This is one establishment I will NEVER patronize again. Not only was I given THE most MINIMAL pedicure I have ever received (the tech basically waved his CLIPPERS at the dead skin beneath the nails and provided a 2 minute massage as his wind up), he proceeded to charge me top price for this "service." My companion commented that he seemed to have a definite attitude problem, and I agree. NEVER going back. Would not reccomend even if you have to go a hundred miles to the next salon. read more

Really disappointed in this place. I came here twice. First was pedicure, I was the only person in there. Pedicure was half assed. No massage. Feet soaked for 2 min probably- super quick with what she did. Pedicure came out nice but literally didn't even feel like I got a pedicure. Decided to come again for my gel manicure. Again half assed. She didn't even massage my hand. After she put my nail polish on she got up and grabbed her keys and left. Her husband checked me out. Another thing that confirmed my decision to not come back is because is was rude. Rude when I got my pedicure and still rude when I came back again for my manicure. Wow. I had an appointment here for my wedding mani and pedi. Was coming from Miranda. I was five minutes late. The nail tech called twice in the five minutes I was late. When I got there she said because I was late, I had to pick a mani or a pedi and if she had time, she would do the other after she put someone in between us. She was incredibly rude, and treated me like I was total trash for being FIVE MINUTES LATE. I'm sorry, she did correct me to say that after our little confrontation, it was now seven minutes after. I was honestly pretty shocked. Like five minutes sets you back that much? Sure I wish I'd been exactly right on time but this punishment for being five minutes late is absurd. Worst nail job I've ever gotten, pedicure was half ass. Didn't soak, scrub, or treat my cuticles. Gel pedicure lasted 2 weeks then peeled right off! I went in with my mom when I was pregnant for a pedi and mani. My mom and I both requested regular polish. If you want to feel bad about yourself, come here. Woman working refused to give us regular polish. She said regular polish wears off as soon as you walk out the door... But I've had plenty of quality manicure with QUALITY products that lasted up to two weeks.. we asked if she could use a top coat on regular polish. She said "no I don't do that here.." she also doesn't do hand massages with the manicure. It's hurry hurry hurry. For a pedi and mani with gel polish (because I just wanted it done before I gave birth..) I was charged $90. And then the guy who did my nails stood there after I gave him cash expecting a tip. I gave him $100 and the service I received frankly wasn't worth the price so a $10 was all that was earned... but he made me feel so awkward I dug around in my wallet to make him go away. I will never come back here. Terrible products (if you don't do regular polish take it down off your shelves) they make you feel bad. Charge you way more than a service is worth. Quick and underwhelming is my description for this place. Went in to get pedicures with my mom. They literally had us out the door within 20 minutes. Basically a nail trim and polish. When we asked about a design on our polish we were told no they had already put on the top coat and wouldn't/couldn't do it. I was very happy with the fill I received. I had been going to U.S. Nails, but wanted to try someplace else so I took a chance on Lovely Nails. I was a walk-in, and waited less than 60 seconds for her to start on me (I must have came at the right time). My nail tech did a really good job making sure all the lengths were the same on each nail, and gave my fake nails a really nice almond shape. Im picky about one finger being a little longer than the other, or a couple nails not being shaped to perfection, but I have no complaints. I definitely plan to come back here for my acrylic fills. I broke a nail a week after getting my nails done here, and they fixed it for free. Made me happy because I expected to be charged for it. read more

I recommend making an appointment...walk ins are welcome, but you're taking a chance and might have to wait quite a bit. Nice local business. Good selection of polish and massage chairs. Nice magazine selection. Could have better air ventilation-- I can't really handle the smell that comes with acrylic nails (but I'm probably more sensitive than most) and could be just a tiny bit cleaner. However, a homey business that does a good job for a good price and fills a need in Fortuna. You can also make appointments for just foot massages! read more

My sister, and I, had an appointment at this establishment today. I received a confirmation call this afternoon, and I confirmed that we would be there for 2 pedicures and 1 manicure. We live in Eureka and got there in time for our appointments only to be informed that we were cancelled. She said she made a mistake and I asked if we could reschedule and she said yes, and continued to work on whomever took our spot without looking up. I asked what she had and she asked if we could sit until 4-something, which we could not, so we left saying we would check our schedules and get back to them. We will not be returning. No one really cared to help us figure out a solution and we're unprofessional, arguing that we had called to cancel our appointment. The level of service is very low, and if I'm dropping good money for a 'pampering', we expect to be treated with at least a little respect. read more

Ok. I never did a review for service i got when i went there. But here it is. I went there 2 years ago. At the recommendation of one of my customers. Number 1 the job was extremely rushed. Thats ok as long as it is good. It was not very good. I had to correct her job 3 times. And i will ask for a correction if its right. Well she acted like, i was asking too much to correct hang nails. Sorry the reason for me to get a manicure is to not bite my fingers. Gross but honest. Then the older asian guy went to charge my card. THE, NO OFFENSE, JERK, ACTUALLY CHARGED A TIP!!! I politely asked why he charged more than the price stated, but of course, HE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. This time i just swallowed my tongue and didn't say anything. I gave them 2 chances. When I initially went, I felt they were over-priced for the services by about 35%. The place seemed clean and the owners were nice, so that seemed to compensate for the over-priced services. For me, paying for nail services is a luxury service, not a necessity, but there is no luxury in this shop and the services are given at bare minimum with no fluff. I didn't mind paying more, but the problem is that the services given were inadequate for the service asked for. On the first visit I had a manicure($20) and a basic pedicure($30). There was absolutely NO hand/arm massage and that is the reason I have choosen to pay for a manicure as opposed to painting my own nails. Manicure was a FAIL. The pedicure came with a good leg, foot massage, but they hardly touched my heels. My HEELS in why I pay for a pedicure in the first place. After spending $50 on very basic services, I felt let down. I knew I wouldn't do the manicure again, but I thought maybe paying $50 for the "deluxe" pedicure would get me what I want. The second visit I went for the "deluxe". The owners were very unfriendly when I walked in the door, although I had made an appointment. I had to innitiate a smile and conversation otherwise it would have been a miserable 30 minutes. Beyond the regular pedicure, the menu description states "10 minute foot massage, salt treatment and mask". The ONLY thing different was the salt treatment. There was no additional foot massage (compared to the basic pedicure) and there was no mask. My heels AGAIN, were barely touched. I payed TWENTY $ more for basically nothing. They put lotion on my legs and feet, so at the time everything looked smooth and moisturized. Within 3 hours, my legs and feet looked AWFUL, dry and scaly. You would never know I JUST got a pedicure. Their products are not quality, at all. I assume mostly water and petroleum. It sucked any moisture I naturally have, right out of my skin. I'm not one to tell someone how to do their job, so I just take to doing a review. These are the OWNERS providing the service, so it wasn't like I could "speak to management". I just won't go back. (I noticed there was a pedicure review (2016)from someone who actually spoke up about the "heels". Looks like they were not taken well in the shop. Hmmmm. Not a new concern. ) read more

My sister just recently moved up to Fortuna and wanted a manicure. She went in one Saturday and was asked if she had an appointment. She didn't make one as it said walk-ins welcome. She figured it may have been close to closing or something as no one else was in the building. I came up to visit her this weekend and we decided to look for a place to get gel Manis. Everything else was closed so we stopped in. There was no one else in the place. As we walked in the two employees a man and a woman just stared at us. We looked at the menu and told the woman we'd like 2 gel manicures. She snapped back with how much it cost as if she didn't see us staring at their price list. But she could fit us in so we decided to go for it. I told my sister I had to run to the bank as they don't take AMEX and then the lady was like well how long is that going to take. At that point we left. First of all there's a Safeway right next door with an ATM, secondly you said you had the time for us but then complained that I needed to get run to the ATM. Given my sisters prior experience and today's poor encounter it seems like they prefer appointments! Great, let us know politely and don't put walk-ins welcome on the door. read more

Look for another salon. So, I've been here twice and had the same experience both times. I call and make an appointment for mani/pedis. Upon getting there we are sat in the pedicure chair, our feet put in water and left. For 30 minutes we sit and wait while they got back and forth between customers. They start you, then leave to do another customer, come back, do more, and leave again. This continues for over an hour while other customers come and go. I actually left this time without having my nails painted. A manicure, pedicure and an unfinished manicure cost me $115! The lady was rude and aggressive. I don't recommend going there. You can "WALK-IN" TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I literally pulled up as they flipped their open sign on (40 min earlier than what their hours said on the window). I walked in and asked if they could do a simple fill and the lady says to me "No I busy, I have appointment now" and then walked away from me. "Don't you take walk-ins??" Because its posted outside on their window. It was like I was interrupting her day but there was no one else in the salon but us. She offered me an appointment 3 days away (her sched book was full, is she running this place by herself? Luckily Linda took me in as soon as I could go back, apologized wholeheartedly, and repainted them without charge. I get it. Some nail polish react different than others, I've had my share of nail polish nightmares. But I'm not gonna bash her or lower her star bc of that. After the second time I had a fungus from them reusing tools and not sanitizing between customers. When it came time for the wedding (third visit), I had fungus under four nails and couldn't have a French manicure like I wanted. I cried! Then, after the wedding I PAID them to take off my nails. I took my 14 year old daughter to get her nails done and asked for the $15 basic manicure. When they took her to the back they gave her two options: long nails or gel. When I went to pay they told me it would be $30. They up sold to the 14-year-old and expected me to pay for it. She didn't know it was extra for gel. They acted like we were the screwed up ones. I went to Lovely Nails 2 or 3 years ago. It's very hard for me to take care of my toenails. I used to use scissors on them. I finally decided enough was enough, I needed healthier feet! I went to a couple places for pedicures, no polish. They all felt good but Linda really showed care for my feet. I ripped my left big toe nail about a year ago, it took a long time, it seemed, to get better. In that time I didn't go to anyone. I recently went in to Lovely Nails. Lovely Nails is my favorite place to go get my nails done! They fixed a "blemish" I've had on my toe for years taking such good care to Doctor my feet back to beauty! Always calling me back right away for scheduling my appointments no matter what headache I may give them! A family run business that TRULY cares about their clients! I found that they were very insulting and did a very poor job of a manicure with gel nails. Within 3 days 8 my nails were chipped and tearing horizontally from the quick. I went back in simply because I wanted to know what had happened and not to blame them at all but two get an answer that 8 of my nails in a few days was damaged. No I did not scrub dishes with my nails, I did not do heavy gardening, Etc. The manicurist Linda took it as an offense that I even asked and as I paid for the removal of the Polish and as I walked out she yelled at me next time do your own nails. read more

Rude, I called and asked how much they charge he told me $25 for a full set so I showed up and he was rushing because he was closing early. He finished and told me they were $45 for normal set no gel nothing just a basic acrylic nail set and I then said I didn't bring $45 because he had said $25 he then said I don't know you need to hurry I got to go and I had to call my ride and he was being so impatient and rude rushing and asking when they'd be there so he can get his money. I would like to share a really HORRIBLE experience that I encountered on August 31st at 'Lovely Nails' in Fortuna, California...(Especially with my friends that live in Fortuna & the surrounding areas.) 'Lovely Nails' is far from 'lovely!!' It was the absolute WORST experience that I've ever encountered at a nail salon!! (I would give 'ZERO' stars if I could.) I have never been so INSULTED in my entire life as I was by this woman that works there!! She was so very RUDE!! I asked if they could please put more callus remover on my heels because they were not smooth at all. (I've been to countless nail salons, spas & even had pedicures & manicures on cruise ships...They always have been able to get my heels smooth. If they needed, they'd put more callus remover on them.) I would have gladly paid extra to have more callus remover put on... However, they didn't offer that & in fact REFUSED to put more callus remover on my heels! I asked for the 'deluxe' pedicure with the callus remover, scrub, etc. The rest of the pedicure was 'satisfactory', with the exception of the man giving me my pedicure cut/filed my toe nails very CROOKED!! They looked very bad... I simply asked him if he filed them yet & I expressed that they were crooked & not rounded. The woman that had started my manicure said that I am too "picky" & INSISTED that I LEAVE!! I do not know how this place stays in business?!? I seriously doubt that some of the people that work there even have a license to give manicures & pedicures!?!? I also noticed that they don't properly clean or sanitize the pedicure water tubs or tools that they use. So DISCUSTING, not to mention very unsanitary!! (Perhaps I'll contact the State Board Of Cosmetology regarding these issues!) After working in the customer service industry for one of the largest corportions in the world for over 22 years there is one thing I have learned... That a business owner and their employees should do everything they can to keep a satisfied customer. Afterall, we share good experiences with our friends and family (which in turn could potentially mean more business for them.) People tend to tell even more of their friends & family when they have a BAD experience...(But of course... We all work hard for our money & who wouldn't want good service and/or a good product as a comsumer?) I strongly suggest AVOIDING any services from 'Lovely Nails' in Fortuna, California!! They are very UNPROFESSIONAL... (To say the least.) I made an appointment for a gel manicure. Everyone was very nice, however, I have never had a gel manicure last less than 1 month and one week in, my gel manicure was chipping and peeling off on the tips. I'm not sure why I'm surprised though, they weren't very thorough. She only did one top coat. (Anywhere else I always get at least two) At the end of my manicure, I'm also used to getting and a quick hand massage and at least getting some lotion on my hands. Nope not even lotion and anyone who's had a gel manicure knows how dry your hands feel after. Very nice people but the work is half assed. read more
