting my face, there was the occasional splash from the incoming waves. As I smiled, hiding my displeasure, my friends could not stop laughing. Honestly, as I look back at it, the boat ride was actually really fun. One of the staff members walked about the boat passing out blankets for anyone who wanted one. Our tour guide speaking from the cabin through the speakers had a great sense of humor and kept a lighthearted mood through the gloomy weather. As we approached and traveled under the Golden Gate Bridge, our tour guide mentioned that we were the Only people under the Golden Gate in our universe, which to his credit, was a true statement. We turned around and made our journey back from whence we began. As we passed Alcatraz Island, dark rain clouds loomed over the distant city of San Francisco giving an eerie backdrop to the already creepy prison. As if our trip couldn't have gotten any better, a sea lion playfully followed us all the way back to our docking station. The Lovely Martha was definitely a lovely experience. Through the cold and the wet, we had an absolute blast. Can you imagine what a sunny day would be like? I can, and I would love to experience this again, rain or shine. If you're wondering what to do while in Fisherman's Wharf, a boat ride on the Lovely Martha would be my recommendation!

I cannot say enough about the experience I had on the "San Francisco Bay Sunset Cruise by Luxury…read moreCatamaran" this past Sunday. During a solo getaway last weekend, on a whim and after much research, I landed on this option a day prior, after. I must say, this nailed everything I was seeking. First, let's start with the woman in their office (wish I got her name) who was the sweetest. I called panicked that I may be running late/not at the dock before the 6:30pm cruise (as I got the start time mixed up with another provider I was looking at). She instantly put me at ease, assuring me I'd be fine. When I arrived at Pier 39, not knowing to head towards the DOCK on the LEFT (vs. through the main thoroughfare mobbed with crowds), I panicked again and called once more...but hung up as soon as I spotted the door to the dock. Later, found out later this wonderful woman had called back/left me a voicemail just from seeing the missed call, to make sure I was ok! It's customer service like this that really enhances the experience. Same as the crew on board - there I was, out of breath and barely making it on by 6:30pm, greeted by Lisa..just her vibe instantly shifted me into a more relaxed mode. The cruise is quite punctual; we departed very close to 6:30pm...but she never made me feel worse than I was upon arrival. It didn't stop there - on the boat was Michael at the helm, and Devon who was just a delight. For someone who deals with tourists/customers every day, you can still feel genuine joy exude out of him. Both he and Lisa were SO accommodating to the guests - offering to take photos, helping with snacks/drinks in the galley (1 drink comes free with cost of ticket, and there are actual decent choices! And low prices for anything additional you want to consume). Towards the end, he greeted each and every one of us with a basket of assorted chocolates. How can you not smile? The cruise itself was...perfect. Comfortable number of guests allowed all of us to move around at take photos at every angle at leisure. The route and time of cruise was fantastic (in 6 years living in SF I've never seen the Golden Gate Bridge THIS up close; it took my breath away). Seriously, SO many incredible photo ops, especially on a clear day like this last Sunday. Unanticipated chill from the winds and splashing water were helped by jackets for everyone to borrow as needed. Still too chilly? If you decide to take a load off inside, there is plenty of seating by their small bar/eating area, which I found surprisingly relaxing. Again I'm SO so pleased I chose Adventure Cat. I noticed it may be slightly more than other competitors (I paid $99) but rest assured, WELL worth it for the catamaran experience, and one that's not too crowded. But again kudos to the customer service; I really was quite impressed and hope the entire crew sees this, because you helped make this such an unforgettable experience for me.

Our boat (50+ feet Catamaran) sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge and went by Alcatraz island. This is better than riding a ferry boat. This is my second time riding with Adventure Cat. You need to check in around 30 minutes before launch. Give your self enough time, to get there. It took a litter longer than I thought, since it is located near the end of the crowded pier 39.

But, once we boarded everything was smooth sailing - mostly haha. The take off and docking were a bit choppy, but other than that it was a smooth ride. The route and duration were great! We are all from the area but have skipped the touristy things. Well we sufficiently got a taste of everything on this cruise. It was properly 2 hours - passed Golden Gate Bridge, bay bridge, Alcatraz, and Oracle Park which was cool to see from the water side. While there was no sunset, we did get good weather and clear enough skies. The one and only thing we would change is the narration - it was awful, awkward, not super informative, and could use major improvements. The staff was fantastic and made for a smooth onboarding. Overall, great cruise around the bay and for a super reasonable price for a 2 hour cruise!

First off, the people - Lisa, her husband (the captain) and her steward are some of the kindest, most helpful humans you'll ever meet. They are also incredibly professional. The process, from booking to good byes, was incredible simple. Now the yacht itself. Wow. She was definitely one of the bigger yachts on the harbor which had my family incredibly excited. We got a beautiful yacht, Lisa checking in and serving us, add to that pastries, fruits, an open bar, two outdoor tables (in the back and front) of the yacht, an upscale and large cabin, music, a great captain, a SECOND STORY to the boat...I mean..this kind of felt like highway robbery. And we were the robbers (they are incredibly reasonably priced) Since we're in a time of Covid I should also add that I saw them wiping the boat down several times, they were always in masks and Lisa served the food and drinks with gloves and a mask on. It's clear that they are very conscious of their health and the health of their customers. Lisa's mom is 90 and they're doing their best to take the right precautions to keep their family safe. All in all, I cannot wait to go back. I cant wait to bring friends onto this yacht (when it's safe). I couldn't be happier with this decision. Thank you so much Lisa for making a milestone birthday unforgettable!!!

This overdue review is based on my overall experience with planning my birthday with Lisa at Five…read moreStars Yacht. To summarize, I was constantly trying to work around the restrictions that Lisa failed to disclose at the time of contract. And all of this could've been avoided if it was mentioned on the very first day. I just felt blindsided every time she mentioned something new. If you run a business that hosts events, these should be listed in your contract! She was misleading, had poor communication, was unwilling to work with me, and lied. And this event is a couple $$$$. You would think that I would get better service for paying so much. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere! I met Lisa in February, through Sailo.com. While I toured the yacht, Lisa explained what I could expect from booking with them. She said I could decorate the boat however I wanted. She mentioned there were tablecloths in a variety of colors to match any theme. I mentioned I wanted pink tablecloths, and she said she had some light pink shades. She showed me upstairs and said they had tablecloths for the smaller tables as well. I mentioned I would want to decorate upstairs. I asked her if I could bring food onboard, which was okay. We went over bar service, music, and set up. She mentioned the yacht was available to set up in the morning before my event time. Now everything to me sounded great, but little did I know, a lot of what she mentioned was complete BS. I reviewed the contract in March, ready to book with her. The contract had the general cost information. I had questions about bar service, but since the company seemed very accommodating, I didn't have any other questions. Fast forward to July, my event was set for the end of the month. I was already ordering decor. Once I started emailing her details about how I wanted to decorate, many things were not approved. There were restrictions that were not disclosed at the time of contract. For example, no balloons outside, no tape on any surface;only string or ribbon. That is a huge detail you should mention early on, especially when it was clear that I wanted to decorate. After going through multiple options, I had to search for plan b, and just rented marquee numbers, since it was freestanding decor. And even she had some hesitations about that. Then, I asked her multiple times for photos of the pink tablecloths she had mentioned. 2 weeks before the party, she told me she "couldn't find them," and only had white or neutral. Clearly she did not have a variety of tablecloths. I don't even think the pink tablecloths existed. So I told her I would like the white tablecloths for the party. The next issue was food. I asked her if I could use sterno food warmers for one dish. She said no, and that I could only use electric. So, I asked about an electric griddle to set a tray on, and she still didn't approve it..Then, she mentioned a flameless warmer, but refused to send me a photo. She just said, "oh you'll see it online." I sent her an image of one option online, which still wasn't what she was describing, but still approved...all of the back and forth could've been avoided if she just showed me. To make matters worse, 2 days before the event she had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to charge gratuity on my card before the event! So I told her I do not pay gratuity before a service is given. I also asked a week in advance if I could set up starting at 10am, just 2 hours before the event time. I was told 10:30 was the earliest because the crew had to arrive at 10 and set up. On the day of the event, I showed up at 10:20 and the crew was not onboard. They showed up at 10:30 and still needed to set up. So I couldn't start decorating until 10:50, and was scrambling with the little time I had. And when I asked for the white tablecloths, they had no idea that I requested them. They didn't have any ready. They pulled out a DIRTY tablecloth that we just had to fold in half. And the captain didn't even know about any tablecloths for the smaller tables. There was clearly no communication between what I discussed with Lisa and her crew. I asked Lisa if we can bring the smaller table from the front deck inside. She told me the table outside couldn't fold up and had to stay outside, which I later found out was a lie. We had enough space for the food, but I still wanted the table out of the way. The crew told me they could bring the table in. It just shows she was unwilling to work with me and refused to accommodate a simple request. Once we left the dock, things seemed to settle down. The captain and the rest of the crew were great. Unfortunately, the crew service for the day didn't outweigh the stress I went through to plan the event. At the end of the party, I thanked the crew, but made it very clear to the captain that working with Lisa was extremely difficult and stressful.
